Bought this for an upcoming trip which involved lots of outdoor activities and this hat proved very useful in all our adventures. Worn it strolling on beach, while bicycling, wandering around new towns. I've also been wearing it for doing gardening which just works very well. Sun coverage is really good and the straps and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to any outdoor enthusiasts!

After researching vented hiking sun hats online I decided to order the Columbia Bora Bora II Booney Hat. First, I love columbia apparel especially the footwear. Unfortunately, this hat did not stand up to the quality products that I have come to expect from Columbia. First, the hat itself is made from a nice material and was true to fit. The poor quality aspect has to do with the non-durability in the brim of the hat. The brim is not firm but prone to being crinkled and bent out of shape. This hat arrived in a plastic bag and was bent out of shape. There are better hats out there. I sent this back for a refund and still had to pay a $6 shipping fee.

This hat is functional, durable enough and well vented. The hat I received is slightly different from the one pictured in that the venting runs continuously around the sides and back with solid fabric in the front. I find this preferable although the hat pictured would have been acceptable. This hat would work well in moderate rain for medium durations but I wouldn't consider it a rain hat. I bought mine for use as a sun-hat in warm dry climates. Size O/S (one size fits all?) should work for most people. I wear about 7 3/8 and the hat will easily fit quite a bit larger and smaller heads. Adjustment is quick and easy. I buy clothing in this sort of fabric for lightweight travel when I'll be carrying a lot, or traveling on airlines which have more restrictive luggage ... Love this hat. So I am not a big hat person...but let's be honest...the sun is hot and we all need all the protection we can get anymore. So many of these type of hats have a brim that is way to large for some of us. I mean...I like to be able to see! This brim is perfect. It shades your face perfectly and keeps the sun off the back of your neck. The fabric is so cool and not at all hot. It helps having the mesh at the middle of the hat to keep your head from getting too warm. Lightweight, comfortable and protected my bald head from the sun during long days fishing. The lanyard was also helpful when the wind picked up. The mesh ventilation was great at keeping my head cool even though it was covered. Anything Columbia I've used over the years has been the real deal and this hat is no exception.
Lightweight material with water repellent. Especially like the mesh on the top part, allow air to circulate, making it a perfect hat for hot days. There is an adjustment cord around the rim which can be tightened to fit different head sizes. Rim is soft and foldable for easy storage in bags. The chin strap would help hold the had in windy days.
These were the perfect sun protection for a Palo Duro Canyon State Park trip that my girlfriend and I recently took to hike The Lighthouse Trail.The 3" brim provides perfect full 360° coverage sun protection to your head, neck, and face. Having a large head, it's nice that these run large to avoid headaches from it fitting too tight and the rear cinch/stopper for proper fitment adjustments is a nice feature. The sweatband work great to avoid sweat stains. For cleaning, I place the hat in a laundry bag, wash on delicate, and then allow it to air dry out of the laundry bag.A great sun protection hat! 🏜I
I'm really surprised that this is hat is very highly reviewed.The first time I wore this hat ever, it didn't hold well at all and got lump and started to block my view and was very uncomfortable in that sense. it blocked the sun only in my neck but didn't help sun getting in my eye. While wearing it the next day in a humid hike it got even worse and after it rained it completely lost its form and never got better. it was useless.yes it's breathable, light weight and feels okay/comfortable over your head, but none of these is a plus unless it's doing its job as a hat, like blocking the sun (for some others even rain, but definitely not this one) while you're comfortable in it and have clear vision.please no offense... it's not as bad, but for me it's very ...
