A Casual Shoe

I’ve always had a pair of Converse. High top, low top. Leather, canvas. Thought I’d give the platforms a try.And they’re ok.The thickness of the sole means there’s not much flexibility in the shoe for walking longer distances, or at speed. The quality of the laces is lacking. They’re not the wide, thick cotton laces in the usual converse shoes but a smaller thin cotton which don’t feel like they stay tight throughout the day. They’re an alright fashion shoe, and look good with a range of outfits. I just wouldn’t wear them if I knew I’d be walking long and far though.

Classic - but runs a big large

These shoes arrived even faster than promised (a real plus), but unfortunately they run a little large. I normally wear a 7.5-8 and ordered 7.5. I could have gotten away with a 7 but I don't want to go thru the hassle of exchanging, so I'll just up the sox. They're a little heavy (they ARE platforms) and a little stiff in the sole. I'm used to wearing Sketchers which have a lot of flexibility, but I'm needing a pair of shoes to support an arthritic toe joint, so a stiffer sole is perfect for me. If you like your shoes flexible, keep this in mind. Other than being a tiny bit large (which will be remedied with sox), they're great. And the service was awesome! I will definitely order again from Converse!

Love them despite the tongue issue

Long time Chuck wearer. I love these shoes and they are perfect for my old lady orthotics and arch supports since they have flat bottoms. Giving four stars because the tongue is too long and it rubs the front of my ankle. I compared with an older pair and the tongues weren’t always this long so I’m not sure when they thought lengthening that was necessary but I wish they’d shorten it again. I work around it by tying the laces BEHIND the tongue to keep it away from the skin but it would be cool to not have to worry about front ankle blisters. Still, I’ve been wearing these for too long to give up on them. Would buy again, I’ll just whine about the tongue when I do.

Perfect Converse
18 February 2024

I marked these true to size since the size chart recommends sizing down. I usually wear a 9.5W shoe and got these in a solid 9W. They are PERFECT in every way: 1. They are the most beautiful shade of a bubblegum/hot pink. 2. They are very comfortable! 3. They have the tab that keeps the tongue of your shoe in place. You know that little piece of fabric under your laces that you weave the laces through? Why do some converse NOT have that anymore? It bothers me so much when the tongue of a high top is all the way to the side. Anyways, get these shoes. Highly recommend 🩷

Stiffer, less breathable
15 March 2024

As a woman with a vast collection of chucks, it’s been a while since I purchased a new pair. The current seasonal purple is gorgeous, but I was surprised to find the canvas liner replaced with a synthetic mesh and straight up disappointed with the performance difference when I wore them. The new chucks feel stiffer overall, flex less when walking, and left my feet sweaty. In addition to the whole shoe feeling stiffer, the heel construction has also changed. The heel feels like it may be lined with a plastic insert rather than a coated canvas, which is ultimately the deal breaker. End of an era. If anyone with the power to address this is reading: please bring the original canvas construction back.

Tall and squishy, but not water proof
27 February 2024

Really comfy, very squishy. Literally felt like I was walking on moonboots the first couple of days took a bit to get used to. Kind of wish I got the high tops tho because it doesn't have an extra loop thing at the top to make a lace lock. Wish the tread was a bit more traditional criss cross but not complaining. Not water proof in the slightest should totally come with wax or something. Also the padding in the shoe is super thick and not able to be taken out so if you get trapped in a rain storm, we'll it's not a great experience and im afraid even with drying a couple of days the padding might still get moldy cause it's so thick and hard to dry. Aside from that really comfy and looks good, makes you a lil taller.

[Rewarded Review] ♡ these sneakers!!
3 June 2024

I just recieved my black pair. Wore them today & I love them so far! I have been wearing converse for 30 years now & have not worn high tops since elementary school. These are perfect height!! More low than high. Padded around ankles. They seem to be WAY more comfortable than original chucks. These needed no breaking in at all. I always spray all my shoes with suede/ water protector. I am getting a neutral color next! I ♡ these sneakers!! Forgot to add converse run large. I'm a solid 9 in all sneakers except converse I'm always an 8.5. Order a half size down unless you wear thicker socks with these. Then just order your normal size.

great shoe - terrible laces!!!
20 April 2024

Runs slightly large (I normally wear a 9, but ordered 8.5 and fit is perfect with socks on). Comfortable to wear for long periods of time and go with everything. BEWARE the laces though, the quality is absolutely awful. Very thin and snap/fray quickly. I had this shoe less than a week and the lace snapped when tying them up. It is odd as this is 2nd time I’ve ordered this shoe and don’t recall the quality being this bad - take note Converse! However, I went onto Amazon and ordered Converse White Shoe Laces 45 Inches and they are FAR superior. See photo: left shoe has the original laces (thin and cotton); right shoe has the new Converse lace ordered on Amazon (thicker and stretchy). You’ll thank me later! :)

love but need removable insole
12 October 2024

I love these shoes: they look great with everything you could possibly want to wear and come in endless colors, especially with the custom option. Like many, I have multiple pairs. But please, please stop gluing the insoles in. I still have several pairs from a few years ago that didn't have them glued in so I can slip in my own insoles. The insoles in Chuck 70s apparently aren't glued in but I really REALLY don't like the off-white midsoles. The insoles in the latest all stars are glued in so heavily I have to take them to a cobbler to remove, and even he can't get it completely out. Please, stop gluing them in? Or give us an option in the custom build to not do it?
