The heat shield is the icing on the cake for my 4P Evo tent. Just be careful when zipping it on. The heat shield really provides a great shaded area on a hot day. It is much better than the little awnings that come with tents as standard. It will be great to have a larger area to share a cuppa & chat with friends at a festival. I cannot wait to get on the road and use it. This is a great idea Coleman!

A nice addition to the tent - allows you to have an awning without compromising the use of the tent's front door which is important when you camp in the rain or cold climate. It can be attached to the gazebo with velcro loops - we attached it to our oztrail fiesta 2.4m gazebo and it worked pretty well (the velcro panels lined up too - it would fit a 3m gazebo better as there was a gap to one side but we are happy we didnt need to replace the gazebo unnecessarily). Kept us dry in the rain but as it is plasticy on the inside it did have quite a lot of condensation on the underside in the morning.
The awning complements the well designed tent. It is easy to set up once one gets the hang of it. I will take it down in the event of strong winds. It is definitely worth having if you are staying more than a day in any location.
We attached ours as a roof & 2 side walls & it performed pretty well during some windy & rainy weather. The rain collected in the awning but it stayed connected & didn’t drag the tent down. We experimented when we got it home & found that lowering the middle pole enabled the water to run off without collecting. (As the poles aren’t collapsible, just position the bottom of the pole further out from its upright position).
Unfortunately I am still not able to erect this awning as 12 weeks later I haven't received the tent that it connects to. However the 6P Gold Series Evo Awning is fantastic at stopping drafts from coming under my front door on cold and windy days. It is also great for adding that extra boost if you need to raise your PC Monitor. It is slightly too hard for the pets to sleep on and too lumpy to use as a couch cushion, and do NOT buy this to use as a tablecloth as it isn't even rectangular! Whilst I like the colour, my wife just doesn't like it lying around in the living room. I strongly recommend that you consider buying a tent to go with this awning
As the 6P tent doesn't have much of a vestibule, I bought this awning to provide shade and rain protection. The side panels overlap the fly and seal quite well without the need for a physical connection. I'm not convinced about the strength of the zip connection to the fly, though, as I think the zip will be under a lot of strain in windy conditions. Although I would take the awning down if I knew there were to be strong winds, it may happen that I'm not around to do that if there is a sudden change in the weather. To that end, I'm adding trace springs to the guys, to relieve the tension on the zip, although I'm sure (hope!) that Coleman have thoroughly tested this. This awning makes the 6P tent so much more comfortable - just get one! And maybe some trace springs.
