Awesome jacket

I was hesitant to buy this jacket at first as most reviews said it runs small. And I didn’t want to have deal with returning it. Fortunately, in my case, I actually found it to be true to size. For reference: normally I wear XS-S in jackets and I found that the S fit perfectly. Initially I was going to purchase a M, but now that I have tried on a S, I know for sure the M would have been way too large in the mid section and arms. I don’t normally layer with heavy clothing, usually just a thin undershirt. Although I could see where you may need to size up if planning to wear with a thick sweater. It’s very flattering, form fitting, with room to move around. I’m 5’4”, 120 lbs., athletic/slim frame. Love the length. It hits me about mid thigh. The dark stone color is lovely. A nice change from all the dark colored jackets I own. Have received many compliments. Planning to buy another.

I just purchased this jacket a week ago for a trip next year to Alaska. I did size up from my normal size which is usually a small to an extra small so I purchased a medium. I weigh 94 pounds and 5 foot five. I have plenty of room to add layers, and it still looks nice and fitting. I was a little confused about what I thought were pockets inside this jacket. They are not pockets inside the jacket they go completely through, but if you put your hand in the zipper part on the front of the jacket, it drops into that pouch like it supposed to. I have decided to hand sew the bottom so that I can have two inside pockets. It should not alter anything on this jacket. I bought the powder blue which is gorgeous and I’m glad that I did. I cannot give you any other reviews as how warm it is because I live in Arizona too hot for right now. I will have to wait until after next year in April. The jacket I bought was on sale at a good price and I have to say that I would definitely recommend it. Just remember to size up .

I really wanted to love this jacket. It’s small and lightweight (great for travel) and very warm! I wouldn’t wear in freezing weather but it’s perfect for running errands on a chilly day. Unfortunately it runs VERY small. I ordered a medium I am 5’2 and 130lbs and this jacket was so tight around my chest and booty, every time I moved I had to pull it down due to it riding up. I was going to exchange it for a larger size because I really liked the look and overall fit but they are out of stock. Maybe I’ll try again next season if it goes on sale. But for a $200 jacket I wouldn’t buy it again.

Great value on a beautiful coat
7 February 2024

I am 5’11” 165 lbs and normally a size medium in Columbia but large in other outerwear brands. I sized up one size according to reviews and bought a large, and it is a perfect fit. I have 2 similar Columbia long coats like this that are a medium, and the large fits the same as my other two mediums. Other than the sizing, I love the warm inner reflective layer and the weight of the jacket is perfect for winter in the Pacific Northwest. I bought the beetroot and olive colors, and they are beautiful in person. I also like the pattern of the insulation stitching on this coat—it looks really cool.

Learn from my mistake
25 March 2023

Believe what the others have said—this coat is cut much smaller/narrower than it should be. I wear a medium in everything— including my Columbia jacket. I saw the other reviews but thought “maybe it’s just a few weird experiences” since not every review was consistent about the sizing issues so I ordered a medium and hoped for the best. Turns out the best was being able repackage the coat in the same packaging it came in! I tried the coat on and it was so small I couldn’t even get the zipper to touch, much less try to zip it. I understand that there could be some variation in styles from the same brand but this was ridiculous! The sleeves were the perfect length so I knew a large would too long in the arms so I am out $6 for the cost of returning the coat but have ... MoreBelieve what the others have said—this coat is cut much smaller/narrower than it should be. Make Sure to Size Waayy Up...or Expect to Pay More
9 January 2024

Runs extremely small. Purchased XL for my wife, who normally wears a M-L. Even the XL was too small. Had to pay $6.00 to return the XL and repurchase a new size (since Columbia does not do exchanges). Told the agent to order a 2XL, but they ordered a Plus Size 2X. When it came in, as expected, the plus size 2X was way too big. Once again, I had to return and reorder due to Columbia's terrible inability to do exchanges. This meant I still had the original charge on my card from the XL, the charge on my card for the incorrect reorder, and now I had to reorder again. While I will eventually get the refunds for the XL and the 2X, the lack of a true exchange process is archaic. All of this, plus for the final reorder, they refused to match the price I was charged for the ... MoreRuns extremely small. Purchased XL for my wife, who normally wears a M-L. If it wasn't for the fact that my wife liked the feel of this jacket (just not the size), I would just return and never reorder. This will; however, be the last time I order anything from Columbia, unless they can fix their return/exchange process.

Poor fit, surprise charge on making returns
28 February 2024

The fit is weird. Arms feel tight, bust area is roomy and the hips feel tight again. I'm an avg sized middle age gal, 5'4" 140lbs. Sadly will have to return. Also be aware, there's a $6 deduction from the balance you'll receive on your return. It's not on the main returns page. You have to actually click on the teeny tiny FAQ link where it says that. You would think something as important as that would be mentioned in the "Returns" section, nope! and oddly, it says FAQ on top of that page. Weird, so weird. Glad I know, buyer be aware. Also just had the strangest interaction with customer service.

Runs Very Small
9 January 2024

If you are between sizes, do not consider choosing the larger size a true "sizing up" with this item. I am 5'4" and wear a 32B bra. I wear size 4, occasionally a 6. I ordered a medium in this coat after reading all of the reviews prior to buying this jacket last year. My order arrived arrived on April 5,2023, and because I was busy packing for a warmer weather destination,I hung it in the closet with the tags on - until my first real cold weather day today, early January 2024. Big mistake for me because when I put it on over very thin and very snug yoga clothes this morning, I could barely get it zipped. I also felt like I could not move. There was absolutely no room for me to wear anything the least bit thicker. This coat is useless to me. I actually want to give this purchase a one star, but I will try to be fair: I think the coat probably provides okay warmth and wind blocking protection if you get it big enough and can wear warm clothes underneath. Maybe some colors were made in different factories, otherwise I don't know how this could be true to size for someone. This coat is money down the drain for me.

Runs very very small.
22 March 2024

It looks like a very nice fitted jacket. I purchased a large due to the reviews on sizing, which was 2 sizes too big so I figured a small one would fit. I have another similar Columbia jacket in a different color in size small that fits me perfectly. I decided to order both small and a medium just to save the time in returning and reordering, figuring one would fit. Well, I couldn’t even zip up the small and the medium is very snug, too snug to fit anything besides a tight top underneath. So neither size is suitable for me. Very disappointed.

Size Up!
7 February 2023

I agree about sizing up, as others have recommended, though for me going up by just one size was enough. For context, I’m 5’3, 108lbs, and a DD. Going up to a small gives me enough room for a sweater underneath, since I always need a sweater at work. Interestingly, a XS in the Slope Edge was far too big. I just wish it came in a petite! I was looking for a coat that went to my thighs for days when a shorter jacket isn’t enough, but lightweight, since I have an excellent longer winter coat for days in the 20s and below, with a hood, since in a city you never know when the weather is going to change while you’re out and about, and that had some style to it that was at least somewhat flattering on. A few additional notes: it’s warm enough for days when the windchill is in the low 30s or maybe upper 20s, but if you’re looking for a truly warm coat, this isn’t it. I also wish that Columbia provided more information on specifications on the website and indicated whether there was anything sustainable about the coat (recycled polyester, anyone?). But overall I’m happy with my purchase and with Columbia’s customer service!
