I purchased this shirt for my young adult son - something bright and merry for the holiday season. He's 6'1" tall and weighs over 200 pounds, so he tends to get warm quickly. This is a nice weight shirt - not summer but also not heavy - that will work nicely for him. It has tab sleeves which is great. The fabric is soft to the touch and I anticipate it will be very comfortable for him at large holiday family gatherings.

I docked the shirts a star for only one reason, that being length (too short) at the sides. I bought both medium and small sizes after reading the reviews about how they are sized large. (Believe and read the reviews! …in terms of chest size.) The “blowsiness” is only mildly an issue, one that is easy for me to overlook. However, when I raise my arms with either size, it exposes the skin at my waist, right and left sides, which is annoying. In every other aspect, the shirts are perfect. I got them to wear at an archaeological field school. They are light weight, cool, breathable sunblocks, and when treated with permethrin, also keep the mosquitoes and other itchy bitey kritters away. I highly recommend them for long hours in the sun.

I love these shirts for the sun protection while also looking reasonably presentable. I mostly use them for hiking and biking in the warmer months. Last summer, I also biked across Iowa during a heat wave and wore this shirt every day, and found it to be comfortable even in 95-100F temperatures with Iowa humidity. The fit is loose for airflow and the fabric breathes pretty well, especially compared to other similar shirts I've owned from different companies.My complaint is how large these run. I know the fit is intended to be loose, but I normally wear size medium in nearly all clothing and the size small in this shirt feels like a large or extra large on me. I later purchased an extra small, and that actually fits correctly. I live in Miami. Bought several of these shirts both long and short sleeve thinking they would keep me somewhat dry and protected from the sun.These shirts are the equivalent of wearing a plastic bag. They are not breathable at all nor do they wick any sweat/moisture away from your skin. I wore a long sleeve super bahama one day while at Disney. Less than an hour into my day had to stop and buy a t-shirt. I looked as if I had fallen into a pool and just walked out of it. The shirt was drenched and stuck to my skin. These shirts do not breathe nor do they ventilate at all despite the vents in the rear. Avoid these shirts at all costs and buy some other product.Working on a claim to see if I get my money back or at a minimum a credit to purchase other Columbia products.
My first purchase of this shirt. My wife has had one for years and loves it, particularly when outside in the sun. We both love being outside in the sun, or on the water, if not in it. With this shirt, the sun wont wear me down as much. When I am not in the water, I will have this shirt on. It is light, breathable and easy to pack! I am so psyched!I did get an XL, which I usually get in most shirts, but that was too big. It was like being in a tent. The large fit me fine.
I was looking for something light weight with moisture wicking and quick dry ability! This is a perfect product in that regard! The unexpected plus is how many compliments I received from friends and students about how nice and cool it looked! I liked it so much I've purchased 6 different colors. Highly recommend!
In Costa Rica in January 2023, we noted that all the guides and many of the Costa Ricans were wearing Columbia PFG Tamiami shirts. I purchased one shirt on sale and found that I didn't really care to wear any of my other shirts. Early this summer I purchased three more colors of the same shirt and only wore them this whole summer. As the shirts went on sale this fall, I purchased three more. Just keep the various colors coming and I'll keep buying the shirts. The shirts are light weight and perfect for hot Phoenix summers. When we visited northern climates, I wore an undershirt under the PFG Tamiami shirts and was most comfortable. MEB
I have two shirts for our solar-intense Arizona days in the field. One is this, the other is made by a competitor. I like both a great deal. The Columbia shirt is lighter but seems no less robust in materials. It has a great assortment of pockets that come in handy as I juggle sunglasses, smartphone and equipment in fairly rough terrain. I regard the shirt as an excellent value as well.
