I have become a member at a local WWT site and my small binoculars weren't really up to the job. I was considering a telescope but couldn't afford the prices being asked by the top end brands but this one caught my eye. The price of the Celestron 60mm zoom refractor spotter was affordable at £75. It arrived in just 2 days by standard post. The spotter comes in a solid aluminium carry case but inside this is a lighter padded case to carry it about along with the small tripod supplied with it. This tripod, although basic is very sturdy and once set up keeps the spotter fixed on what you want to look at. I've only had chance to use this in the garden but have been very impressed by the sharpness of the image. At 20 x zoom the image is nice and bright. As you increase the zoom the image does darken but I was expecting this from other reviews. Have used it to look at the moon and was very pleased with the detail I could see. Nice for the price!

Pros:Cons:Other thoughts: I am not a expert in spotting scope but if you are looking for a scope at a reasonable price and just want to look at hole in paper target at 100 to 150 yards on a nice day then this is your scope. The scope is lightweight but I woulndt want to drop it to many times. Made reasonable well, I guess. The tripod is not much, pretty flimsey and cheap. Nice case and cover. Nice and clear at 20x, 40x but at 60x a little shakey and blurry. Lets just say this is not a Zeiss but for the price, what the hey! I Will recommmend.

Not what I Hoped

Not what I was looking for. Expected more of a Telescope with easy viewfinder. Dissapointed..

Stable view trough magnification for easy focus.

Easy to focus and adjust. This spotting scope is a good investment for a wide variety of optical uses. I Would recommend Upgrading to an adjustable height tripod with a good easy swivel pan for increasing the enjoyment possibilities of this, well made weather resistant spotting scope. I use mine for wildlife observation, star gazing and getting an up close view of nature.

The perfect gift!

My son has always wanted a telescope and I got this one for him and he uses it every night! It's perfect for the moon!

Use it at the rifle/pistol range

Pros: The 20-60 zoom lets you see bullet holes @ 100 yards and farther. Also it's lite and just pleasant overall.Cons: The tripod isn't very good (for rifle range) ... it's light duty, and light weight. I bring a camera tripod for serious outdoor use.Other thoughts: I keep liking Buydig. Fast and pleasant to do business with.
