Costa Jose Pro Sunglasses Silver Metallic / Blue Mirror 580G

I like the size of the lenses and overall size of the sunglasses. I feel they fit a little low on the nose compared to my other sunglasses, but I guess it just takes getting used to.I wish I could have looked at the through the Virtual World View but there are way too many biometric sharing in my opinion. Maybe I would have tried a different style had I been able to use that option.Over all I find the glasses nice and they style is just like the other pair I own because I didn't want to risk ordering another style.

Amazing

I went to the local Cabelas and tried a lot of different models on. Let me tell you, when I put on the Jose I was amazed at how well it fit my face. I have a large head (7 5/8) with a medium/large nose bridge, and even though these are specified as "Medium," they fit amazing. I bought the Blackout frame with the Copper Silver Mirror poly lens. The amount of definition and contrast these create are amazing! If you think sunglasses should simply "darken" the bright light you are definitely missing out. I am using these for everyday wear, driving, sports, and of course being on the water. Comparing the Jose to the MJ Wassup or Peahi they are definitely lighter since I went with the poly lens. The newly retooled frames are well built with a much harder "rubber" around the nose and ear along the frame. At first it didnt even feel rubbery to the touch, but when you wear them you can definitely tell they grip your nose and ears really well. Very happy with my new shades, thanks Costa!

Got a pair that sits crooked?!

This is the 5th pair of Costa’s I’ve purchased in the past few years and the second pair of Jose’s...so it’s tough to write this review. I’ve always loved the products Costa puts out...until now. I received these a few weeks ago and they just do not sit right. The one side comes up higher than the other and it’s very obvious to anyone that puts them on and awkward to the point that I’ll never wear them. So i called customer service and arranged for them to be exchanged and they sent them back to me saying there’s nothing wrong with them! Why would I go through the hassle of sending them back if they were fine?! Worst part is I had a 50% off coupon, so I can’t even return them, and now stuck with a crooked pair of sunglasses. Great Optics. Average frames.

Purchased Rx Jose with Green Mirror/Copper. Great in bright sun and great contrast. Sharpness through the entire lens view. Great polarization as advertised. Only gripe is the frames just don't have the same quality vibe as the lenses. The spring mechanism is a bit rickety in operation and the rubber inserts feel more like plain plastic. Overall I do like the superior optics. But there is also the feeling of spending a lot of money buying a high-performance Porsche that is riding on WalMart tires. Would recommend for the optics however. As good as advertised.

Great Quality but Poor Durability

I picked these up after losing my first pair of Costas (Corbinas 580P) after five years while rafting. I had scratched my Corbinas after three years so I got new lenses and also had some general repairs done. When I lost those I immediately got the Jose's because I couldn't go without having a pair of Costas. I opted for the 580G since I didn't want to scratch them as I had the Corbinas.I've had them only a little over a year now and I've babied them trying not to scratch them. Originally they were great and I could tell a difference in the clarity of the glass. That didn't last long though as they have begun to wear much quicker than my previous pair did. They are very flimsy now around my ears and don't stay on my face very well. A friend of mine had the Jose's as well and his frame straightened out completely from the heat when he left his hanging by the strap. I guess the heat is the reason mine has lost its rigidity? I don't have a strap on mine, but do leave them in the sunglass holder in my truck.Now to top it off I got a huge scratch right in the center of my view while weed eating the other day. In hindsight maybe I shouldn't have been wearing them while weed eating, but they definitely scratched much easier than I feel like they should. Now I'm debating if I should pay to repair them or just buy a new pair of Wiley X sunglasses. Not sure that they will have the quality of Costa but they are much cheaper and seem to last forever.

Great glasses but lacking....

I've held off writing a review on the Jose sunglasses as I've really wanted to be more positive. The look and lenses are excellent. There are two issues with the glasses that I didn't recognize when I purchased. First, there needs to be rubber adhesion at the end of the bows so the glasses stay on your face better (or on the rim of a ball cap when when not in use). I've added the Costa strap but not a big fan. In the past, I've had another brand of high line sunglasses and this wasn't a problem. Secondly, the right bow screw is consistently backing out of the hinge. I've now noticed through reviews this appears to be an issue with other folks as well.Other than those two issues (which the first is a big deal to me) I like the glasses.

I would definitely be buying more sunglasses from NFM

Shocked to see Costas at NFM. Was even more shocked at the product price for the pair I purchased. Extremely happy with my purchase. This is the 3rd pair of Costas I have purchased and plan on buying more.

Old Guide - New tricks

I've been guiding close to 20 years. For all of these years, I have used a competitors glasses. This season, a friend recommend a set of Costa's. I purchased these in the light yellow tint for cloudy days on the flats. Instantly I was amazed with how clear the lenses were and how much better I could see. It was nearly shocking. In fact, I brought my old glasses with and would do side by side comparisons. I was so impressed with the glasses, I purchased another pair for sunny days. Again, same result. Nearly shocked me how clear these glasses are!

Poor quality and too expensive to fix

I paid over $600 for the prescription 580G. Great style and look. Unfortunately, I have been through two pairs (the first pair my dog chewed, no fault to Costa). After buying new frames and having my prescription lenses installed in the new frames, within two weeks the screw fell out of the right arm. Took them to the dealer where I purchase them (you have to for prescription; can't go through online - inconvenient) for a new screw for the arm. They wanted to charge me $75 to have the glasses sent to Costa for repair. Therefore took matters into my own hands and decided to repair them myself, terrible job but, functional. Once this pair fails (most likely in the near future) I am done with Costa Del Mar. I have been wearing Costas everyday since 2004, time to save ... MoreI paid over $600 for the prescription 580G. The greatest Clarity in Sun Glasses ever!!

I had not purchased a quality pair of sunglasses for years. For one the cost is a little high for my blood. But after much research and deliberation I finally decided to pull the trigger. I couldn't have made a better purchase. These things were perfect!! Perfect fit. Better clarity!! I was able to use them for 2 days on the Colorado river. On boats and jet skis these things not only allowed me to see everything but provided the much needed wind protection that is required while on the water for long periods of time. The worst part of this story is that on our last day...hours before we were set to leave myself and a passenger rolled a jet ski and I lost my glasses. Even with the Halyard wire retainers.
