I’ll start off by saying I am biased- Congo’s w the protection are the best tires ever. My bike came w some racing knobbies and those were replaced after my 2nd pinch flat. The 2.3 continental jigs are my second set on this bike- they wear well and offer the best traction/weight/protection for the money...

I put a Cross King 2.3" on the front for my first ever XC race. The tire rolls very fast compared to the 2.8" enduro tire I had previously. The grip is surprisingly good for such a nicely rolling tire. The tire held up through the race very well, too. The race included a couple miles of black diamond trails and the tire performed admirably.Setting up tubeless took some effort, but I'm using non-tubeless ready rims. I think it was the fault of the rim, not the tire. I ended up using an insert to get a tight seal on the bead.I would highly recommend this tire for its combination of grip and speed. The value is very good, too.

I was looking for something lighter to replace the trail tyres on my bike without losing the ability to do singletrack if I wanted to. I immediately felt the difference. These weigh in at 620 grams and roll fast compared to more aggressive tyres. Tubeless setup was fairly straightforward and the bead seated itself easily. Unless you're planning on doing any downhill courses, give these a try.

Excellent product I recommend 100%, a very good tire is the black chili. The only thing was about the shipment, it did not arrive on the indicated date, it took 30 days to Chile. But no problem buying, just wait a little longer, now buy about 5000 gp for the road bike
Good grip on gravel, grass, mud. Always used cross king tires and they've never let me down. Very sturdy and with some decent sealant they're very durable.
I just finally got around to mounting this tire 2 days ago. I got one ride in on it, but so far it seems good. No issues mounting it. Only rode 15 miles on hard pack singletrack with leaves, but works well compared to the well-worn Specialized Purgatory I replaced.
The packaging arrived in perfect condition. I bought this tire to put on the rear wheel of my bike and it didn't disappoint. Very good grip on loose sand and good rolling on tar. Provides security on the fast rails.
OK, just received my first Continental Cross King 29/2.2 “Protection” version 4/240 ply/TPI. This is the new version which was tweaked by Continental mid-2018. Changes: protection layer now under tread, slightly larger/wider side knobs and sidewall protection added. Out of the packaging it looks bulletproof. Good, solid looking side knobs for predictable cornering and grip when it’s needed. Sidewall has a less flimsy feel than other XC/AM tyres I’ve had. Old issue of the “King” range being smaller than advertised no longer an issue. Also, problems converting to tubeless sorted thanks to stiffer sidewall. Will add a second review once the tyre has completed a good number of miles both XC and trails.
Years ago, I got the 26" X-King, which is a similar tread, for my 125 pound intermediate wife. She tore those tires up within ten miles or so.I decided to give them another try, in the reincarnated Cross King version, 29x2.3 and they have definitely solved the durability problem!750 grams, 2.28" carcass width at sub 20 psi and knobs slightly wider. If you like the Rocket Ron or the Rekon, you'll like these. They roll fast and hook up well. I've only tried them on the back, but they work well on the mellower XC type trails on the Wasatch Back. I decided I needed a little more traction, so I went to a Mountain King on the back, and wrote a review on those, but if you don't need more rear wheel traction than a Rekon, for example, these are 5 star.BTW, I did not ... Similar to a 29x2.35 Nobby Nic, or Rekon, in fact, but grippier than the Rekon.
Bought as 'summer' tyre to alternate with the superb trail kings I have fitted - front only. Not tested cross kings in anger yet but far better rolling than trails - waiting to see how they perform over wet roots etc the trails nail it
