Don't rush the setting up!

I now have the base unit and 3 nodes. I have a 3000 sq ft single story old farm house. Like built in 1886 thick wall and plaster farm house. With these 4 units I get perfect reception through out the whole house, plus a big amount of the outside area. Would buy again. Will recommend. Great product.

Purchased this after reading plenty of reviews stating that its got super great parental controls and time scheduling. Exactly what I was after. The mesh works flawlessly and I am happy with that.BUT be aware the time scheduling DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY!!!!I set up time schedules for the kids devices of when they can have internet access. The time schedules during the week works correctly. But the schedules for the weekends does not work.On the router it shows that the devices should have internet access. But on the devices itself it shows no internet access. After contacting Asus and Geek squad it came out that this is a known issue thats been around since 2018. For some people it doesn't work at all or intermittent and for others weekends work but not week time ... MorePurchased this after reading plenty of reviews stating that its got super great parental controls and time scheduling. And the fact that its a known issue for such a ling time and not being resolved. Its easy to use and set up.Come on Asus how hard can it be….

GREAT WiFi 6 Mesh System
4 June 2022

On June 1, 2022 I had the ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-band WiFi 6 Mesh System (XT8 2PK) installed at my home. My home is about 2400 sq. ft. The ASUS Mesh System replaced a Netgear dual band WiFi router. My Internet provider is Spectrum. With Spectrum Internet service I pay for 200Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. However, with my Netgear WiFi router I was only receiving 41 Mbps download and 11 Mbps upload and at my office location (about 2 ft. from the Netgear router). After installing the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System in my home, I received 234 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload at my office (about 2 ft. from the ASUS WiFi router). That’s an unbelievable increase of 193 Mbps download at the same location.Another example of the performance with the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System was the speed difference I received in my garage. With the Netgear WiFi router and a WiFi 6 iPhone 11 Pro Max client\device, I received 7.2 Mbps download and 9.7 Mbps upload. However, with the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh I received 230.8 Mbps download and 11.7 Mbps upload with the same device. That’s an amazing increase of 223.6 Mbps download with the ASUS ZenWiFi 6 Mesh System!!!In fact, with the iPhone 11 Pro Max a WiFi 6 device, I averaged 228.7 Mbps download and 11.4 Mbps upload with the ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-band WiFi 6 Mesh System (XT8 2PK), throughout my home (2400 sq. ft.). With the Netgear dual band router and iPhone 11 Pro Max a WiFi 6 device, I averaged of 26.5 Mbps download and 9.9 Mbps upload. What a GREAT IMPROVEMENT!!! With the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System, I’m getting the bandwidth speeds (200 Mbps download, 11 Mbps upload) that I’m paying for from Spectrum (my Internet provider). However, with the Netgear WiFi router I averaging about 26.5 Mbps download and 9.9 Mbps upload. The ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 easily averaged over 228 Mbps download over the Netgear WiFi router.I’m thrilled with the purchase of my ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-band WiFi 6 Mesh System (XT8 2PK). Before purchasing the ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-band WiFi 6 Mesh System (XT8 2PK), I watched YouTube videos about the installation and performance of the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System and saw the performance increase these individuals reported. I never thought I would get the improves they received. However, after installing the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System and conducting speed tests throughout my home, I can honestly state that I received GREAT performance from the ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Mesh System!!! I highly recommend the ASUS ZenWiFi AX6600 Tri-band WiFi 6 Mesh System (XT8 2PK)!!!

Good Coverage, compatibility issues, poor support

I am being offered an extended warranty for my review. Setup was not as easy as I anticipated. The system did not sync the first two times I went through setup. Finally got the two units to sync and acquire internet the third time. i was already familiar with the ASUS router setup firmware, which is fantastic. Very easy to use. I do wish that explanations on settings were more in depth and available right from within the router page. The units are nice looking .. lots of plastic, but I assume they are fairly well built. I did feel the units are quite expensive and not sure I have seen enough if an improvement over my old ASUS RT-AC68U to justify such a steep cost. I did feel the units are quite expensive and not sure I have seen enough if an improvement over my old ASUS RT-AC68U to justify such a steep cost. Additionally, I have found that the ASUS ZenWIFI have some serious compatibility issues with LIFX lights. I am going on 5 weeks now trying to get help from ASUS support on this issue. I also don't like that the router makes decisions on what device I want a particular client to bind to once I have mad e that decision. The router's decision in most cases makes no sense when it chooses a node all the way on the other side of the house rather than the node in the same room. Overall though, there appears to be an improvement in my other Smart devices to include Google Home, max and mini .... Google Nest .... Windows, Android and Apple devices. I gave four stars as I am assuming things will improve with new updates. At this moment I'd give 3 stars due to the compatibility issues with 5 of my LIFX lights. Even in full legacy mode the lights are having difficulty and sadly, ASUS support is perhaps the worst I have ever experienced. I have a direct comparison against the support I have received from LIFX.

It's a beast - Love it
28 October 2022

This is a bittersweet review.I have had 5 Asus routers and wasted the last 2 weeks trying to configure a couple of them into an AiMesh network. Asus's concept of AiMesh is great, re-use existing routers to expand your home mesh network. Their RT-AX88U sucked and the whole thing is buggy. After giving up, as a last resort I bought a pair of these XT8 routers and configured them in a wired 1GB ethernet backhaul setup with the main router connected to 1GB cable company Internet connection. This freed up the 3rd band as a second 5G network with Wi-Fi 6 support. I've gotten over 900Mbps on my phone! It's been solid for two weeks since I set it up.

Long Term Unreliable
29 July 2022

Most positive reviews are done pretty soon after set up. And it was easy to set up and at first I was happy with this system. But if you have this system for any length of time (around 4 to 6 months) it will start randomly rebooting and restarting dropping all connections. Particularly bad after any firmware update. It is not reliable. Sometimes it settles down after a couple of weeks. I have tried rebooting, soft factory resets, hard resets, switching the nodes in case it was the main node that had a problem and nothing has stopped the problem. You can Google and you will find this is a common issue that ASUS won’t acknowledge or fix. I rate this a Do not buy.

Mix Mesh Wi-Fi 6
10 February 2023

I bought this to replace the teo defective XT8 as nodes connected with the XT9 wireless backhaul to form a mesh wifi system. They work well together. Wifi signal and coverage are much stronger than the XT8 wireless backhaul I used before. Hope they keep running well after any coming firmware updates.P.S. After the last firmware update my 2 XT8 nodes lost connection with the XT8 wireless backhaul frequently. Asus can't fix the issue and offer me a buyback. I decided to try to use XT9 as a wireless backhaul and 2 XT8 as nodes. Since XT9 is almost double the price of XT8.

Perfect for fiber optic internet
29 November 2023

Easy to setup with the app--it is powerful and simple! Seamlessly added nodes to ensure full-house coverage. Plenty of features to configure your wireless for surfing, gaming, guest wifi, and much more! Works perfectly with my fiber optic internet. After comprehensive research the Asus ZenWiFi AX6600 XT8 2-pack was the obvious winner for my home. Highly recommend!

Review of ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Whole Home WiFi System - Twin Pack
28 December 2022

Good Points: Neat units, easy to setup, highly configurable.Improvement Points: Cannot recommend based on my experience. Range was no better than BT discs for half the price. Both units intermittently dropped wifi and the unit I had as remote needed hard resets. This was on latest firmware. Plenty about this online and poor support with no timely fixes so returned for money back.
