My cat has really taken a liking to the rug in my office. She has treated it like a scratching post and caused so many pulls. I finally thought of getting a fabric shaver to try and remedy the situation. Although the inlet holes in the shaver screen are too small for carpet pulls, once I trimmed them with a scissor first they were workable with the fabric shaver. Using the lowest setting I was able to eliminate the pulls altogether and restored my carpet looking like new again. Now it's just too bad I can't shave down my kitties' nails with this shaver.

I learned about this product from one of my favorite influencers, extrapetite. Before I had this product, I picked at pilling to get rid of it. It was a facepalm and come to Jesus moment when I learned fabric shavers exist. It has saved my sweaters. I have one in particular that pills all the time and I whip out this fabric shaver, lay my sweater on a flat surface and go to town. It has three settings for depth and is battery operated. I haven’t had to change out the battery yet and I use it quite often. I recommend this product because it performs the job well and is affordable.

This little fabric shaver was amazing! For whatever reason my color Patagonia fleece was the only one out of our family’s to pill… and boy did it pill. I tried a few solutions in the past, although I never went to hard at it. Finally, I just stopped wearing it. The entire jacket used to look like the left side of it in this picture. This little gadget seriously made it look brand new. I can’t comment on its longevity since we just got it yesterday and have only used it once, but for now I consider it a great buy!

I popped some batteries from a brand new package of batteries in, and the shaver didn't start. Turn the batteries every which way, thinking maybe the indications on the stickers in the battery compartment were wrong. No luck. I wasn't sure if it was the shaver or the batteries, so I popped them in an old Walkman (yes, it was the ONLY AA battery thing I could find in the house) and it turned right on - doubly surprising since it's so dang old. It looks like others have had this issue too, so I'm taking it back to swap it out, and bringing the batteries with me. Otherwise, taking recommendations for fabric shavers that actually work.
sharp enough to cut my sweaters, but not sharp enough to do a good job shaving them. Like going to a barber shop, any tool can cut your face, but only a sharp blade can get you a close shave. The blades on this are incredibly dull. While cleaning the fuzz built-up around the blades, I accidentally ran my thumb down one of the edges. I SHOULD have given myself a decent cut, but no... evidently paper is sharper. Takes over 2 hours per sweater for a job that is only so-so (I'm petite. not talking about massive sweaters here). At first I was thrilled with this product until I checked the work with a flashlight and saw that only the large pills were actually removed and none of the small ones, nor the large amount of fuzz covering the majority of the sweaters. Not removing the fuzz means the sweaters will pill again very quickly. But I just moved to a climate where sweaters are too warm for winter so I'm just cleaning these up for storage: Otherwise I'd return this junker immediately.
I've had a few sweaters and jackets that I really like but haven't been able to wear due to the fabric pilling, resulting in the "bobbles," as my partner called them. I've tried lint rollers, a safety razor, and even just good old "pulling them off one by one." I bought this not expecting too much for $15. But darn it, it works very well. My $200 peacoat looks fantastic. After using the fabric shaver, I gave it a pass with a lint roller to pick up anything extra, and my jacket looks good as new. I did the same for a sweater that I really like but was embarassed to wear due to the amount of pilling caused by me wearing it so much. The sweater wasn't cheap (about $120), and so having it look good as new is great. The sweater wasn't cheap (about $120), and so having it look good as new is great. You can see the before and after in the attached photos. And, you know what? It really is fun. I used the fabric shaver on my jacket and then pulled out two more sweaters that I ran this tool over, and it worked a treat. I started checking all the other pieces of clothing in my closet for anything else that needed a once-over. Sadly, everything else was okay, but I started asking my partner if she needed anything cleaned up. I figure I'm saving my clothing to get a bit wear out of it and also keeping pieces out of the garbage and/or a landfill. For $15, it's a great value. My only criticism is that the collected material doesn't always collect into the reservoir, so I can usually hear the difference in what it is picking up and clean it out. As a tip, some material can get stuck in the body of the shaver and not go down into the reservoir. In this case, take off the reservoir and turn the shaver on over your garbage. The tool should blow out anything stuck.
I was about to throw away my favorite red sweater. I couldn't believe how all of a sudden there were tons of pillings. Based on the reviews I purchased this today, Dec. 24, 2022 at the Menlo Park Target. BRAVO ..this is most definitely a 5 Star Review. PLUS 10 Stars for having the MOST EFFICIENT CURBSIDE PICKUP SINCE COVID STARTED. BRAVO to Target and all its employees. I don't know your secret but I have never waited more than 2 minutes for a person to come to my car, it is usually seconds. How is that possible. Happy Holidays Target Employees.
I used this on a shirt that, because it's got synthetic content, pills. I started using the shaver and wasn't really noticing that it was making a difference, even after going over the same area several times, trying different speeds (of my hand--the device only has one setting, which is fine); after 15 minutes, the same 5 x 5 area didn't look much different, and indeed, there was very little fuzz in the chamber. It seems that in order to do an entire shirt would take multiple changes of battery, with days of rest between to rest one's arms. I'm certain I can find a better shaver out there--perhaps an actual electric shaver, which does pretty much the same thing!
This shaver does a pretty job removing fabric pills from most materials. However, it sometimes leaves behind the smaller pills, even on the lowest setting and even without the guard. You have to go over some areas countless times and even then it doesn’t fully complete the job. Even using the guard, this shaver has snagged on seemingly nothing and ripped small holes into some of my clothes. There doesn’t seem to be a predictability to what fabric will snag because sometimes it will do it on a synthetic fabric, for example, but then the next time I use it on that same item of clothing, there’s no issue whatsoever. The receptacle is also extremely small and it fills up very quickly. It also devours batteries so fast! It is frustrating how little time a fresh pair of batteries lasts in this shaver. I would think that the motor would be stronger if it’s using so much battery power. I haven’t found a better option than this, but I’m hoping that Conair will improve their model and fix these very irritating problems.
This may be an older persons experience, but when some clothes in the closet are older than some of your co-workers . . . clothes pilling really makes those favorite pieces look worn out. Recently found a Tek Gear jacket that I love and wear everywhere. Washed it with some cotton items and it had white pills all over it. Ruined. Then I remembered this clothes shavers and I love the Conair brand. My blowdryer was over 20 years old before it bit the dust. This shaver (used the supplied shield) didn't run the nylon fabric and got rid of every pill on the jacket. It looks brand new.
