Purchased from Bunning's a few days ago. Checked before buying that it had no tilt knuckle at top (sliding collar can jam on this and prevent raising/lowering), and could be used with an outdoor table (yes, we were told). This model is very large and appears to be well made. We got it out of the long carton, but found it could not be installed safely into a standard outdoor dining table because the available pole insertion length was only 450mm, whereas the table was 730mm high (a standard height). The retracted umbrella arms are so long that if the pole was inserted for the required depth down through the table into the heavy umbrella stand, the umbrella could not be folded down completely. Pole 170mm too short for installation in table. Disappointed - it really ... MorePurchased from Bunning's a few days ago. The Coolaroo A5 catalogue, the packaging and the Coolaroo website make no reference to this limitation. Caveat emptor.

I bought three umbrellas, all lovely, very smart and the LED lights are great at night. One umbrella had a faulty usb/ battery charger for the LED lights. Bunnings was very unhelpful regarding replacement however Coolaroo/Paige pacific have very quickly provided a replacement battery pack.

We had a faulty locking mechanism, exchanged it for another one, and then that also had a faulty locking mechanism. I honestly have no idea why this product is still being stocked when the issue seems to be very common.

I bought this umbrella, it is really good and big. I bought the water base which says it fits up to 48mm diameter pole. This umbrella has a 48mm pole but is triangular not cylinder and the umbrella doesn’t sit properly and wobbles. It would have been good if in the description they stated the poles shape.
I purchased this item only to find that when I tried to assemble it there was no base. The base is clearly shown on the box and in the instructions but there isn't one. Bunnings agreed that it was misleading and kindly gave me a 25% discount on a base, but wait, there's more. Trying to raise the Umbrella proved to be impossible so I took it back where the ever reliable assistants at Bunnings discovered that the instructions were also misleading. Pressing the button to engage the 'push-up' proved impossible - you only press the button AFTER it has been erected so that you can pack it away - but it is not that easy to erect it as you have to be an Arnold Swartzaneger type to lift it. Pressing the button to engage the 'push-up' proved impossible - you only press the button AFTER it has been erected so that you can pack it away - but it is not that easy to erect it as you have to be an Arnold Swartzaneger type to lift it. I found the best way was to turn it upside down and then force the 'push-up' to the top where it then locks. You then have to lift it bodily on to the base (Arnold again). BUT releasing it proved impossible as you have to take it down and lay it face down on your lawn and carefully tread on the canopy to force the 'push-up' down and THEN you can press the button to release it before rolling it up for storage. Get a different brand as this one is too complicated for the average person - and it doesn't have a base.
Good shade coverage. Four aluminium struts seem to be holding up to breezes quite well, but after a few weeks of use the umbrella began to rotate in a breeze, so I tried to tighten the plastic height adjustment knob, which locks the upper pole to the lower pole. It didn't work so upon inspection I realised the part of the knob that is meant to press onto the upper pole to stop the upper pole rotating, or sliding down, has completely worn away. No the height adjustment knob does nothing at all & I have had to stick a u-bolt under it so the umbrella maintains its height. Problem is, the umbrella now spins around in the breeze & can hit the house or other objects - all because if a poor design.
The colour is beautiful. A really pretty turquoise. Sadly the adjustment wheel on the side dropped off the pole, when i opened the box, and i cant figure out if its faulty or broken. Hence i havent used the umbrella yet. Also, you need to order a stand separately, which is not obvious that it doesnt come with one, when you purchase the umbrella.
Unfortunately this product has a design fault. Generally the umbrella is very well constructed but the mechanism to hold up the adjustable pole disintegrated inside within 6 months on 2 umbrellas I purchased. It was a shame as otherwise they seemed very sturdy compared to others I have purchased.
Solid, large umbrella. Single pole. But with two pulley ropes it is very, very hard to raise. Then there is a pin to hold it open.. which you can’t reach unless very tall. Removing the pin to close is a problem. Go the cheaper marquee with a crank handle.
I bought this about a year ago. It has been a great buy, we use ours as a stand alone shelter. It's still in excellent condition, even despite falling numerous times with some crazy Melbournian winds. The only downside I could see would be that it may not be able to retract when in a table, given how wide it is.
