I uses the picture hanging strips to hang small shelves in my bedroom. To make sure the shelves stay up, I used six large strips each. It has been two years and the shelves are still secured to the wall. I didnβt want to use the hardware to install the shelves because I knew I would have to sell the apartment eventually (divorce). The picture hanging strips were the perfect temporary solution. Bonus, I didnβt need a level because these strips are adjustable. You can just keep trying until the pictures (or shelves) are perfectly straight. I do not recommend putting anything too heavy if you use these strips for shelves. The package has the weight limit printed on it.

I wanted to hang some pictures on a wall that I did not want to put holes in. When I have used Pressure Sensitive Adhesives in the past, I have taken off pieces of painted wall. I have used the Command(tm) products in the past for small items and had decent luck. I saw this product for larger pictures, adn thought I would try it. Worked Great! I had a huge world map picture puzzle to hang (heavy and large) and applying the strips and hanging were simple. And it is still hanging with no problems. I will certainly use this product again for pictures where I would normally used nails to hang them. Very Pleased.

this is a great product on items like reproduction metal signs as long as they are not too heavy. I also have used them on light picture frames with plastic covering in a outside wall where I cannot get a picture hook nail in that wall. think you need to know is DO NOT USE ON IMPORTANT ITEMS, OR HEAVY OR THINGS WITH GLASS IN THE FRAME. This item holds well but can fail mostly in extreme temps. Having said that I have over 50 items using this product and only 8 have fallen of the wall and 2 of them were due to my wheelchair. They are damage free mostly about 99% of the time but one when i moved it the plaster came away.
After 5 years I decided to finally hang four works of original art on the wall of my piano room. I had no idea where to begin. I asked the lady behind the counter for help. She was able to solve the problem so easily and should be rewarded for this which is what I am now doing. The wall is beautiful but....I found one more work of art I had missed. When I returned to the store she was there and found this great frame for the final piece. It is now hanging on the wall and everything is wonderful. Thank you so much for your help! John
I attached a handful of very light picture frames from Ikea on my wall using your command strips about a year ago. I believe 4 strips are supposed to hold 16 pounds total. My frame is 3 pounds so I used 2 strips thinking that would more than suffice. In recent days I had 2 frames fall off the wall and one of them actually broke. They are light but still have sharper corners so luckily none of my kids was under them at the time. All of these strip products seem like "easy" and clean solutions but the products do not perform. I've had other small strips with hooks etc simply fall off the wall as well. Great ideas terrible execution.
All in all I'd call it a pretty good idea albeit a bit pricey and a bit more cumbersome to work with than most standard picture hangers. First of all you must understand that it takes 1 set of 2 strips to equal one hanger. Since most of the pictures I was hanging were framed, the pack of the framed picture is generally not completely flat (there is usually a recess) so In most cases you need to use your hangers on the border (perimeter) of the frame since that is the only place you can stick the hanger. Therefore, even for the lightest things, you will need to use 2 pairs of hangers (4 strips in total) and if you are dealing with somewhat heavier items, you will need to use additional pairs,The other issue I found was that the directions tell you to mount the ...Β MoreAll in all I'd call it a pretty good idea albeit a bit pricey and a bit more cumbersome to work with than most standard picture hangers. Since most of the pictures I was hanging were framed, the pack of the framed picture is generally not completely flat (there is usually a recess) so In most cases you need to use your hangers on the border (perimeter) of the frame since that is the only place you can stick the hanger. Therefore, even for the lightest things, you will need to use 2 pairs of hangers (4 strips in total) and if you are dealing with somewhat heavier items, you will need to use additional pairs,The other issue I found was that the directions tell you to mount the hangers on the back of the frame (sticky side of one strip against the frame, then stick the two Velcro sides together which leaves the sticky side of the second strip exposed so that it can be stuck to the wall. You need to do that for each side (i.e. right or left side) of the rear of the frame, Then you simply stick the picture onto the wall, making sure it is the correct height and that it is level. That may be easier said than done but if you mark the walls lightly in pencil, it will help. In my case I also held a level against the side of the frame while sticking against the way in order to be as accurate as possible.Next the directions tell you to press the picture against the wall, putting pressure where the hangers are located so it will be stuck firmly to the wall. So far so good. But next, you are instructed to lift the picture from the bottom, pulling up, so that the Velcro on each hanger will separate and you can remove the picture, leaving one half of each hanger on the wall. Next you need to apply pressure on each of the pieces still attached to the wall and leave the picture "unhung" for 24 hours so that the hanger can properly adhere. Easier said then done. Each time I tried this, the entire hanger came off the wall. Ultimately, after several tries, I had to give up and allow the picture to remain hung right from the start. Fortunately I was dealing with lighter things, mostly under eight pounds, so I was successful and satisfied. The last project I had planned to attempt was to hang a rather large and heavier 24 x 36 picture.I chickened out and went back to standard, heavy duty, metal nail mounted hangers as I didn't have confidence this would work. You may have better success than I but I wanted to give you a complete picture of the process and the caveats.
From time to time we all have slightly heavy photos that we want to hang. As is common with 3M Command users, we don't want to damage our walls when hanging these items. With some of the 3M Command products we have a recommended limitation on weight which discourages us from using this method of damage-free hanging. The Command 20 lb Picture Hanging Strips help with that issue. They are rated to hold up to 20 lbs and have the expected ease of use and damage-free functionality of other Command products.I particularly like how the instructions for use are simple and each to follow. In addition these strips provide me with the security that makes me feel comfortable using them to hang my heavier photos. As with the other Command products these strips provide ...Β MoreFrom time to time we all have slightly heavy photos that we want to hang. I have been using these products for family picture frames for about 4 months. They are beginning to fail at about 2 to 3 months. The larger frames have been the first to fail, and break on the floor on impact. None of these frames are over 1 pound...using multiple strips rated for 2.5 pounds or heavier (whatever in store). The smaller 4x6 frames remain attached.I have identified two failure points. First, the strips coming off the walls. Not an issue for smallest frames, yet. Standard latex walls cleaned before application. Second, detachment from the frames itself, the adhesive side on the frame.I have even used gorilla glue two-sided heavy duty tape on the frame, and then the Command strip on that tape. That just failed too after 2 months. It peeled off the ...Β MoreI have been using these products for family picture frames for about 4 months. They are beginning to fail at about 2 to 3 months. I purchased several packages over a period from different stores. Otherwise I would have provided for help on root cause.I had hoped to avoid nails in the walls, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative as this product is showing unreliability. For weightless plastic applications, it works. I have used other command products for years, which have mostly worked. For more practical uses on pricier objects, I would take caution and consider standard hooks.
I bought 3M command products many times. My last application, I used 9 pairs (16 pound, 7.2 kg) to hang an 8 pound speaker. For months it holds firmly. So I repeated this same configuration for the other 8 pound speaker to free up counter space. Within three days, so unexpectedly, the speaker fail and hit the floor without anyone touching or bumping the speaker. How can I expect a 20 pound 3M command product spread over 4 pairs times 2 to hold if 16 pound 4 pair times 2 per speaker causes unexpected hold conditions. When can I expect the 8 pound speaker to fall again?
