Cracked Caps

I even took to taping the seal between the marker and body because I thought the ink loss was simply due to the fact the crack made the cap loose by compromising the pressure by extending its diameter only to find the alcohol still escaped because the cracks extend into the inner chamber of the cap which itself communicates with the outside as the color code cap inside the top of the cap does not seal airtight. The proneness to cracking, inconsistent fit, and color code cap within the cap not being connected makes the Copic Sketch cap--the critical protector of all that premium ink, which should be flawless for the criticalness of its necessary function and the marker's price--a weak link that can lead to catastrophic ink loss and a money pit. I also assume that evaporating all the alcohol while leaving all the pigment inside after multiple refillings will cause its own damage to the integrity of the tone. And clearly Copic should sell replacement caps, as well as Super Brush nibs in reasonably priced bulk arrangements, as buying premium-priced markers that just evanesce all the premium-priced ink refill and need premium-priced nibs, which work out to cost per Super Brush almost half the price of a Copic Sketch marker--for felt!--only to have to replace said premium-priced marker because it came with a crack in the first place is mmaaddnneessss!!!

I have purchased alcohol ink markers from two other brands. There really is no comparison. These are pricey but the ease with which they work is quite surpirsing. I bought the Spring color small pack, and did a "test" right away to see if I liked them. Looking forward to more use and experimentation. I think I will buy more in the future. I purchased this to use with my manga and anime style drawings as I had heard many good things about Copic Sketch Markers. Especially the fact that they are refillable. I chose Sketching Grays as one of my starting sets because I wanted a way to add shadows and tones to my work, as well as to use the microliter for outlining. These markers did not disappoint! The dual tips allow for a wide range of line options and the colors lay down and blend beautifully. There is bleed through on cardstock, which I expected based on previous research, but I am going to primarily use them on Bristol Smooth paper going forward.I recommend these markers. Great markers

These markers are pricey but worth the money , you get a pretty good deal for them tho on this website as most places I've seen with copic sell them for 7.99. Markers are a new experience for me and I've always been nervous about color but these markers are just fantastic at bringing your work to a whole new level. I recommend getting a few shades of colors example : if you coloring in blonde hair I recommend at least 2 shades of like colors , 3 even better to really make your work stand out. These work great on all the canvases I've used them on , I've been using them a lot and no sign of them drying out yet. Blick has also been awesome the 1 time I did get a dried out marker they quickly and promptly sent me another marker and told me to toss the old one.

High Quality and Good for a Lifetime

It is environmentally important to me to use a marker that can be refilled. I haven't found Copic Various Ink refills in stores, but they are widely available online. All of their handmade replacement nibs are also available and are interchangeable, allowing you to use the tip you prefer. Once you own the barrel you can use it for a lifetime. The fact Copics don't fill our landfills is worth a lot. If you continue to refill them, the price evens out.I use the Sketch markers because the barrels are compatible with Copic's airbrush system. Otherwise, the Ciaos would probably be my choice, because of the cap. The Ciao barrel is round and the Sketch is oval. Being oval, the tip of the marker tends to hit the inside of the cap when it is being replaced. The ink that gets inside the cap transfers back onto the barrel of the marker. Eventually, the ink dries and becomes sticky, making it slightly harder to remove the cap. It's not a deal breaker for me, the cap and area around the marker tip need cleaning more often. If I didn't airbrush, I would own more Ciaos. The quality is the same and so are the tips. The only differences are the Ciao's smaller barrel doesn't hold as much ink, they aren't available in as many colors, and the caps don't seem to transfer the ink. I am pointing this out in such detail, because I don't think I have seen it in any reviews I have read. I still feel Sketch markers are high quality and I am glad they are what I invested in from the beginning.

I recommend, and would re-purchase
11 January 2023

This is my first set of Copic markers, and I have enjoyed using them, these colors are more muted, but that is what I was looking for. The only minor con with these markers, is that they can sometimes bleed from the tips, which can ruin artwork at times. It's usually due to air trapped in the marker, so before use, just open both ends for a moment before using. That solved it for me. Sometimes it's due to manufacturer over filling. Otherwise, the best part about these markers is that they are re-tillable.

My favorite markers
24 May 2023

I love Copic markers because they blend so effortlessly and really give me a nice finish to all my work. I mainly use them to color stamped images, although I do use them on original artwork and occasionally in mixed media. I have had issues lately with the Copics I received from Blick, which is very unusual, but they immediately made it right and replaced the markers that were completely dried out on arrival. I had given away my entire collection and had to buy quite a few markers at a time, so perhaps it was just bad luck that a number of markers were duds given the number I ordered. I will continue to use Blick and to buy Copics. I know they are expensive, but they are refillable and I find they usually last a good long while before I need to refill them. My obsession
8 January 2022

I've been collecting Copic Sketch Markers for about 6 months now, and I have to say, my satisfaction with their quality only continues to grow over time. For me the biggest reason I chose to invest in Copic despite their extremely high price tag (compared to other brands of alcohol markers) is the color range. As a color-obsessed and detail-oriented person the expanded range the Sketch markers offer cannot be matched by another brand at this point in time. Also from a long-term perspective it's great having refills available for every color so you don't have to throw away your marker every time it's empty. If you're looking to take illustration seriously and you have chosen markers as your media of choice, I cannot recommend Copic enough.#sweepstakes

Not worth the hype
4 January 2023

I finally decided to 'invest' in a few Copic markers for a project. Of the colors I purchased, some were dry - - 2 were bone dry. They are kept under lock and key, and the associate who was waiting on me had to wait until I was finished choosing. Although she did NOT prod me to conclude, I felt obligated to hurry through my choices and therefore did not test them. I cannot truly fault the markers or Michaels... they just do not sell enough of them in the store evidently. I know they are 'refillable' but why would anyone start with a purchase that needs refilling and would require purchasing ink? My advice: TEST THEM BEFORE PURCHASING! I have to say Michaels readily allowed me to return them the next day without question.

There really is no comparison

Ok so plain and simple, when it comes to alcohol markers, Copics are the real deal. I was skeptical for a long time, and really just chafed at the price of these because....well they're really expensive. I finally had a project that I needed really solid markers for and after perusing the shelves it just so happened I'd get the most bang for my buck with a pack of Copics. That's all I intended to buy. Well, as a result of using those for that project, I ended up buying several more packs. There really is no comparison for saturation, vibrancy and blending. They really are so very worth it. Definitely not for those start starting out, as you need enough experience to not ruin the markers given the cost, but if you know how to take care of them and can afford the ... MoreOk so plain and simple, when it comes to alcohol markers, Copics are the real deal.
