Chivas Regal 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky 1000ml

(4,049 reviews)

Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky that represents one of Scotland’s most iconic and internationally recognized spirits. Produced by Chivas Brothers, a house with roots dating back to the early 19th century in Aberdeen, the blend brings together malt and grain whiskies from across Scotland, with Strathisla—the oldest working distillery in the Highlands—at its heart. Every component whisky in the blend has been aged for a minimum of 12 years, ensuring maturity and integration before final assembly. The production process begins with individually crafted malt and grain whiskies, each distilled and aged in oak casks. Many of the malts are matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which lend depth and complexity during aging. Master blenders then sample hundreds of casks to select and balance components that provide both consistency and refinement. The art of blending is central to Chivas Regal, with an emphasis on harmony between the whiskies rather than dominance of any single element. Once blended, the whisky is rested to allow flavors and textures to integrate before bottling. The result is a polished Scotch that reflects Chivas Brothers’ philosophy of elegance and balance. Chivas Regal 12 Year Old stands as a benchmark in the blended Scotch category, celebrated worldwide for its craftsmanship, heritage, and consistency.

My husband’s all time favorite. He likes it on the rocks with coke. But there are many ways you can have it. It’s good with club soda too. The price isn’t too bad but it’s worth it. It’s perfect for casual or party events. I definitely recommend it, if you have never tried it before.

A creamy, aromatic melange of vanilla custard, hints of aniseed, lemon curd and butter toffee. Wood shavings and dried banana chips develop with just a hint of cassis.Palate: More of those banana chips showing through on the palate, this time there's a creamy hit of barley malt too, pepped up with a little allspice. Notes of ground walnut and caramel.Finish: Light spice and black pepper on the tail. Lingering notes of cereal sweetness.Overall: A spicy, beautifully balanced blend. Lots going on here

Have bought this as a special treat on several occasions. Beautifully packed. Very pleasant drink. Bit more superior than your average. Great value when on offer too. My husband enjoy this product. It's delicious and has that memorable taste and flavour. It's richer than other whiskeys and definitely stands out. Such a first class experience when drinking it. A good value for your money indeed. I would highly recommended this product for all my family and friends.

Chivas Regal is a world-famous Scotch blend which was first made in the early 20th century by Chivas Brothers. The company can trace its roots back to 1801, with the opening of a grocers at Number 13 King Street, Aberdeen. Consistently good Scottish quality whisky blend
5 December 2021

This whisky has got a bit pricey now at around R350 to R360 retail but the Black Friday special at Makro was around R100 per bottle discount which was an absolute bargain. My wife and I both love Chivas Regal 12 Yr for its great peaty flavour. A tip is to try our own local Three Ships 5 Yr as a good alternative too.Delivery by Makro was within two days, and we could track the driver's arrival in real-time.

Gets my top rating! I Literally call it ‘MY Drink’
1 December 2022

Love drinking this stuff. Smooth yet bold just a remarkable Scotch whisky with a deep and distinctively complex flavor profile that never gets boring and has a well polished vibe to it that is essentially unforgettable. Has a subtle but good bite (definitely not rotgut at all just a pleasant man’s man kind of good manly bite to it). I just find it be the absolute perfect drink for me-we’re a solid match and I can confidently say of this one literally that, ‘THIS is my drink’. Another worthwhile thing is Chivas has an educational YouTube channel that I found surprising as many brands seem like they could care less but this brand literally will educate you some on the history and many other associated things and ideas related to Scotch.

Good scotch, Good experience
2 May 2020

Chivas Regal scotch is not just a bottle of scotch. It is also service and attitude. The scotch does not just appear in the customer's home. It takes a staff of knowledgeable staff who stock it, lead you to it, check you out. Not to mention an attractive sales room and an efficient back stage staff to keep things humming. Not to mention the utility bills. To put it all together takes work. The whole package is an experience. The crew makes it easy. And the scotch is pretty good too.

Great Scotch for Its Price
6 December 2020

Anyone looking for a good but cheap scotch, blende or single malt, could start with this product. Will take this over JW Black Label (the most popular blended 12 Yrs scotch, arguably) any time of the day. Great nose smell of vanilla and bubble gum, palate starts with light hint of smoke and peat that are quickly enveloped by floral and syrup sweetness as well as pleasant oak wood taste, finishes with some more fruitiness and dry. The taste combines all elements of various production zones in Scotland, but does not have the bitter and tongue-burning "cracking of spices and black pepper" and "heavy smoke" that JW Black Label boasts about. The taste could rival some single-malt scotch that are 2-3 times its price.

Not your average scotch!

This aged chivas regal is set in sherry oak barrels to give it a sweet taste on the pallet, with a beautiful rich and intense finish.Served on ice, dry ginger or cola. I like to use cola with a squeeze of lime to give it that final finish

Very nicely crafted
14 November 2020

Nose: Banana ester, fruit bubble gum, dry hay, sweet vanilla with light toffee at the bottomPalate: Smoky in the front, then sweet like maple syrup, peppery spice with some mild heatFinish: The heat cools down very quickly with a modest burst of soft fruit richness. Dry and apple lingers.Comment: Very well crafted blended whisky with nicely balanced layers. Judging by the color and experience, one can reckon some whisky with longer time staying on copper as the base of this blend. But there is some delicate earthy surprise that may come from shorter fermentation camp. Overall this is a fragrant and fruity sweet whisky with depths. To be picky, I didn't like the bubble gum aroma, but it's still worth 5 stars given the price tag.
