Sleep in after the sun rises or put the kids to bed early while the sun is still up with a Coleman Carlsbad 4-Person Dome Tent with Screen Room. It's a great way to stay away from bugs while enjoying the great outdoors and with a full floor you can use it for extra sleeping space on warmer nights. If it rains the WeatherTec system with its patented welded floors and inverted seams will help you stay dry. Awnings over the windows create ventilation without letting in any rain. Illumiline reflective guy lines are more visible at night so you don't get tripped up if you need to take a walk in the dark. Setup is simple with snag-free continuous pole sleeves and the patented pin-and-ring system. Inside there's enough room to stretch out on two queen-sized airbeds and storage pockets help to keep small items organized. Im on night 5 of 5 staying in this tent. Its a great tent lots of room. I have a queen sized air matress in here along with a ton of camping supplies. It has 4 windows total. On the back it is mostly screen. I did put the rain cover on and it covers all the back and sticks out at the sides so you can have the windows unzipped while its raining. The rain cover also covers the top of the screened in porch area. I give it 4 stars because it did get some water in all the corners during an epic thunderstorm. But it stood strong and the inside didn't flood. Now the screened in porch area was pretty flooded since there is nothing to cover the front with. But a few towels to soak up the water fron the screened porch.

The inside has dark room effect in the upper sections but the lower walls do not .The screen area is great but the fly doesn’t cover the screen section therefore rain comes directly into this area . The positioning of the fly over the main tent section allows rain to run from the screened area roof under the fly and down the tent walls .Bought Coleman brand as a quality tent but was disappointed in this particular model. The tent was roomy (2xking single mattresses and plenty of space for luggage) and was easy to erect.

After a one night trial run I cant really say if I think this is a good tent. Has some good features and some poor design qualities so I'm kinda on the fence.Pros - Good size when set up, would take 4 people, 3 comfortably but ideally 2 people with gear.Packed size and weight are excellent for a tent this size, could easily use for hiking or on the back of a bike. The dark room feature I think is a little overstated but still does its job of keeping things a little darker in the morning.Well appointed with several off floor storage pockets and a lamp hook in the centre of the internal area. The fly works well on the areas it covers including the windows which can be left open in rainy weather.Cons - The awning area is a design disaster for wet weather as ... MoreAfter a one night trial run I cant really say if I think this is a good tent. I can't believe they maintained this design when it was an obvious problem because there is a mesh strip in the floor at the back of the awning to let water drain out. Without a doubt the biggest con of this tent. For all the talk of its weather tec design any area that was not protected by the fly had some amount of water come through, not a lot but finding water on the floor inside your new tent doesn't score good points.Zippers can be a little fiddly if you are trying to open the tent one handed while carrying something but that is a little on the nit picky side. All in all not a bad tent but one that could have been so much better with some minor design changes. In good weather I think this would be a good tent but you cant always count on the weather.I have also seen some reviews saying the tent has no ventilation. I did my test on a fairly cool and wet night but never really noticed a problem. In summer with no wind it might get warmer but weather permitting you could leave the fly off and I couldn't see it being a big issue.

I really like the compact storage for this tent upon opening the box when it came. Everything fits nicely inside the storage bag. It is also great how all the parts were tied onto the inside of the tent. This will make it easy to keep everything together in one place. There are instructions and pictures to show how to put the tent together inside the bag. how ingenious is that? I still thought it would be a good idea to watch some videos on Youtube to see how to put it together. The videos I looked at were short and helpful to see what to do. It is relatively easy to put together. I had help. I think it is best for more than one person to set it up and to take it down. The inside is very roomy. I think it would have to be smaller framed people to fit 6 comfortably. ... MoreI really like the compact storage for this tent upon opening the box when it came. I have to have darkness in order to be able to sleep comfortably and this works well. It zips up inside to reveal darkness. If air is needed, then it can be unzipped. Overall, this is a great tent and seems to be made well. The tent is easy to take down after using. The parts go bag into bags that were also included. They have ties so it can be attached on the tent and then placed inside the storage bag. This s a well thought out design to the tent.
We bought this for a five night camping trip in the Kananaskis. The space fit a queen size air mattress and a travel cot for our 15 month old with room to spare. It would not fit 6 grown adults, maybe 4. The vestibule was a great place to put our daughter when we were cooking because we could see her and she was protected from bugs. If it were raining, you’d have to put up a proper tarp to prevent things from getting soaked in the vestibule. Not a big deal. I had to use every guy line to ensure the wind didn’t mess with the tent. It took me about 10 minutes to put it up by myself, quicker with my partner. The pre-attached poles were strange and I can tell they’re a cheaper quality than our MSR tent, but it’s why this tent is cheaper. The darkening features were helpful for putting our child down for naps and so she wasn’t up at the crack of dawn. It may have helped keep the tent a little bit cooler but it might have also been the entire back wall being mesh. I don’t know how well this tent would hold up in pouring rains, but for a summer camper with fair weather, it’s great!
First off I want to say that this is a great tent, the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I do not see how six adults could sleep comfortably in this tent. Four adults, yes that would work or even two adults with four little ones. That being said, we only have one kiddo left at home and it's only for a couple of years and then he's gone...this is a great tent for us to downsize with. When you zip up the side and front windows it does get very dark inside, even with the back open. Inside the tent, on the very top is a hook for you to hang a lantern. So nice, no more burning holes in the floor. With just two or three of us we could enjoy the inside if we had a rainy day. I also love the front porch, I have always wanted one. All we have to do is put in a couple comfy chairs and we can sit there and enjoy nature. The tent was pretty easy to put up...my husband did it in about 30 min., give or take.
Very roomy with great ventilation and great views around it. It has lots of extras like the screen room , screens on the doors and sides, and the dark interior ( good for excessive heat and light). Do not think this is easy to put up. The graphic instructions are very bad and instructions are useless. The picture on the storage bag does work. We were able to disassemble and store in 15 minutes. Overall, met our expectations.
It’s was a ok tent. But the fall back the porches screen floods no matter what. The drainage is horrible. You will get soaked. The tent leaked on the inside brand new never used. It was raining and it was leaking towards the bottom at the corners on the seams. So the inside of the tent floor was wet also. Then the side walls all leaked. The center of the tent is perfect yes to stand up but if you have a air up mattress you literally have to stay hunched over to walk around. The dark technology is a joke. It was a little darker than other tents yes but not completely dark. You could see daylight through the zippers lol and out rain fly had pin holes in it all over the place. I got the 8 person Carlsbad as well as the 4 person. I am so used to these I wouldn't go anywhere else at this point. I don't know if I'm going crazy or what but in both tents there was no rod for the rain fly. Other than that everything is fine. I see a lot of complaints about it leaking and things like that but if the tent is set up properly and it's tight it won't leak. If it's not tight the rain will gather in the seams and eventually yeah it's going to leak through. The waterproof floor goes up about 6 or 8 inches on all sides so as long as it's a straight down slope and not allowed to collect anywhere the rain won't get in. One thing I noticed a lot of people didn't mention was the back wall of the tent is one solid screen. There's no zip up window or any way ... MoreI got the 8 person Carlsbad as well as the 4 person. One thing I noticed a lot of people didn't mention was the back wall of the tent is one solid screen. There's no zip up window or any way to close it if it's super windy out. So in order to block anything out from that giant screen you would be having to put the rain fly on no matter what. It didn't bother me but I could see a lot of people going what the heck why can't I close this? It's pretty dark in there especially when you have the rain fly on in the mornings. I don't know I like it. Of course I'm pretty easy to please. I just don't know what's going on with the rain fly rod. So unless I can find a substitute it's going to just lay on there. Walmart, you know, they don't know anything. If you guys have any suggestions about that let me know. Thanks!
We bought this tent because it had good ratings on Amazon and we liked the screen room feature. What we weren't expecting was that the fabric is literally see-through at night and the "darkroom technology" is a joke.See-through fabric:This is the deal breaker for us. When you have a light on in the tent at night, the fabric becomes literally see-through. I'm not talking about silhouettes. I'm talking being able to make out colors and facial features. If you want to change clothes at night, you better do it in the dark or you'll be putting on a show for anyone that walks moderately close to your tent. See the pictures I included in this review. The first is from about 15 ft away an you can see our mattress pretty clearly. The second is from right by the tent and you can easily see my wife's face and even tell she's wearing glasses. This is just unacceptable and overrides any positives about this tent."Darkroom technology" is a joke:This tent was marketed as blocking out 90% of sunlight so you can sleep in past sunrise or take a nap in the afternoon, but at 7:45am it looked like we had a light on in our tent. See pictures in this review. The fabric did nothing to block the sunlight. Normally this wouldn't really be an issue, but this is the exact opposite of what the tent claimed to do.We will be seeking a refund for this tent and I would not recommend it to anyone.
