Very solid option for camping in most conditions. Set up time is relatively quick, but not as quick as some of their instant set up models. Best to have 2 people for assembly. I paid around $100 for mine on an Amazon deal. I would have paid double that based on the quality of the tent. Have used mine frequently for 3 years and have had no issues. It has paid for itself in that time. A good solid option for those looking to do some camping without paying ridiculous prices for a cabin at a campground. One suggestion that is very important... Always set it up after camping if rained on. Set it up in your backyard for a day or so to avoid possible mold or mildew. Protect your investment and it will work out for you many years.

Absolutely in love with this tent!!! Size: the 6 person tent fit a queen size air mattress with several feet on either side. Very large inside. We are able to walk around in it easily. There are usually just 2 of us camping in it, but we still enjoy the size to be able to walk around, get changed, and stand up. Our previous 4 person tent did not allow for as much comfort. Weather proof: this tent was used during several thunderstorms and not a single drop of water got in. Very impressed with this Darkroom: absolutely amazing. The darkroom is the BEST part about this tent! It keeps the tent dark and cool in the morning. In our other tents, it would become extremely hot and bright by 6am. I attached a photo of how dark it remains even at 2pm. Sturdiness setup: the tent seems to be made of high quality materials and we feel very confident in the integrity of the tent. Feels very well constructed. Setup is just as simple as any other comparable tent. Nothing difficult. Overall: highly recommend, and I do recommend spending the extra few dollars for the DarkRoom. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!

This is a fantastic tent, as expected from Coleman, very high quality and lives up to the name. I like the colors, material is good, waterproof which is a plus, with a rainfly/wind blocker as well if ever needed. If you are an old-schooler for tent assembly, then you definitely will have no problem putting this together, even for those new to the game, it's all relatively straightforward, and the bag is wonderful, there's a tear strip which gives you more room to put it all back in when you are done, eliminating the old frustrations we used to have with putting tents away, ha ha. Tent stakes in place nicely and the 3-person one is super roomy inside. Easily fits a queen mattress with some room to spare. This is a wonderful upgrade from what I had previous, and I ... Great tent. I set it up in my backyard, to give it a trial run (and seam seal) before taking it out camping. There are pros and cons... Pros: Carry bag - the tent comes neatly packed in a carry bag, with tent, poles, rain fly, ground stakes, door mat, and instructions. Setup - Easy. Set up by myself, with rain fly, in under 15 minutes. Didn't have to look at the directions. Only suggestion would be to put the word "front" somewhere on the rain fly to indicate which way it goes. However, a quick glance at the packaging will tell you. Materials - the tent material seems to be of good quality, and should hold up well when taken care of. The zippers are not heavy duty, but i see no issues with them. The floor is heavy duty tarp material. Screens - the tent has large ... MoreGreat tent. The zippers are not heavy duty, but i see no issues with them. The floor is heavy duty tarp material. Screens - the tent has large screen panels on the "ceiling", which makes for a great view when the rain fly is not on. There is an additional window, and screen on the door for extra viewing and airflow. Floor Vent - there is a vent near the rear of the tent, which allows for additional airflow. Cord access - there is a small zippered panel in the front corner, that let's you run an extension cord into the tent. Other "Pros": I got the Navy/Grey tent, and the colors are cool. Got some compliments from the neighbors on it. I like that the rain fly comes with the guy lines already attached. The interior gear pockets are fine, good for holding your phone. Wouldn't stuff them with anything heavy. There is a little "ring" at the center of the ceiling, to hang a small light. While you could technically fit 2 queen air mattresses, I would not. It leaves no floor space for gear. I will put in one mattress, and leave the other half of the tent for my kids Pack n' Play, and gear. It will fit the 3 of us comfortably. However, unless you intend to get cozy, I wouldn't advise this for 4 adults (but it could be done). Cons: Stakes - the stakes are just ok...they are the generic skinny steel ones. I would recommend spending an extra $10 bucks and buy some good ones. Footprint - the tent doesn't come with a footprint, though I imagine this helps keep the cost so low. Not a big deal, I use a tarp anyways. Door Screen - the upper half of the door can be unzipped to reveal the screen window. I really would have liked if the entire door could be screen, not just the top half. I also purchased some Coleman Seam Sealer, and sealed all the seams inside the tent, and the rain fly. Some of the seams are taped, but it's just good practice to spend the time to do this, no matter what brand/cost/etc tent you have. It saves headache down the road. Overall, I'm very pleased with the tent, and the cost. It will work well for short camping trips with a small family, couple, or individual.
Our order arrived quickly and the tent is exactly as described. We camped for more than a week as we traveled through several states by car. We had no high winds and no heavy rain during our travels. We cleaned our tent after we got back home, and it still looks like a new tent. For two adults the size feels luxurious. It is a very basic tent. No gear loft or vestibule and only two small side pockets for storage. Only in the extreme center of the tent can my husband stand up without bending his knees, but we mainly use the tent for sleeping, changing clothes, or sitting on folding chairs. The tent is easy to set up and take down if you take your time to get the tent "centered" on the poles before trying to slide the poles over the corner anchors while carefully ... I am just under 5' tall and can set it up and take it down by myself - though it takes only 5 minutes to do either if you have help. We have camped and set up tents for many years. I recommend using a ground cloth underneath to extend the life of this or any tent. Read the attached instructions and take your time setting up this tent for the first time. Practice at home - even indoors or in a garage! We did NOT use the tent stakes that came with the tent but used much stronger ones that we already owned. I HAVE used the kind of stakes included with the tent, but the ground has to be quite firm without any rocks, and the weather has to be almost ideal in terms of very little breeze and no rain.
This 6-Person Dark Room Sundome was the 4th Coleman 10x10 6-person tent I have purchased over the past 25 years. They all got lots of use and held up as expected except the newest "Darkroom" version. I REALLY love the sun and heat blocking ability of the Dark Room tent, but I found the half-screened doorway much harder to use than older versions. I liked the captured-main cross-poles but was disappointed when a moderately stormy passage of a cold front snapped one of the poles, ripped through the fly and flattened the tent soaking the inside. The older non-captured cross-pole tents survived many similar storms undamaged. Replacement parts for this $180 tent are not available.
My prior Colman tent, which I loved, lost the weather sealing and during a rainstorm this weekend, soaked all the contents inside. Because walmart was the only thing open this weekend for a replacement, we sought out a replacement tent. We decided to go with the Coleman Sundome due to limited choices at the store. While this was great with light rain, the next night, the temperatures dropped and it got pretty windy. I would NOT recommend this tent in any windy situations. The stakes that came with the tent easily came out of the ground and turned out tent into quote the parachute.Whole trying to sleep, the design of the tent allowed for so much wind to enter inside. With that also being said, the poles held up, but don't be surprised if it feels like the tent will collapse on you or the poles will snap in the windy conditions.I really liked the last Coleman tent, and I'm not sure if I'm able to return tbis after using it, but I am going to try.
The mesh venting is key in warm weather. it allows for great air circulation. We even had a fan plugged in inside which made it very comfortable. We were able to fit a double height queen sized air mattress with plenty of room to store all of our stuff. We were able to stand up inside easily to change. We also had room for a little side table. We use a carabiner to hang a lamp and still have room to stand. I am 5‘6“ and my boyfriend is 5‘10“. We do wish that the rain fly came out a little further/longer as our camping neighbors were close and while laying in bed I can easily see over to the next camp. In order to get that good ventilation you have to have the rain fly pulled out which with the mesh venting doesn’t offer a lot of privacy. There’s no option to close ... In order to get that good ventilation you have to have the rain fly pulled out which with the mesh venting doesn’t offer a lot of privacy. There’s no option to close the vents either. So I would imagine this tent is not good in cooler or cold weather. We didn’t experience rain so I have no idea how it would be if it rained, but I can imagine also that this might not be such a great tent in that type of situation with a lot of wind on top of it. this is a six person tent and I would say two people fit very comfortably. If you were to try to fit another mattress inside you would have zero room for any storage. with the venting I would say probably don’t want to be pressed right up against the walls as you might have moisture issues.
I bought 17 of these for the National Scout Jamboree. Of the 17, the shock cord immediately broke (on first assembly) on one pole, and by the third assembly maybe half had had one ferrule fall off of the end of a pole, or ready to fall off. (So about one quarter of all main poles - and we lost one of them.) None of these were catastrophic for us - we fixed the broken shock cord, and the ferrules fell off after the trip. However, had the shock cord break been in a different place, or had we lost a ferrule before or during the trip, it could have been bad.Taking a longer view, my troop has had two of these and a dozen or so Sundome 3s. Most of the originals have died after maybe eight to ten years and eighty to a hundred trips. They fail in two places: the ferrules wear holes in the pole sleeves, and the main door zippers fail. That's not counting the occasional splintered pole segment; those can be replaced. We've probably had one or two splintered pole segments per tent.If I had to pick a single thing to improve, it would be to make the zippers more robust. That's what's finally killed ours.Note: We're in Southern California. We pretty much never camp in the rain, so don't have significant information on leaking. This last trip to West Virginia had a number of rainstorms and we didn't have any problems, but we did preemptively apply seam sealer just in case.Net: they're pretty solid, but keep some spare shock cord and ferrules on hand, and for the long run learn to replace pole segments. Remember that one of our failures was on first assembly.
This has good working zippers. Camping with kids the zippers get used and abused a lot. These zippers have been good. Simple and sturdy 2 pole set up. Have used it in moderate wind and rain and it performed well. The windows dont unzip fully. For some reason they stop about 3" from the bottom of their screens. This creates a pocket that flies and bugs get trapped in and accumulate in. Its not easy to clean them out. Both windows now have a row of dead bugs all the way across the bottom of them that I can't really clean out. This tent has a lot of ventilation so it's great on warm or mild weather outings. Not great for heavy winds or cold temps.Reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of the dimensions being off. The product says 10'x10' but its only 9.5'x9.5'. Not ...
