Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour - Intuitive - O/S

love this lipstick so much!! a lot of lipsticks tend to crack and settle in the lines of my lips making them look so dry, but this doesn’t do that at al!! it’s so creamy and hydrating (which is rare for a lipstick in my opinion). it makes my lips look so smoothe and silky. i wear this lipstick all the time and always come back to it. definitely a staple product. it is definitely on the pricier side but very much worth it. i will keep repurchasing this and definitely recommend it if you haven’t tried it yet!!

I absolutely love Chanel lipstick! I am kinda obsessed about how fancy this lipstick is. When you open the box you see a classy black velvety case in which there is this lipstick. The description is 100% accurate where it says "an ultrafine, melt-away, second-skin-like texture." The texture of this lipstick is unbeatable. It doesn't feel heavy or gloopy on your lips. In fact I can't feel it at all. I got shade 58, Rough vie, which is a very warm-toned, dark plum with a satin finish. It’s good colour to wear on daily or a date. The texture of this lipstick very creamy and formula is pigmented. It can stay fresh on my lips for good 3-4 hours.

I have always worn neutral (nude, pale etc) lipstick, but was enticed by the colour of Pirate. Its well named in a captivating way (more the romantic notion of Pirate) than the marauding buccaneers of the sea! Definitely expect a Red Letter Day with this shade of red. I always prefer the Rouge Allure range in Chanel as the lipstick glides on smoothly, providing good coverage and moisturising lips (once my makeup is on, I do not like to retouch it - I expect it to last). However, if eating and drinking, it does gradually wear-off, just like other lipsticks albeit some colour remains on the lips. Perhaps lipcoat would help (Ive never used it). Certainly applying lipliner prior to application helps longevity of the colour. I do like lipstick and nail varnish to match - Pirate is in both ranges. In summary: A beautiful colour and a lipstick I would expect from Haute Couture House such as Chanel.

A must-have lipstick

I see many reviews clamoring for inclusion of color details - how a color looks on different skin tones can vary widely and is subjective to begin with, and just because Libre 62 looks great on me doesn't mean others might feel the same, so this review focuses on texture and wear. Both are amazing. Somehow this lipstick is velvety AND lightweight. The color is buildable, but when you do so it somehow is only the intensity of the color that builds up and not the physical thickness of the product. I find it long-lasting, and big shoutout to the packaging. Hey, not bad....

I purchased #51 Legendaire. The color on the website is pretty much the same color as the lipstick. On my lips it's red with a touch of coral/orange...Not too orange, just subtle orange with the red. Lipstick stays put on my lips with no travelling or smearing off the lips. Since I'm older, there is a little dryness and some lip line settlement. Not a deal breaker. My lipstick has been on for two hours, ate breakfast, and still the lipstick remains. Not as vibrant yet it's there.

I had this and bought it again

I regret that I swapped this lipstick with another makeup junkie because I had my colors done and was told it is wrong for me. It is not wrong. In fact, I am more comfortable in red lipsticks with a bright warm tone than the deep berry lipsticks my analyst recommended for me. I am a Bright Winter with olive skin and blue eyes. I can take a little gold metallic in my lipstick. This Coromandel lipstick has articles written about it. It is a classic for Chanel. Keira Knightly (also a Winter) wore in in Atonement, and Cate Blanchett (a Summer) wore it in Carol. It looked great on them, and also great on me. I think this suits all skins except for some that are too pale to wear it. I had to repurchase it after giving it away. I bought the matching nail polish too.

La Favorite is my new favorite!

I purchased this color after only seeing it online, and it is even better in person. On my phone, the color looked more pink, but in person and on my lips, it takes on a pinky coral red. It is very flattering for my warm undertones! (I am a spring) It reminds me of a Chanel lip color I had a long time ago called Marilyn. The consistency of the lipstick is also nice. It isn’t too matte or too shiny, and goes on smoothly. It does not last for hours, but I didn’t expect it too. Expect to reapply after eating and drinking.

Perfection

Chanel has always been a quality brand, and it shows in this lipstick. I prefer mattes, but they are always so drying and tend to feather and make your lips look horrible. Not this lipstick. It is moisturizing, multidimensional and rich in color. I have extremely fair skin, medium copper hair and brown eyes. I purchased #45/Intense, and it is the most beautiful, vibrant shade that brings light to my face. I have so many other lipsticks, and I keep reaching for this one.

the good and the not so good.

The good is the color Subtile 211. On me it's a reddish/brown. Reminiscent of the 1990's colors I loved. No feathering and very minimal transfer.The not so good: There is nothing vibrant, intense or luminous with the lipstick. No shine or satin feeling. Feels more like a matte and somewhat drying. The lipstick did settle into my lip lines. As the description states, "melt away" and that is exactly what it does, melts away with talking, eating or doing absolutely nothing. No way was this long lasting. Maybe a little more longevity than the Chanel Bloom lipsticks. I also tried color 198 Nuance which was more of a mauve brown on me. Returning Nuance and will stick with Subtile for now.
