The way I use it is after washing my face or before applying makeup. It gives me the extra clean feeling without making my face feel stiff. ALERT-New Formula

I have been a loyal Clarins customer for 25+ years. The original Camomile toner was a staple in my routine for that entire time. Recently I bought some items I was running low on, toner was one. When I got home I realized the sales person had sold me the new Hydrating Toner. By the time I realized, I had already opened it and used it. This was a really bad corporate decision for Clarins to discontinue such a crowd favorite and replace it with an item that has alcohol plus a not very nice smell. The other toner was simple, and unintrusive which I suspect is why so many liked it. I will be looking to replace my toner in the near future with a different brand and most likely, that will also inspire me to move all my creams and serums over to a new brand as well.

Bring back the old toner

I have been a customer for over 25 years. Of course my genetic help but clarin has been given credit for me looking over 12 years younger. I am in my early 40's and according to many looks late 20-early 30's. Now I am thinking of trying another company. 2 of my products were changed and the replacements are angry at me at the moment. My toner and face wash was changed. I have been using the new products for a week now, so decided to stick it out for the mth before switching. sometime you will breakout after trying something new. That's what I am hoping is going on because I don't want to change company. My skin texture is very dry and it has nothing to do with the change of season. It's a different kind of dryness. I was gifted this product by The Beauty Works for review, I love Clarins products and this Calm Essential range has been such a lifesaver to my red, blotchy skin. I love the packaging by Clarins, this oil came in a glass dropper. It just looks super fancy with its usual red and white logo packaging. The dropper is very easy to use and you only need a few drops mixed with the soothing emulsion. Disappointed!

Like many other customers on this website, I have been using the yellow chamomile toner for many years and I was perfectly happy with it. Imagine my disappointment when I tried to replenish my stock of this lovely product and discovered that it is no longer available and has been discontinued by Clarins! I have tried the replacement product - it was purchased for me as a gift by a family member - and it is certainly not as effective nor as pleasant to use as the original toner. It does not possess that distinctive Clarins fragrance and it is inferior in quality to the original lotion. The fact that it is a clear coloured liquid in a yellow tinted bottle makes the customer think that they are purchasing a product which is a near relation of the original toner, but ... MoreLike many other customers on this website, I have been using the yellow chamomile toner for many years and I was perfectly happy with it. Ingredients of update look good

I am basing this review on having used a 10ml sample of this product which is the replacement for the much beloved former yellow chamomile toner. Relative to its counterpart cleansing milk replacement this is something of a more impressive replacement product. I have no hard criticism and also like what seems to be some thoughtfully selected actives including aloe, chlorella vulgaris (thought to promote collagen) as well as fig and crocus flower, which both appear to be new extracts in the Clarins arsenal. Notably gone however is the tried and true panthenol which was present in all three of the old toners, as well as Roman chamomile (not German-check the difference based on the latin names), the gently exfoliating lactic acid, the precious linden flower extract ... MoreI am basing this review on having used a 10ml sample of this product which is the replacement for the much beloved former yellow chamomile toner. Notably gone however is the tried and true panthenol which was present in all three of the old toners, as well as Roman chamomile (not German-check the difference based on the latin names), the gently exfoliating lactic acid, the precious linden flower extract which is a multi faceted skin hero, and makes an appearance also in the dry sensitive formula, and very notably, alpha glucan oligosaccharide, which was used in the old milks, toners as well as the beloved cottonseed foaming cleanser for normal to combination skin-obviously making this an important and effective ingredient whose worthy substitute in this toner isn't clear. Performance wise, texture and smell wise, I prefer the old normal dry toner with chamomile and the very beautiful dry sensitive version. They left my skin feeling cleaner and fresher but also softer and more moisturized it seems than this version which is a bit waterier perhaps with less slip. You don’t sense great benefits being left to sit on your skin though perhaps with more time I'd notice them. It is an OK/acceptable replacement and I'm going more on the attempts to incorporate some ostensibly decent ingredients than on use over time. I went through 2 bottles of chamomile and have another one left so I wouldn't be purchasing this any time soon. I sense there are equally pleasant and effective if not more effective toners out there for less money and the price itself isn't an issue because there are also probably equal or inferior versions out there for more money. Don't mind using but wouldn't rush out to buy.

Leaves you feeling like royalty

I initially received this product as a sample. It was the standout product for me. I purchased a 200ml bottle before the sample had even been used up. The feeling I'm left with is fresh, and the scent is divine! The saffron flower is the star of the show. Once the Hydrating Toning Lotion has been used, one doesn't feel the need to apply moisturiser, as it doesn't leave your skin feeling stretched and dry as other toners do. My skin is left glowing and clear after applying the toner, which is the best part of my skincare regimen. 100% recommend! 100% indulgent.

Missed the old chamomile toner!

I have been a loyal Clarins customer for 15+ years and had been using chamomile toner until it was discontinued. Whenever I had a skin problem, e.g after using new products or other brands products, I always temporarily suspended using any other products but using chamomile toner to calm down my skin. it always worked!. The new toner is fine but without the calming magic as the old chamomile toner. The new one sometimes even irradiates my skin, quite minor but noticeable. I am disappointed. Besides, the two toners are different products, so the reviews should be separate ones. Many of the high ratings are from the old products. The mixed reviews of two products do not give customers a true picture of the new one. So Sad

Let me say that there a few Claims products that I cannot do without. I have every option of their lip oil (with backups. On hand). This was such a fail for three reasons s. 1 - The opening pours out way too much. I am forced to use a cotton pad or it is everywhere. 2 - The smell is so strong my eyes water. Don't get me wrong. I do not mind earthy or medicinal natural scents. This wasn't either. 3 - I would happily put up with 1 and 2 if this product actually hydrated my skin. It does the opposite! My skin feels dry and tight. If you have an oily skin type, you might enjoy this. It is a hard pass for me.
