Corelle Linen Weave 12 Piece Dinnerware Set

I deducted one star ONLY due to having one older corning version of the same plate included in my set, and how this was handled. I hadn't noticed it was any different from the others until the brand marking started to fade in the dishwasher, and, after a few more dishwasher runs, the plate had yellowed significantly. Troubleshooting online proved fruitless. When I contacted customer support and included pictures, they kindly pointed out that the manufacturing of this one plate ceased in 1998. I felt this insinuated that I had kept a 20+ year old plate in pristine condition (aside from the yellowing) so I could pull a fast one on them, but maybe I'm reading too much into it. To be frank, this makes me nervous to buy again because if I bought an additional set with another manufacturers defect (granted, not technically defective, just a simple mistake in this case) it sounds like I'm out of luck. I understand the repetition of the "one-time goodwill" policy is to keep people from scamming the company, but if the customer has no control over what they get in the box you provide, and there's still quality control issues like this (I'm still curious why in the world they have such old plates mixing in with all the others in a warehouse somewhere,) that's kind of a bummer. In short, the rest of these newer plates are fantastic as expected but I don't believe that I will buy another set if these need replacement. However, maybe I will order their pyrex/soda-lime glass line in hopes of receiving an older PYREX/borosilicate piece they have lying around.

These are a good hybrid plate/bowl that serve admirably for either. Corelle seems to have been made for dishwashers. They fit well and provide no irregular spots to harbor debris. We bought these for our daughter, but we bought them because we have long term experience with these and similar. Will not hesitate to buy again.Not untreatable but they are tough.

I can remember Corelle in the 70's and I have owned it over the years - and now I find myself having to own it again and I'm resentful that it's the ONLY durable AND microwave safe product available. I live in a porcelain-tiled house and use the microwave for re-heating every day. BUT why are the patterns SOOO dated? Why hasn't Corelle updated their patterns to styles and colors more attractive like stoneware?? The patterns look and feel like grandma. Well I love my grandma and maybe Corelle is honoring our heritage and helping me to remember grandma every time I use my dishes :-)
