Exactly what I wanted

I was specifically looking for winter coat that is not quilted. Reviews were mixed on the warmth of this coat, but I had the chance to wear it in sub 0 temps with strong wind the first day I got it, and it kept me comfortable while walking the dog. I did wear a technical fleece and beanie under because layering up is key in cold temps. Reviews mentioned oddly place pockets, but they don’t bother me - I’m not standing with my hands in them; in fact I like that the pockets are big enough to hold my phone or keys. I appreciate the 2-way zipper for sitting in the car. Finally the coat is roomy enough to be comfortable with a layer, even a sweater underneath. For reference, I am 5’4” 115# and got the small.

Great Color - warmth not so much

I bought this Coat to replace my 10+ year coat . I got the Marionberry color and it is very pretty. The sleeves are a bit longer on the small so I have to fold them up - since it’s not offered in Petite size. Also the armholes are a bit tight - all one can wear under is a thin layer of shirt or light sweater. For me I needed a coat that I could wear in very cold weather as I have to walk my dog winter. I bought another coat that has real down in it as a minus degree cold weather coat . This I use when it is above 30 degrees. Also don’t like the weird patch pockets in the front. They really need to add an inner pocket. The front pocket looks weirdly lumpy if you put gloves etc in them.

Great coat

I tried on a number of coats from different brands. I have slightly broader shoulders than "average" and so most coats that fit my torso well tend to be too tight in the shoulders. This was the case in most coats, including a few other Columbia coats that I tried. This one seems to run a bit wider in the shoulders than the others. I'm 5'8" and about 165lb and ordered a Large. Even though I'm 5'8", the coat hem is right at my knees, longer than on the models. The two-way zipper can be a little fussy but I'm getting used to it. I'm sensitive to collars and I often feel like they're choking me, but the collar height is perfect and the width is comfortable even when fully zipped. I like that the hood has a cord to cinch it closer to your face, but I agree with other reviewers that she fleece lining was a bad choice because of how it sticks to your hair. I live in southern Ohio and I think it will be plenty warm for very cold winter walks as long as I have a sweater underneath. If I lived somewhere colder, I would probably opt for something with warmer insulation. All in all, I'm happy with this coat and the price I paid for it (while it was on sale) and I hope it lasts a long time.

Great color but quality could use some work
12 January 2024

I got this jacket in red lily. The color is beautiful and the fit is great. I’m 5’7 3/4 and I wear size xs. There is definitely room for layering underneath and the jacket hits me mid thigh. Unfortunately, the quality just isn’t there for me. I find the jacket to not be has warm as some of my older coats and the fur trimming on the hood is somewhat cheap. The removable portion of the hood does not stay on after buttoning and if you wear it flapped over the hood looks ridiculous. I would not describe this one has a heavy duty snow coat, it’s really not. I’m keeping this one as a lightweight snow coat, but I would not go out in extreme weather with it.

Hate the clammy plastic lining and straight fit.

Omni heat wraps you in a plastic mylar trash bag , arms and all! I have used insulated ski stuff, but those did not make me feel like a potato in a plastic bag. Also, the fit is weird for a jacket I expected to use while working outside. It is very long and skinny. (I am a very thin person, so I am not the problem), and I can not comfortably move my arms and legs inside this plastic potato bag. Also, fur trim is super cheap, not a plus. I have only used zipper once, I leave this open due to potato bag effect, unless wind is hideously cold. But zipper is cheapo, and hard to zip. Hood is very uncomfortable. Glad I kept my ratty thirty year old similar jacket. This one goes to Goodwill, I will wash and repair that one. What happened to Columbia comfort and value?? Just Perfect

A little background: I'm a Bay Area girl who hasn't experienced "real" winter in a long time, and I needed a jacket for a trip in a very cold climate. I really wasn't sure what to look for. I wanted something warm, of course, but also nice enough to wear around a fairly stylish city. It's always a bit of a gamble buying clothes online because you never know until you put them on, so I really had my fingers crossed for this one. When I tell you it was perfect! So, so warm, but not overly bulky or "outdoorsy." It was nice for the clear, cold days, moments of light sprinkling, and even for an unexpected evening of snow! Whether I wore it with a light turtleneck or a thin long sleeved tee, it kept me warm. Just perfect. I'm very happy with this purchase and would gladly ... MoreA little background: I'm a Bay Area girl who hasn't experienced "real" winter in a long time, and I needed a jacket for a trip in a very cold climate. Not for stocky, apple-shaped, or broad shouldered women

Went to my local Scheels and saw this jacket marked down over 50%. Tried it on briefly, salesperson told me it's a great value and I can always return it if it didn't work out. So off I went. After wearing it for just one day the jacket is driving me crazy. I am 5'0, 135 lbs, stocky physique with big shoulders and no waist. I bought an L. It's pinching at the shoulders, on the upper arms, and in the stomach. I can't size up to an XL or it'll be down to my ankles. Ridiculous. I also made sure the fur strip was detachable before I bought it because I'm just not the fur hood type, but then guess what the hood flops off in the wind. There's no way to tighten it. This coat's going back. Won't be buying Columbia again until they do some research on real women's body ... MoreWent to my local Scheels and saw this jacket marked down over 50%. Didn't have it long enough to experience any quality issues and it seemed warm enough, though the hood not staying on wasn't ideal.

Perfect Plus Size Warm, Cute Winter Workhorse
16 November 2023

I bought this coat in 2021 and have worn it through Chicago winters. It was my “Oh I actually need a real winter coat” recognition coupled with “and I’m so tired of being strangled by puffer coats” that brought me here. The plus size arms are long enough, wide enough and have helpful Velcro . The pockets! Perfection. Big enough to hold a hat and gloves if I get warm mid walk or to store my keys securely without worrying every time I bend over to pick up the dog poo that things will fall out. The hood is sturdy and has room for a hat - and an easy adjusting cord. And the length is properly protective - I’m good in leggings with this coverage. I may order a second one just for variety! Buy this coat especially on sale - best coat purchase I’ve made in years!

Perfect coat for cold midwest winters
17 December 2023

Winters in the Midwest can be BRUTAL. I’m a preschool teacher, meaning I am required to take my kiddos outside twice a day under state guidelines. I finally realized that even though they’re cute, wearing just a normal puffer was not gonna cut it. I needed something heavier, longer and with a hood that actually helped keep me warm. I’m a leggings girl so my legs would be freezing standing out on the playground. A long length coat is new to me but I LOVE that I can wear what I want to wear during the day and still be warm when it’s time to go outside. I read reviews on quite a few Columbia coats and decided to give this one a try, which I’m so glad I did. It came super fast and has been just what I needed/was looking for. Pair with gloves and you’re set.

Warm enough, but had some flaws.
5 January 2024

Purchased for a trip to Colorado. This coat served it's purpose, but I have a few major issues with it. Number one most annoying is the neckline. If it was zipped all the way up, the zipper was scratching my face. I had to wear a gaiter to protect my chin, or zip it down about 8 inches. Number two, only two flat pockets that barely held my gloves since. Number three, the hood was weird and flappy. It was water resistant, cute, and kept me warm, and was a good price. But, if I lived in a cold climate and needed a daily, heavy coat, this would probably not be my choice. Also, I am 5'5, about 160. I was okay with the MED because I did not need a thick underlayer, but it was a bit snug in the hips. Thankfully, not snug at all in the arms which is the area I feel like I ... MorePurchased for a trip to Colorado. This coat served it's purpose, but I have a few major issues with it.
