I was leaning towards the Suunto Core when I found this Casio. While priced much higher than the Core, the waterproof rating for the Casio was superior, and that made up my mind. I also spent some time reading the user manual prior to purchase. First off, this watch looks GREAT! Large, rugged, and comfortable on the wrist. With analog hands, it's very easy to tell the time. While I'm slightly disappointed with the luminance of the hands in the dark (at this price, tritium markers would be appropriate), the LED makes up for that nicely. This watch is a tool, packed with features. You can set the declination angle for your region so your compass will be accurate. You can set your home city and have Atomic timekeeping. Built in weather warnings, constant tide chart (which is a useless feature if you don't live near the ocean). Solar powered, G Shock. Expensive? Yes. But this watch seems to be a quality tool that should last a lifetime. Spend some time with the manual and get to know how it functions and you will be impressed.

Great watch Very happy.
11 May 2023

This watch is beautiful I am a gshock collector and this one seems like it will quickly become my favorite. Its is a bit more diffucult to set up and use due to alot of the settings requiring the use of the crown not buttons like usual gshocks. Overall very pleased and once i got the hang of it. Very visible hands and display, only bad part as with most gshock watches is the light could be brighter.

Great watch for outdoorsy people
2 January 2019

I ride motorcycles all over the US, and backwoods camp doing it. I dont have a smartphone, and most places I travel to have zero cell service anyway. This watch has a compass and barometer. This allows me to monitor the weather and keep my bearings without carrying excess gear. The solar charge and atomic settings keep accurate time without batteries. There are 5 alarms for reminders and waking up. It has an autobacklight that while not as nice as my previous Tritium, works very well. It has auto daylight savings, and is very easy to change timezones with. Basically, it is a damn good tool. Check Nutnfancy on Youtube for a full review, and tutorial on making cheap durable crystal protectors (which my watches sorely need). Bottom line, if you find one at a good price ... MoreI ride motorcycles all over the US, and backwoods camp doing it. Great watch. Dont be put off by the price

I have been wearing G Shock watches for years & they just get better. This one has many different functions, but is really quite easy to use- at last! The luminosity of the dial is very very good being exceptionally easy to read at night- probably the best I have seen. Various functions appear to be ball park accurate which is fine while the watch needs to sit for a while off the body to attain a reasonable temperature reading as per usual. My only small criticism is the band retainer could be a little tighter as it slips allowing the band end to catch on things such as steering wheels etc. while on the band, the double tang fastener is a great improvement too. Overall, its a nice, functional watch which is easy for an old bloke to read! All in all, Im a satisfied ... MoreI have been wearing G Shock watches for years & they just get better. Legit and Brand New
6 January 2020

Legit. It's a large watch for sure. I was very enticed by the Yellow color. The band is so much softer than what Im used to (G-Shock MudMaster Twin Sensor). It was very easy to set up. The product arrived in perfect condition with the plastic wrapping around the watch and buckle. I've had it now for a few weeks with no issues at all. I more got it for the size and color, so I cant really speak for the features at this point. But for what this watch offers it appears everything works fine (Barometer, Compass, Tide Graph). Very happy with the purchase!

Beautiful watch . Solid , functional, and actually quite dressy . I have the all black Gulfmaster as well , but this one just stands out more . I liked the look & feel of my first one , and I was wary going for any other MASTER of G like the Mudmaster or the Gravity Master in case I didn't like them as much on a day to day basis . This is by far the best watch I have owned , and I have a Swiss Tissot , but this thing is comfy & not too flashy. The time is always bang-on as well . The "pip's" on the radio just confirm what you knew already !. World time adjustment is the easiest ever with the Smart Crown . You just pop it out , turn it to desired time zone , and the hands move to the right time . A 5 second job when your plane is landing . The digital display stays ... MoreBeautiful watch . The other functions are handy . Probably the pressure tendency graph . This let's you know when weather is improving or deteriorating, and it works !. The other functions like Compass , Altimiter, and thermometer are all good & again , the smart crown makes calibration a doddle . Especially the thermometer. Normally for watches , they say you have to take it off for 20 minutes to get an accurate reading, well I found you can down calibrate it to ignore your body temperature. Find a thermometer that will measure the room temperature like on a home weather station , keep your watch on your wrist , pop out the crown on temp. function & set it to what the weather station says . You will find it will pretty much hold this ambient temp . I tried it in winter when it was 3°C outside , and it held it until I was in my car . I ran 10 miles or so & set the heater for 25°C . The watch was sitting at 24°C . Not too shabby .Any one of these Gulfmaster's is a cracking watch to own . They come in White , Yellow , Pale Blue , and Emergency Red . Plus lots of variants of bezel colour in the black body & strap . The black with blue bezel is the most common one on sale , but I preferred the all black one . Then I added to collection with the black & gold edition out . Beware , as some have embossed digits on the bezel . They are not as nice , and I think they would get scraped easier. The service from First Class Watches was Faultless, and I cannot recommend them highly enough, especially the "Make us an offer" section. It let's them compete with Ebay , on a one to one basis . Very professional. Well done guys .

Let me say this from the start - this is a BIG watch. But it's easy to wear, doesn't feel too heavy, and it's a looker. I have been looking for a new Casio for a few weeks now and it was going to be between a G-Shock or Pro Trek. I decided that an analogue face was better for me (able to read the time at a glance) and the new Gulfmaster (GWN-Q1000) fitted the bill in having the maritime features I was looking for plus sunset and sunrise, but the price was too high; the Pro Treks didn't have all the features in an analogue watch, so it came down to the GWN-1000 series and in my case the GWN-1000B-1BER.Looks aside it is quite an easy watch to use; yes, the manual is huge and it's a bit daunting at first but once you know which buttons control which features it ... MoreLet me say this from the start - this is a BIG watch. There are some features which I consider unnecessary: temperature and altitude - a correct temperature will only be read if the watch has been off your wrist for 20 minutes or so, and the altitude function (which works through changes in air pressure) is a bit flaky if the weather conditions are changing - besides this is a maritime watch, why are we interested in altitude? The useful features in my mind are the compass and the barometer which seem to be pretty accurate at where I am near sea level. The tide function, whilst not giving depths, seems to be spot on for tide positions on the hour. Having my home city set for London I checked the tide settings against the tide table for London Bridge and it was good. I have now adjusted this manually for a spot further downstream on the Thames and again it seems pretty accurate. The Moon Age setting isn't as pretty as on my old Casio AQW100 - it just gives the number of days since the last New Moon, but this is good enough to work out whether the tides are Springs or Neaps or somewhere in between. Other functions are pretty standard - stopwatch, timer, 5 alarms and hourly chime. There's also the World Time, so that the watch can change quickly to another time zone. Anything else I would have liked? Yes, sunrise and sunset times for the Home City - it's on the new Gulfmaster model and a number of digital display Pro Treks but should be a feature on any maritime featured watch.Other features which make this watch stand out are the solar battery - so no batteries running out as long as you expose it to a bit of light every so often; the automatic time update from one of six world wide atomic clocks (this can also take care of changes for daylight saving), plus a few tricks to move the hands away from the digital display to assist reading it.On that point there is probably the one slight issue I have with the watch - the negative digital display. It looks good but it's not as easy to read as a positive one (black figures on grey background), particularly if the light is poor. There are 11 variations of the GWN-1000, not all readily available in the UK, of which only 3 have a positive displays. All in all I'm very happy with the purchase. Many thanks FCW!
