This is one of the heavy puncture resistant tires (the best for side wall and one of the best performers for tread puncture resistance). It is not build to be fast, as competition tires, requesting 20 watts of effort (vs. 7.5 to 10 watts for race tires) but this is the price for puncture protection. Good for training or for touring, as the puncture repair is same as for tubeless: sealant and stripes. Will deserve you few years with minimum maintenance and peace of mind.

Just installed the second set. Very satisfied with the tubular Gatorskins. They have always provided ultimate protection on my road bike even after riding on rough paved farm roads with lots of 'junk - flat tire creators'. Pot holes, bolts, nuts, wire, rocks, etc. These are tough dependable tires and well worth what they cost. Currently running about 125 lbs of air in them and they just continue to cruise!
Flat once in a race and you go get mad. Flat twice and you go with a different tire, especially when the fix-a-flat stuff doesn't work...both times. When you're riding tubulars, it's either hope the fix-a-flat works or don't flat. Those are your only options. With my history proving that fix-a-flat doesn't work, my local bike shop recommended either these or the Specialized Armadillo. They had these so that's what I went with and have been on ever since. I have these on a Planet X deep dish wheel set and just put this on an Orr Cycling disc that I bought. It had a Zipp Tangente tire on it that just plain would not hold air...off it went and on went the most reliable non-flatting tire I have ever ridden. Very good tubular, I have mounted after rolling with the Tufo s33 pro and the feeling of improvement when rolling is brutal. It is true that to take them to 8 bars with the Tufo, with the Gatorskin you can go to 12 bars. In any case both aesthetically, in the construction of the tubular to remove them from the box as in performance, is a tubular 100% recommended. By the way, handmade in Germany ;-).

I use them primarily as race wheels, but will pull them out for a fast training ride, or when the ride will include a great deal of climbing/descending.So far, I have no real regrets. I stretched each tire for two days before mounting - this is critical, as they are VERY snug. Gluing them up was messier than usual, likely due to the tight tire/rim interface.They ride well, but even stretching when gluing is critical - I've had to re-glue each to minimize lumpiness. There's still a bit of hop, but it's lost in the road noiseRide is incredible (as expected). Not quite Corsa CX quality, but it beats any clincher I've ever ridden. Easy to install, removable valve core so an extender can be used for deep rim wheels. Black chili compound provides good grip. reasonably easy to install (for a tubular tire) as it can be stretched when applying to the rim. and yes black look is cool in conjunction with carbon rims. yellow walls are so last season!
Excellent tubular--and the reason why I swapped these for Vittoria tires: the inner tube does not leak air! While the latex tubes of the Vittoria tubulars are lighter--they ooze air a a slow rate. since I do not ride everyday, it has become a bit of a bother to refill both tires. Not so now with the Contis.
I have been using these tyres for four years now ~40,000km I have gone through about 8 of them. Four have punctured and four have just worn through the tread which I consider a great performance for a relatively lightweight tyre. Being so narrow they have to be pumped up hard (110psi) which means a bumpy ride on coarse seal but very smooth on fine seal.
