This umbrella is great for sitting in a rain storm but not perfect!Because the design involves two umbrellas, the fabric between the center point and each umbrella collects water which then fills to then pour down your back as if you’ve been dosed with Gatorade after winning the big game! Not a pleasant experience especially when you’re using a device. I’ve solved the problem by crafting supports between the posts, I’ve fixed the problem. So there’s three solutions here: 1. Craft your own supports. 2. Perhaps the manufacturer can design a solution. 3. Don’t sit under it in the rain. Still, this is a wonderful product and worth the price.

I purchased this for my parents, who have a large, sunny balcony. They have had it for 2 months and they are very happy with it. It provides a lot of shade for much less money than a retractable awning or other shade structure. It does not come with a base, but I actually like that. Most of the bases that come with umbrellas are not heavy enough or wide enough.The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the opening and closing process is a bit difficult for my my father, who has balance issues and arthritis in his neck. We are more than pleased with this umbrella. This umbrella is large enough to shade our 16' patio, which is what we wanted and have been looking for. It will also keep our living room much cooler, blocking the direct rays of the hot sun. This triple set of umbrellas is also vented at the top of each section, a must for air flow.It is well made, and the price is reasonable. Note that the pole is 1.89" in diameter, which will require a much heavier base for stabilization, and a larger support post to support the additional weight. This umbrella is perfect for our large outdoor table. It is HUGE and exactly what I was looking for! The assembly takes all of two seconds, you basically need to pop the pole into place and you are ready to rock! It has a nice tie back to keep the umbrella together when not in use and not blown away in the wind.The umbrella is much heavier than your standard patio table umbrella but it makes me feel good about it sturdiness. I struggled to get the box in the house and once we assembled it, I needed my husband to help me put it through the hole in the table. The material seems heavy duty and will with stand the elements in the summer time. I always bring my umbrellas in during the winter months but it is nice to know it will hold up easily in the garage. The crank system works perfectly and it has serious support on the under side of the umbrella that works with the crank.A few items to note...this does not come with the stand and the directions recommend at least 44 lb stand to support the heavier weight of the umbrella. I would also recommend one that is nice and tight or has a pin to tighten it to keep it from spinning in the wind since its a rectangle.Overall, I am super happy with this umbrella. It makes so much more sense to have a rectangular umbrella on a rectangle table than a round one! This is heavy duty and looks nice! Purchased this to replace similar one, same color, that got damaged in a storm. Just set it up and there is a hole or run in the fabric. There are also pull holes or holes around where the arms insert into the fabric, holes like that should not be there out of the box, maybe after some use and wear but not brand new and just unwrapped. Also, the pole is black instead of dark brown like our previous umbrella so it does not blend in as well with the patio furniture, deck and natural surroundings quite as well. Bought this one to save a little money, guess you get what you pay for. Very disappointed. My husband is a retired engineer and is very impressed with the tri-peak system used to open the umbrellas. Word of caution: You MUST have a very heavy base for this umbrella as it catches the breeze much like a sail on a boat. We already had a fairly large heavy wrought iron base, which my husband estimated to be about 70 lbs. Even so, we always roll up the umbrella when a storm or heavy winds are expected. The umbrellas was relatively easy to assemble - just need to connect the tubing, which has pop-up buttons similar to a vacuum cleaner's hose. Love this patio umbrella. It’s even bigger and better than I thought! We can sit under it completely in the rain even! It’s under our lanai here in FL but on not a covered area. And I love the fact that it isn’t green or tan too! It’s very heavy duty and works great, easy to crank up and take down, it’s not light though, which is good, especially here in high winds. However, if we had a hurricane I would never leave it up! It’s definitely a great value for the price!PS- this isn’t your average table it’s over either. This Farmhouse style table is 80 long plus the chairs if that helps!

This is the size umbrella I wanted, but this one is a big disappointment. The fabric is too sheer for sun protection; the bright sun shines right through. The fabric flaps around a lot in the slightest breeze and the whole umbrella keeps trying to turn. In my situation, it cannot turn because it is in a breezeway, but it repeatedly hits the wall. This is in only a slight breeze that no one would define as wind.I purchased this as a replacement for my 3 year old SuperJare umbrella that did very well for three summers. This umbrella comes as advertised. It is a very sturdy and nice looking addition to our pool patio. As stated you do need a very solid and heavy base for it due to the weight and width of the umbrella. This will keep it upright in light winds. I recommend a base with at least 60 lbs weight, or even better, one with 80lbs. The base must be able to accept a 1.9 inch width pole, which is larger than a standard umbrella pole width of 1.25 inches. The listing does have a link to a product that offers a nice base on wheels that fits these criteria perfectly. This base will cost around an additional 100.00. Superjare also offers an umbrella cover for this unit which we purchased for about 35.00 for winter storage. So far we are very happy with all three purchases !
