I love my 3 cup Chemex! I don’t drink tons of coffee, and take a lot of milk and sugar in my coffee, so this small pourover is perfect for my needs. There is a small protruding knob that shows where the three cup mark is, though I’ve never brewed that much at once. My only complaint is that it’s tough to reattach the wooden bit around the middle. I remove it to clean the Chemex after every use, which deters me from using the item frequently as I just don’t want to hassle with reattaching the wooden part. Otherwise, this is a great item!

Many years ago I was taught my first manual brewing experience through this product. Since then, I have purchased an array of brewing paraphernalia. It is amazing that this product hasn't changed nor needed to in holding it's own in an ever changing industry. It isn't perfect, but doesn't need to be. I have had such a beautiful time reconnecting to this product. I give a lot of brewing gear away to folk starting out and regretted passing this on haha! Although it is extremely accessible to buy, it is easily missed if removed from one's kit. What I love most is it doesn't dictate by the coffee you're brewing. It can be a delicate tea like coffee or something heavier bodied and you get your desired result.I remember brewing in Fiji for the locals and they were amazed ... MoreMany years ago I was taught my first manual brewing experience through this product. It makes you want to photograph it. It doesn't let you down EVER!I'm about to do a cycling tour with it up the East Coast. Although I have smaller options, it's time to Chemex coffee again a while.. because I love it!Cheers!

I recently purchased the Chemex 3 cup pour over, my decision on choosing this product was based on a few things. Functional use, pricing, and verity of size options. The Chemex coffeemaker consists of an hourglass-shaped glass flask, The most visually distinctive feature of the Chemex is the heatproof wooden collar around the neck, which allows it to be easily handled and poured when full of hot coffee. The collar is turned and then split in two to allow it to fit around the glass neck. The two pieces are held loosely in place by a tied leather thong. For a design piece that became popular post-war at a time of Modernism and precision manufacture, this juxtaposition of natural wood and the organic nature of a hand-tied knot with the laboratory nature of glassware was a distinctive feature of its appearance. If you are looking for something that influences your taste in history, simplicity, art and longevity. I recommend the Chemex line of pour over products. Knowing the back story of the Chemex will certainly make you think.. I truly appreciate it . I highly recommend.

I bought my first Chemex in 1973 and lost track of it from moving throughout the years. It always made the most delicious coffee and I always thought of finding another one but for some reason,, couldn’t find one. Recently after searching stores and looking online, there it was on Williams-Sonoma.com! I happily ordered another Chemex. The same quality is still there, it’s easy to clean, you can adjust the strength of your coffee however you’d prefer and the glass vessel with its wooden band and tassel is as beautiful as I remember it being decades ago! ❤️
This is the smallest Chemex coffeemaker available, and it makes just enough coffee for one or two people. Chemex uses the European notion of "cups", so this 3 cup maker yields 15-16oz of coffee. The brew is flavorful and clean --- think the best drip you ever had but popping with taste and none of the dirty bitterness. The build quality of this item is excellent, everything is high quality and well made. The opening is just big enough to twist a towel into for drying it out after a quick swirl of soapy water and a rinse. It looks lovely on the table, and is a great addition to any kitchen!Quick note: the funnel angle is steeper on this model than on any other Chemex, so expect to use slightly less coffee than you would in other size Chemex's. Enjoy!
I must admit, I purchased my 3 and 6 cup Chemex from another company before I knew of Prima. I sure would have given their amazing customer service, but future coffee needs will be.The 3cup Chemex is my preferred method over the V-60, 6 cup Chemex or any other method actually. I prefer the 3 cup because I usually am making one or two cups max and the size is perfect, especially for 1 cup. It‰Ûªs just a little more manageable and seems more efficient. The filters are fun to fold and I do that once a week, it‰Ûªs a calming ritual. The cones are quite different in that they are narrower and the folding is more involved. One other thing I think I‰Ûªm noticing, but it could be some other variable, is that the 3 cup might produce a ever so slightly bolder flavor over the 6 cup when doing a single serve. All things equal: coffee grind, weight, water temps, amounts and times. It‰Ûªs subtle but I need to experiment more. One thing for sure is the Chemex constantly has a slightly lighter, crisper and wonderfully balanced brew over the V-60 and the French press is about to be given away.My final thoughts, it‰Ûªs beautiful, personally more appropriate in size for 1 or two cups, takes up less space in a small kitchen, and the filters are kinda fun to fold. It does seem the filters are not nearly as easy to find as the other Chemex filters. I use the 3 cup 5 days a week and the six cup once or twice per week preferring the 3 cup slightly. All the Chemex products are top notch, you can‰Ûªt go wrong with Chemex or ordering through Prima.
Great service from the AB team. This is my second Chemex 3 cup brewer. Broke my first one and missed it so much that I bought an exact replacement (my own fault for breaking it, not the quality of the Chemex product). I find that this smaller 3 cup model is the ideal size for single serve, as it seems to have a more even draw down through a small bed of grounds than the larger 6 cup version. Same clean Chemex taste just a bit easier to get consistent for a single serve. I use the standard folded half moon filters and have no complaints. Glass handle version may suit slightly better for daily use, however was out of stock when I ordered.
I finally bought this one to add to my other Chemexes. Its small, of course, but makes the same clean cup of coffee the larger ones do. Of my many coffee makers its now the one I use every morning to make two cups or so. The filer isn't the shape of the other Chemexes, it very vertical, but it does what its supposed to do.One hint I'll leave here, though it may be obvious is that the limit on how much it makes is the coffee hitting the bottom of the filter, but it can make more if you don't mind lifting up and holding the filter in a higher position. The capacity was just a little too small for me without my doing that. Now that I have this one, I realize I should have bought it a lot sooner. Definitely would buy again.
Disclaimer: I used to work at Prima Coffee. When I worked at Prima I got a damaged 3 cup Chemex for free or for pennies. So, of course when I am now unable to get super cheap slightly busted coffee equipment, my daughter decides to go all 'Kylo Ren' on our 3 cup Chemex with her bubble wand. Never mind that I should have been paying better attention to my child's actions in relation to where I left a big, all glass container. Never mind that she was really just trying to put her bubble wand away and wasn't upset in the slightest. So, I just bought another one, mainly because before I left Prima I purchased probably 1,000 3 cup filters which do not fit in our 10 cup Chemex. I really like using this 3 cup during the week; it makes not too little or too much coffee. It did ship here fast and it wasn't broken, so that's great. I recently ordered a shoe rack that goes in the dryer and they sent two broken shoe racks before shipping one that didn't break. It was packaged the same way each time. Crazy!Oh, and on the shipment box, Prima's graphic designer wrote an explanatory illustration in order to instruct my 1 year old to not get her bubble wand anywhere near our Chemex again. It was really funny and we kept the box. I'd post a picture of it but it's dark out right now.
The Chemex filter is oversized for the 3-cup Chemex coffee maker, making the combination awkward to use. I had to add water about 5 times to get 3 cups of coffee. It will fit better in my limited cabinet space, but it was probably not the best solution. It has the same sleek design as the original we owned many years ago. Frankly, the coffee didn't taste as good to us as what our minimalist drip coffeemaker produces. It will be useful as a supplement to the coffeemaker but less convenient than hoped. It was also annoying that the Chemex did not ship until the day after the box of filters arrived at our home. The filters were shipped in the same attractive C&B box as the Chemex, with lots of plastic bubbles protecting the little box of filters. Chemex Classic Coffee Maker 3 Cups
The charming Chemex coffee maker brews 3 cups of coffee in one go. All you need is your favourite coffee blend, hot water and Chemex filters. Peter Schlumbom designed the Chemex coffee maker, known for its timeless and beautiful design, in 1941. Chemex was selected as one of the best-designed items of modern times in 1956 by Illinois Institute of Technology, and it belongs to the permanent collections of renowned museums including MoMA and the Smithsonian. Schlumbohm, who had a doctorate in chemistry, took his inspiration from the shape and qualities of laboratory equipment, especially those of the funnel and the Erlenmeyer flask. To the “funnel” he added an air channel and a pouring spout and to the “flask” a small protrusion to mark the midpoint. Chemex is made of borosilicate glass that does not absorb odours or chemical residue. The wooden handle with a leather strap is a functional and eye-pleasing detail. Chemex is an ideal choice for minimalists and coffee aficionados alike.
