Perfetto by Name, Perfetto by Nature It was the Castelli Pro riders who first asked for a Gabba that’s not as hot as the original but warmer than the Perfetto Undershirt. With the Gabba as a starting point Castelli have made the back in Nano Light fabric - the same fabric as their Nano Flex tights but without the brushed fleece inside. This gives the piece a superb level of breathability and keeps you from overheating inside. By using a lighter weight of Windstopper (a full 25% lighter than the one used on the Gabba) on the front the overall weight was also further minimized. You may think that this is filling a very small niche. But just try it. It can cover most of the conditions of the Gabba (except wet racing and very cold), yet it handles warmer temperatures better. And the fit is exceptional, which is one more reason you’ll keep reaching for it. The consensus of the Castelli test crew is that this piece doesn't fully replace the Gabba or a Perfetto undershirt but it’s another arrow in your quiver that is ideally suited to cool temperatures, especially when it’s dry or there’s a risk of light rain. Windstopper 150 Fabric Light elastic protection from Castelli’s lightest Windstopper three-layer knit fabric. Totally windproof, excellent breathability and featuring functional stretch and a DWR coating for water-resistance, this fabric creates new possibilities in constructing layered garments for enhanced fit, temperature and moisture management.

This is so good, the only issue I have is why has it taken me so long to get round to purchasing one! I used it for the first time with just a sleeveless merino wool base layer underneath and arm warmers, in 11 degrees and post-rain where the roads were still damp. It was perfect. Dealt with the spray and kept me snug without overheating. If the temperature was any higher, it would possibly have been too warm. Well thought out features like the drop tail and covered zip. The pockets are perfectly proportioned. I purchased XL for my 6ft and 13 stone frame and it is quite a snug fit on my biceps.

The jersey itself is very well constructed and materials just feel amazing. It appears that "rossocorsa" line is for those super skinny guys that race, so definitely not me. I went up 1 size given the comments and also as I usually do with this Brand ... and ended up looking like a soppressata when I managed to zip this thing up!I admit I have put on a few pounds with the confinement ... but man this is rude and harsh. And the Castelli sizing chart?!?! It looks like they put random numbers there... totally unrealistic!Returning with half of my dignity lost in the process.

What a great purchase. I was a little hesitant about buying due to the cost, however the black friday deal made it a no brainer. I have yet to wear this in the rain so can't yet comment on it's water repelling capabilities. The wind stopper fabric is great and worn underneath a warmer top inward comfortable in temperatures of 3-5 degrees. The build quality is great and it really does feel like a premium item. I would definitely recommend. I weigh 68-70kg/180cm and quite slender and a large is spot on.

I got this a few weeks ago as a transition piece for the late summer, early fall period, and it has been great. Great windproofing properties, but the water resistance properties are greatly exaggerated. It will not keep you dry, but it will help keeping you warm. With a pair of arm warmers, this jersey ought too keep me satisfied until the end of october.I got the yellow one for visibility, and I think it is both a good option for the early morning commute and the occasional evening ride.I am 190 cm tall, around 100 kg and larger arms than Chris Froome. I bought the XXL sized jersey and managed to squeeze in. It was snug at first, but after a few uses it more or less adapted to my size and now it fits perfectly.
Nice but be aware that the elastane material is easily damaged ruined by soap residue left from washing, or left moist for too long (in a locker or a bag). I use baking soda in a cold water wash spin dry and hang up immediately afterwards in front of a fan. Just one of those things they don't tell you about.
I already own 2 Castelli’s Perfetto 2 Light and I love them. I decided to try the Gabba 3 for slightly colder days and the fit is just as great the Perfettos, once you find your size. I find the perfettos as slightly tighter. I am 172cm and 60kg and the small Gabba is perfect, and if fits identical to the medium Perfetto 2 Light... so you might want to keep your usual size for the Gabba. Otherwise the fabric is great, pockets are in the perfect location and have the right depth/tightness. To be honest if Castelli made a Perfetto extra light, then I’d ride only Castelli all year round.
I used this in during a warm front in a Chicago winter. Low 50s (F) with rain possible. It was worn with a long-sleeve merino base layer and that package was too warm (for me). The thermal material of the Gabba 3 with the wind-stopper fabric proved much warmer than I am used to my normal setup of Velocissimo long-sleeve (with same base layer) for these conditions. Impressive. It started to lightly spit rain. All was fine. It got heavier at my turn-around point (of course) and continued on my 12 mile return developing into a full deluge at times.I got home mostly soaked but I was still warm! The rain finally made it thru the Gabba but just barely after the 12 miles home. Impressive.
I used to think that my Rapha kit (of which I have a lot) was impossible to match but with this new wave of Castelli kit, I’ve completely switched my allegiances. The quality is at least as high but the design and use of materials for specific purposes is far and away the best I’ve experienced. The look of this jersey is fantastic but the performance is second to none. Literally.Sizing is as Castelli size guide suggests. But be aware that their size guide shows max dimensions. In Rapha I’m a Medium for Bibs and jerseys. In Castelli, large in jersey and bibs but I could just about get away with medium in the shorts. 183cm tall 79kg athletic build.
After years of reading about the Gabba being the benchmark I finally gave in and got one for the British winter, and I wish I’d done it years ago. I’m a slim whippet and normally sit somewhere between small and medium in UK brands so a slimmer ‘Euro’ Castelli medium fits perfectly. So far used the jersey with arm warmers and base layers down to about 1 degree in wind and rain and it peformed flawlessly. Bought in Luna Grey, it washed perfectly after a cursed day of mechanicals in which it ended up black with grease. Can’t recommend the Gabba highly enough and love the versatility of the short sleeves. It is by no means a thermal winter jersey so don’t expect to stay toasty warm at an outdoor coffee stop. When riding and generating heat it works wonders. The only ... Bought half price in the January sale it was an absolute steal.
Bought one because of all the rave reviews and because everyone seems to have one but found out they are all wrong! It doesnt stop the wind. It doesnt breath very well. It doesnt keep you warm. It doesnt keep you dry and its not cut very well. Bought a Sportfull Fiandre LRR short sleeve to replace it. This top is BRILLIANT! it does everything that the Gabba doesnt and its properly cut so that when your in the riding position you feel like youve just got your best summer jersey on not a straightjacket. Swapped jackets half way through a typical cold murky ride with my mate who raves about his Gabba , as soon as he got home he ordered the Sportful and put his Gabba and his new Perfetto light up for sale.
