As a beginning learner, this keyboard is everything I could hope for. It isn't so complicated that it is too much for a beginner yet it offers some features like a built in metronome, full sized, touch sensitive keys, ability to hook up pedals and a usb midi connection which makes learning a lot easier. I've been using it with an online teaching service that can grade my performance as I learn.

We use this instrument for small-space events and for a backup in case our Privia PX350 fails during a performance. The CTK-3500 is amazingly light and compact. Nice action and sound menu. One of our uses is left-hand keyboard bass and right-hand chording; we wish that it had an adjustable split point. We also wish there was a way to keep the built-in speakers on when the line-out was accessed. But for the low price and light weight, this the CTK-3500 is in a class by itself.

For the price, good for my home playing ... but there are flaws: * The dynamics. If you set volume to low, you can go from pp to mf. If you set it high, you can go from mf to ff. Don't expect to play ppp or fff, and don't expect pp and ff within one song without messing with the volume control. The response is just very flat. * Pretty quiet. Good in a small flat (I usually play on 1/2 volume, 1/3 in the evenings when everything is quiet), but I won't take it into noisy pub to play along a friend with guitar. I'd rather take my guitar too :-) * The piano doesn't sustain tone. Playing Imagine, I don't have to lift the pedal, as at the end of the bar, before playing another chord, the tones of the first chord are almost unhearable. * It doesn't keep most of the ...Β MoreFor the price, good for my home playing ... but there are flaws: * The dynamics. Pretty annoying, as some defaults are plain stupid (like reverb on, high value). * The communication with the app rather doesn't work than works. I really don't understand why it cannot use USB when it is present ... * The teaching functions look to me in vain, not much usable. Also, the arrangement of the included songs is very weird. I don't review accompaniments and tone banks, I don't use it. I just wanted cheap piano. For the abovementioned Imagine, well, okay, it can do. Fr Elise? - well, if you don't insist on all the dynamics, it can do too (it even includes it in the song bank). Something like Piano concerto No1 in B minor? - no way.

Great for my 5 year old and me (both beginners). We had been using SA-76 44 key toy, which is also fun and was ideal to dip our toes into real piano lessons, now this keyboard is a massive and natural step up without being so serious as to be intimidating or boring. In comparison to SA-76, big plusses is this keyboard is even more FUN (with DJ mixing, percussion, hundreds instruments) and still pretty lightweight and solid, with standard sized 61 keys, has metronome, with simulated weight keys, giving my fingers a workout and learning to control loudness by finger velocity. The keyboard was for my daughter and I to try to learn to play piano/keyboard. The built in program is not as easy to use as it is made to sound. It seems to play way to quickly for beginners, and the screen is small. The stand was easy to set up, but the directions were lacking in a few details. Have not used the headset that came with it so can not comment on its quality. The sound is good, and for the price it is a good buy.
I've only had this keyboard for a few weeks, but it is just what I needed and thought it would be. It is an affordable, smaller keyboard great for getting started (and for travel). I like the touch sensitive keys and all the sounds, even though I will only use a small percentage of them.
This is a wonderful keyboard. I bought this for my wife as a birthday gift. She loved it alot. Within this price its an awesome keyboard. Luckily when i bought, it was coming in combo of stand, headphone and the keyboard and i had some bestbuy rewards as well which used to buy it so it really become a best buy item for me.
Not a bad entry level keyboard or for anyone looking to have some fun with music. Sounds are okay. Dance function is pretty cool. Only negative is the speakers are small and the volume is low. No line out except for the headphone jack which unfortunately cuts off the on board speakers. But for someone looking to have some fun with a light weight inexpensive keyboard its A-Okay.
Mine was inexpensive so that affects my review. Takes 6 aa batteries or easy to find proprietary adapter. Voltage is a little odd. Keys are the same size as a piano full but definitely not weighted (i.e. spring action). Transpose an octave up or an octave down gets you almost the entire range of a piano 85/88 save the A0 to B0. (lowest three piano notes) with 61 keys. 400 voices gives you just about every sound you might imagine so this may be enough for you, but it's nevertheless equipped with USB out in case you want to send a MIDI signal to a USB port on your laptop or tablet. Its possible to get to other midi devices with a $50 midi host/expander (lots of products out there). Its lightweight so highly portable. Cons: No old school midi, No way to assign one voice to the left and another to the right. Overall : Outstanding compared to any of the previous beginner models I've tried. Nothing like an upper model, though. Intermediate level. Bargain.
I love the touch sensitive response. It makes you feel like you're playing a real piano. Of course, if you want to have the chords "sustained" as when you push the pedals on a real piano, you have to buy the sustainer separately.I haven't had much time to play with my new keyboard yet, but I wish there was a separate volume control for the accompaniment sound when using the one-fingered rhythms. Sometimes with this being a touch response keyboard, you have to play the right-hand notes quite strongly or the one-fingered accompaniment can overwhelm the tune!Perhaps more accomplished musicians have an answer to this problem. And as I said, I haven't played mine much since getting it! :(
