I need a winter jacket/coat (don’t have one currently), and spotted this one on the website, in-stock at my local store so I went in to try it on. Wound up not having my size (small) in stock after all, but a couple days later my mom surprised me with it at home, granted in the wrong size lol (a medium). I still tried it out around the house, immediately noticed the zipper was cheap plastic and difficult to zip/unzip - I hadn’t read the reviews yet. I was also surprised at just how BIG the medium was - it hit my knees and I’m 5’9”-5’10” (tall and thin, an awkward size to try to fit honestly). I was also able to layer FIVE heavy sweatshirts underneath it comfortably - too much extra room to ever retain body heat/be warm without layers, but I could tell it’d be much ... I was also able to layer FIVE heavy sweatshirts underneath it comfortably - too much extra room to ever retain body heat/be warm without layers, but I could tell it’d be much warmer - more-so than you’d expect given how lightweight and thin the insulation is - in the right size. Returned the M, went back a few days later and I was excited to find a S. It fit perfectly - the arms were actually long enough for me, it wasn’t tight at all through the shoulders when I moved my arms around, the bottom hem hit right where it should, and it was toasty warm. There was enough room for an extra layer or two underneath, but still fitted enough to be flattering. I thought I’d found the perfect coat and I was about to buy it when I remembered to see if the zipper had the same issues (I still hadn’t read the reviews). That was the first thing that killed my enthusiasm - it had the exact same issue as the M I’d returned, except worse. I could barely get it zipped, and after I did, I almost couldn’t get it unzipped. I was literally about to just pull it down and step out of it when it finally unzipped. (It dawned on me then that every single jacket on the racks in this style was hanging unzipped, whereas all the other styles & brands were neatly zipped up. I’m guessing other customers tried them on as well and experienced the same issue bc all of them were scattered around and weren’t neatly hung at all - more like tossed back on the hangers/rack out of frustration). I was still mulling it over though, thinking for the price it may not be that big of a deal especially since I live in TX and really just need it for casual use and walking the dog multiple times per day & night for the 2-3 months of 30-50 degree weather that we have. The longer I kept it on, though, the more I realized it wasn’t even worth the discounted price. Maybe it was just the color (the light grey) but it looked kind of cheap (and I don’t mean that in an uppity way). And it wasn’t LOUD crinkly, but it did have a bit too much of that “noisy” effect whenever I moved - more than normal for this type of jacket. And THEN i realized that if I ever put it on over a short-sleeved shirt, the silver reflective “OmniHeat” dots would stick to my arms uncomfortably with very little breathability. (The thumbhole cuffs are awesome though, regardless of whether you use the thumbholes. The material is super soft and warm and doesn’t cut in to your skin or anything. They’re also long enough to actually help keep your hands warm, and/or push them back in warmer weather). So I sadly left it there with the rest. Came home and read reviews to make sure I wasn’t being overly picky and found a lot of others with the same complaints. Found another Columbia jacket online that I really liked (hooded copper crest), but unfortunately reviews were similar, if not worse (arm holes too small/tight, not enough room in the shoulders to even raise arms, etc). This used to be a great, reliable brand especially for the price point - I has a really cute brown plaid lightweight insulated/puffer Columbia jacket for *years* which is why I decided to look for another one made by them. Now I’m kicking myself for losing it during my last move because apparently its just not the same quality anymore.

I bought this because I thought it was going to be good quality and I got a good deal for Black Friday I read some negative reviews and chose to ignore. DO NOT get this coat. I got it and wore it a few times and not even ONE month in a piece of the bottom zipper that latches to the zipper broke off. Now the zipper doesn’t work and I literally wore it one month. I sent it in with a warranty claim which cost me $50 in shipping. They sent it back saying they couldn’t fix it and nothing was wrong. It was such a waste of money and almost two years later I have this terrible coat with a broken zipper. I would just stay away from Columbia altogether. I got this thinking I was getting a really nice quality coat. Customer service didn’t care either.

Gorgeous coat with a perfect fit. Love the stretchy inner cuffs with thumb holes so i can tuck into gloves. Love the warmth of the heat-reflective lining.Great hood fit and look. My only criticism is that the side pockets are child-sized, I cant use them to keep warm if ive forgotten gloves because my whole hand doesn't fit. Theyre not deep enough to put a normal sized cell phone in and still zip shut. Even my keys tumble out in the car if I leave the pocket unzipped. Women's clothing always gets shortchanged in the pocket department. Please improve this in future designs.

I bought this jacket to replace a Reebok one that I melted when I had a recent surgery. I was so cold when I came home I sat too close to the fireplace and when it melted I was still a little medically stoned so I started crying hysterically. My mom promised to replace if I would calm down. I love Marionberry type colors anyway, but I have a pair of Sorel snow boots and this matches perfectly. I have many Columbia fleeces and another short jacket. People's comments about the zipper have made me conscious about making sure unzip from the bottom when I get into a vehicle. But otherwise it has been a warm, stylish and beautiful coat especially for a plus size. I usually wear a 2X but per the reviews I got a 3X and I'm glad I did because when it's time to breakout this ... This is a perfect coat for drizzly/damp cold Pacific Northwest winters. Lovely color (grey-blue). This is my second purchase of exactly the same coat in Medium, but I find it tighter than my previous one, especially in the shoulders and hips. Fabric is stiffer and seems not as good the old coat. I still wear the old one, so I know I've not gained inches. In fact I've lost. I am 5"6", 134 lbs, 34-34-39). I would have preferred to exchange this new coat for a Large, but your exchange policy is too complicated for someone who lives on a rural island and has to depend on the post office. I won't be ordering on-line again.
This is by far the most versatile jacket I have ever owned. I live in the midwest and can wear this jacket in all but the most brutal temps. The omni heat lining is legit-- once you start moving you really heat up. The hood is very functional, just the right size. With a scarf tucked in and the hood up and the jacket zipped all the way, I can comfortably wear this in 30 degree weather, maybe even high 20s. I find that I use the hand warmers all the time, too. The jacket holds up well in the washer and dryer, looks the same as when I bought it. I would recommend NOT sizing up because this jacket has such a nice shape. For that matter, don't wear bulky sweaters! Get yourself some good fleece for extra warmth! Bulky is never a good look. When it's super cold out, get ... This is my second Omni Winter coat. I purchased the first one about 10 years ago if memory serves me right! I absolutely love it. It has some great improvement. The.hood is now lined with nice sherpa material. It is great because when wind flows it wont just flipped back and your hair is alll wet from rain or snow. It runs a little small. I am a.medium but like to have my winter coat to be large. But i find the large fit me perfectly...may be just a little too perfect around the arms area. Nonetheless, I love Omni heat. You can wear a t shirt under this and you still feel quite warm.
Showed up smelling my entire room of cigarette smell!!! If I could rate it a zero, I would. The package showed up and I was shocked to realize why my room was smelling so bad and when I opened the package it was as if the person packing the coat up just blew smoke in and sealed it up. I washed it, only because it’s snowing in my town and I am from the desert and needed a coat asap. After the coat was washed twice, I wore it out. Water, makeup, skin oils, the air…. Everything marks up this coat. I have had it less than a week and I am pretty sure I wasted money on this coat. I can’t return it and it looks 2 years old. This jacket is not worth the cost.
The jacket is warm but lightweight due to the insulated lining - I think many of the reviews predicting that it won't be good for much below 32F are not taking that into account. I have worn it into the 20s, before we plunged into a deep freeze that calls for my calf-length bulkier coat. This one will be just fine for 20s-40s as far as I'm concerned. My ideal size seems to be somewhere between M & L; I bought L online in this color and it's a bit big on me, but I tried M at a local store that only had it in black and that would have been too small to fit over a thick sweater comfortably, so I'm keeping the L.The zipper tends to rub on your chin if you zip it all the way up, unless you also put the hood up, but there is nothing to secure the hood in the wind so I ... I generally put my thumbs through just to pull the sleeves all the way down, them slip them out again before putting on gloves.Overall I like this for its looks, quality/warmth, and length.
I have 2 of these coats… love that they are thinner, so proof and warm. However both coats zippers are a struggle. From day 1 one of them stuck in a few places and now it won’t go up or down and is unwearable. The 2nd coats zipper is very difficult to get started as it doesn’t want to fully drop into its slot to pull up. Have to firmly press it in. Zippers shouldn’t be so difficult!! What a pain to send the coats back in hopes they seem them fixable when they were sold this bad. Quality needs to be improved greatly as well as the customer service people. When I called them to ask for help, the guy was short and nearly rude about it. Either stand by their product or don’t.
