I had just ordered and promptly returned two pairs of boots by better-known boot-makers. The first were just glorified shoes and looked as though they wouldn't last a fortnight. The second (nearly twice the price) were so uncomfortable they seemed not made for human feet. Third time lucky here. The women's size 6 were out of stock but I saw that men's were made in size 6 and – even better – were trimmed with brown instead of pink. (Pink is ok for party frocks, but boots??) They were comfortable first time on, my feet and ankles well supported, good grip, lacing system sturdy, and – although only tested so far in wet grass and the occasional puddle – they look to be genuinely waterproof. At this rock-bottom price it all seems too good to be true!

Bought these 6 months or so ago. Work on a golf course that sells/uses Columbia products so expected solid results. After 4 months, hole appeared where mesh meets the sole. Needless to say, water enters at will. Hole appeared on the other shoe in the same location a short time later. Appears to be a design or mfg flaw but too long since purchase at DSW to return. Guess I'll try another brand.

I was lured in by the promise of dry feet, as the little tag on the display shoe boldly declared, "Guaranteed Waterproof!" I thought, "Finally, a pair of affordable hiking boots from a reputable brand that will keep my tootsies as dry as the Simpson in a heatwave." However, my excitement was as short-lived as my Vodafone reception on the trail. These boots are about as waterproof as a paper umbrella in a cyclone. I've seen funnels keep more water out than these things! On the bright side, they kept the water in perfectly, making great foot Jacuzzis on the go.Reasonably comfortable though and good grip so they get 2 stars.

First off im NOT a hiker. Im a fat guy from missouri who decided to go hiking in the Rockies. After looking at Merrels and Salamon boots in the $175-230 price range i wasnt happy with the fit and feel. The gentleman at the store suggested these and they were Very comfortable. I bought them on a thursday, and wore them on an 11 mile hike up 2,000 feet that saturday, and my feet never hurt once! No break in, and no blisters! They are absolutely not a replacement for snow cleats, but in mud and over rocks they performed exceptionally! They felt pretty warm at first but still breath well. And my feet stayed completely dry after walking through creeks and up a waterfall. I highly recommend these boots! Having used this for the past year its an okay shoe. To start things out, the shoes insoles are horrendous. They are just bad to the point where they feel uncomfortable and cheaply made. In fact I would recommend you if you get these shoes to throw away the included insoles as they provide 0 comfort and hurt your feet after you hike beyond 8 miles. The next con thing about these shoes is the waterproofing. In fact when hiking local mountains like Mt. Baldy, Cucamonga Peak, and other higher peaks, these shoes would do horrible at the most in the snow which would required me to use my other Columbia shoes in order to summit the peak. In fact these shoes are not meant with use of crampons they will not work in fact these are flexible shoes not meant for those peaks. I would say they are micro spikes compatible. If you want an Crampons the only ones that will work securely are K10 from Kahtoola and I would recommend getting Columbia Titanium Hiking Shoes, Columbia Newton Ridge as these two products fits well with the K10 and microspikes as my friends used them on their and would fit well. Other than that this shoe is good mainly for the summer not for the winter more or less.If your looking for summer hiking shoes they are good but if your looking for something for both seasons (Winter/Summer) then avoid this shoe and get the Columbia Terrebonne II Mid Titanium Outdry Extreme Men's Hiking Boot or the Columbia Newton Ridge. As these two products are good for both seasons.
Pulled these out of the box, when I first put them on, they were a little snug. Wore them for about two hours, and I was surprised with how comfortable they became. I may put a fresh insole in them just for some more arch support, but these were very comfortable and light. I really wasn't expecting the shoes to feel that good after such a short time in them, so I'd definitely say that I'd recommend getting a pair and trying them out.
I wear a size 15 and normally ware either Keen or Merrell everyday . This was only the second pair of Columbia Hiking boot that I purchased. By far the worst pair I have ever purchased. Virtually no padding at the bottom so I added insoles. Seams inside the boot rub thru your socks and my feet are sore after wearing all day. I will continue to wear but not for hiking just for short periods. If anything I should have order a wider size to minimize the rubbing
I bought these boots 18 months ago. A comfortable boot for hiking. Only issue I had is the laces didn’t last 4 months. Contacted the manufacturer customer service to obtain (purchase) new laces and they advised they only come with the boots. Had to buy a pair of laces from another manufacturer. Other issue is within 6 months a hole wore in the right boot where you bend your toes.
I insisted with these boots on some trails, but the results were always totally unsatisfying. It makes me feel unsafe and insecure during the whole trail, even on the sidewalk they are slippery. It can be even risky at some parts, so that I had to test only on easy trails. They slip on dry earth, wet earth, dry stone, wet stone... in sum, everywhere. They're definitely not boots for hiking. I feel so disappointed that would never buy from this brand ever again. I don't even know what to do now, because I spent my money in a product that is a total waste. Maybe I could use it only to go to Church on Sundays.

The sole did not separate. The laces did not break. The eyelets and hooks did not pull out. The stitching did not break. The waterproofing did not fail.The cushioning in the sole has broken down. The mesh has several holes/failures. The heel loops broke after the first few weeks. This was frustrating as the loops are important and should not be considered "just for looks". The arch / sole bridge area has failed. I would say all of these, with the exception of the heel loop, is normal and expected as I am sure I put more than the max expected life of 500 miles worth of ... MoreBought these last May 2020. The inserts I used are in the $40 - $50 range. I do not think the insert influences the quality or lifespan of the shoe. I never expect the shoe to conform to my flat feet needs and always expect to need to supplement.
