Easily fits in shirt pocket, a breeze to use. Nice solid feel and smooth positive eyepiece focus. Works well for eyeglass wearers. I was very pleased and surprised to learn it uses a BK-7 prism, which is the highest-quality and purest glass, in a scope of this price that is surprising! The coating on the front lens is high-quality. What could improve is the coating on the eyepiece, it could be a darker-green cast to aid in light transmission and reduce reflections for eyeglass wearers. All in all a solid, nice little scope, worth more than the price.

Good quality optics but spoilt by numerous internal debris on the objective lens. As the monocular is waterproof and therefore dust proof, the debris must have been present at the time it was manufactured. So quality control must be very poor. The scope also suffered from fairly bad internal reflection and was unusable when viewing with the sun to the left or right of the user. And finally the box my scope came in had a date of 2012 so apparantly it was seven years old when I purchased it.

Crystal clear viewing for about three city blocks. Picks out details in overhead planes taking off from a nearby airport. Can't wait to take it up into the mountains. It'll be perfect for hiking, skiing, and it is so compact it'll fit in a small pocket. I was impressed by the packaging also. Well Done! Thank you.

Great price for a small pocket scope. One does need to turn the focus very slowly to get a sharp image. This is no where as fast as the Binos that cost 5 times a much. The ten power supports looking at distant objects but not a wide panoramic view. If speed is not important but size is, this is a very good mini scope.
This is a good quality optic at a low price point. Build quality of the enclosure is a tired one from the earlier decades and the focus a bit tight but at this price point, can you really complain?Again, optics are good as you would expect from this brand. If build quality and nice cosmetics are your thing then I would consider the Levenhuk MC2 which competes with this at this price point. If you want to splurge 5 times more, then the Vortex is a superb choice.
When I had my first glimpse on this item, I was actually looking for a powerful, affordable, weather-sealed monocular, that is small and light enough to fit in my pocket or on my belt. I do have a Pentax binocular, also waterproof, bright and easy to use, however too large and heavy to carry around without a backpack. I received this item in only half a week after the order is placed, and it is a surprise! Tried it on some bird spotting and astronomic guidance, and it worked far beyond its price. I would be happier if Celestron had improved the eyecup on this, like the ones on their larger binoculars, so that it can protect the eyepiece better. Also, a utility clip or wrist strap will help a lot for easier carry and deployment.
I admit it, I bought this because I work on the 12th floor, where I have a terrific view of construction in progress, high mountains, and occasionally wildlife. I also thought it would be nice for hiking and for scouting climbing routes, since it is so much smaller and lighter than my good binoculars. The optics aren't up to the same standard as the aforementioned expensive binoculars, but for about 1/50th of the price, this monocular isn't bad. One caution: consider getting 8 power or less, rather than 10. A hand-held 10-power monocular magnifies every little twitch or shake, and it takes some practice to keep it steady.
I reviewed this scope previously, and praised it for its quality materials and smooth operation, however, this scope has a critical defect that causes alot of flare from the front lens. You can see the defective coating by doing this: Take the scope outside a look down at the inside-edge of the front lens, at a 45 degree angle and rotating the scope you will see a thin bright gold-ish reflection, this is the defect that causes large amounts of internal flare in the lens. I returned the scope to the store and looked at another one there and it had the same defect. Don't believe me?, then do this: position the scope so the thickest part of the defect is on the bottom, now while looking through the scope rotate the entire thing- you will see the flare decrease/rotate ... MoreI reviewed this scope previously, and praised it for its quality materials and smooth operation, however, this scope has a critical defect that causes alot of flare from the front lens. This is disappointing for a Celestron product, it should have been halted at quality-control because this problem makes this scope, no matter how inexpensive, completely unusable.
I bought this for taking on gear-light hikes. although I have binoculars, I tend not to take them with me due to the bulk. this monocular fits the bill nicely as it can even slip into a smaller cargo pocket. the included belt case is handy.optics-wise, they're not bad. as reviewers on other sites have noticed, there is a slight 'halo' present that can, it seems, never really be fully eliminated no matter how I move it relative to my eye. it would be a 3-star item because of this, but the low price bumps it up to 4 in my eyes. It allows you to look at faraway objects with enhanced clarity, and I get to feel like Jason Bourne whenever I use it. what's not to love?
Considering the price point of some optics out there this is pretty impressive. Will have it in a travel pack so if anything happens to it I wont be overly concerned. Would definitely recommend if you want a very reasonably priced monocular that wont break the bank and give you a nice clear image.
