I bought my first one of these for Christmas, as I’d been wondering about them for a while. People seemed to love them, so I thought I’d purchase one and give it a go. I bought mine in the shade ‘Or’ which was part of the No5 holiday collection 2021. I tried it in a video (search Chloe Luckin on YouTube) whilst testing out the rest of the collection, and honestly I’m just really underwhelmed. I thought it would have a bit more pigment to it and would be a beautiful highlighter stick (like a softer version of the Fenty matchsticks), but it really didn’t do much. I’ve used it on my face, collarbone and choosers and it was just pretty disappointing. There was hardly any shimmer to it, and it just looked like I’d put Vaseline on my skin. This cost me over £30 and I wish I hadn’t bought it! I usually really enjoy Chanel but this product was a fail!

I love most Chanel products, even though they have reformulated some of my HG’s (Les Beiges Bronzer!!!) and I liked them better before. I love these MultiUse Glow Sticks though. Transparent wasn’t my favorite one. I definitely prefer Westman Atelier’s LIT , but this is the shade “Sculpting†and it’s just gorgeous! This is my second one and I get so much use out of it. It IS subtle, so if you want a blinding highlight, this isn’t for you. If you want that “lit from within glow, this is it. I use it on my brow bones, cheek bones, Cupid’s bow, lips, eyes, anywhere I want a subtle bit of light. I have the shade “Sunkissed†too, which is a bronzy color, but this is definitely my favorite. This stuff is the best! I purchased the color Sculpted and it’s the most perfect highlight to give you that natural glow effect. The texture is balmy (slightly thicker than Vaseline) so it gives you a dewy effect as opposed to a powder highlight. I was worried it would make my oily skin look too greasy but over a set face it actually makes my skin look so pretty and healthy. I use my finger to apply but I’m sure a brush or sponge would work too. Perfect for light or no makeup days when you just want that extra glow. Price is high but this product will last you YEARS.

Chanel Baume essentiel in the shade Transparent is my favorite highlighter on the market. I personally don't like to wear a highlighter with ANY trace of shimmer or glitter on a daily basis-- I just want a subtle light-catching effect, without looking like I taught a kindergarten art class or just left a strip club. This manages that and more. One swipe above your cheekbones and you're left with beautiful, light-catching shine that doesn't look sweaty or highlight skin's texture. It's incredibly easy to use, perfectly packaged for one-the-go use, and to boot, the packaging is gorgeous and durable enough to carry in your purse worry-free. This is now an everyday staple for me and definitely worth the price tag. Amazing Highlighter Stick
21 November 2022

Like other reviewer Miss Jane writes - I find this highlighter stick really versatile. As per her suggestion I too am using it on face (cheek bones), lips (gives an attractive luminosity with a pearly sheen) and as a base for shadows on eyes.It feels a little greasy on first application but do not be too heavy handed with it and tap it into the skin with fingers if you feel you have perhaps put too much on. It soon loses the oily feel and is an amazing partner to eyeshadows (Sisley and MAC). It forms a good base and gives a sheen to both Matt and sparkle finishes. Very pleased with this purchase. Age 73, fair complexion, hazel eyes, black hair.

My new favorite makeup essential!

Ever since I got this, I take it everywhere with me. I honestly didn't think this product would be worth the cost and when I went to the store to try it, I purchased 2 "dupes" that had been recommended along with it, fully expecting that at least one of the dupes would be at least as good. I was wrong. I kept one dupe because it was inexpensive, but returned the other. This item was exactly what I was looking for. I take good care of my skin and wanted something that would be very natural looking, something that would work for multiple areas. This looks glowy and pinky in the cheeks (I got Rosee) and then it has the same effect on the lips. It is perfect for that no-makeup makeup look and gives a bit of that glass skin look. Phenomenal subtle glow

Can’t say enough about this cream “highlighter” in Transparent. It gives the perfect natural glow without accentuating anything you don’t want accentuated. If you’re looking for a pigmented, sparkly or strobe-y highlighter, this is NOT it. It’s a truly transparent, subtle and sheer formula - perfect for a true no-makeup look with a hint of dew. Also perfect for travel, a good value and excellent quality - I’ve had the stick for over a year, use it several times a week, and it’s well over half full and as creamy as when I first opened it. Works on any skin tone as there’s no pigment, and yet despite having no pigment it somehow manages to do exactly what a highlighter should. Genius. So so worth the money.

I bought this because I swatched it in-store and it was really pretty. I was not expecting to be NEARLY as impressed with this as I am. I've tried it with and without base makeup underneath. On its own, it is an absolutely stunning highlighter. It's dewy and glass-like, while also having a beautiful shimmer to it. On top of base makeup, it is just as beautiful. It didn't break the makeup underneath. I think this will truly become a staple in my makeup routine. So glad I gave this a chance.

I got this in Transparent… can’t say I’m super impressed. I have yet to try it over more than just bare skin or a tinted moisturizer, but it’s not something I’d buy again… I might not even keep it, to be honest. It doesn’t really show up unless you’re under very specific types of light, and even out of those, it emphasizes any skin texture you have. Maybe I should’ve tried the Sculpting shade instead, but my skin is on the lighter side so I’m not sure if that would be better or worse? So -1 star for not really showing up (unless in very specific light- I work from home, so short of trying out different lights… jusr for a highlighter? Idk), -1 star for emphasizing skin texture in a strange way (I was thinking it would be glowy the same way my skin is after doing my ... MoreI got this in Transparent… can’t say I’m super impressed. fine texture and subtle, natural sheen
14 June 2023

Excellent for my mature skin (49), applies and stays on well without patchiness. Some reviews comment this product is sticky, I did not find this to be the case. Have had a few compliments since using, saying I look fresh and glowy. The highlighter is also excellent. As both products allow your skin to show through a bit, the result is natural and flattering with a subtle glow, not flat, shimmery or shiny. Doesn't seem to settle into wrinkles, also sits well after an exfoliating peel.
