Crankbrothers Candy 7 Pedals Black
Sitting about halfway between the Candy 1 and the Candy 11 is the Candy 7. It's the Crank Brothers pedal that probably appeals to most people and works best for the most riding. The Candy 7 shares a shape and body with the top-of-the-line Candy 11. The difference is that the titanium bits are replaced with stainless steel. There's the SCM 435 chromoly steel spindle, the 17-4PH stainless steel wings. Otherwise, the pedal functions identically. You have the same retention system shapes (they call them "wings"), the same 300 series stainless steel spring, the same 6061-T6 aluminum body, the same customizable traction pads on the sides (these are 1mm and 2mm thick, and can be swapped out, or left off completely). The pedal body is still 65mm front-to-back. It's still 16mm top-to-bottom. And the Q-Factor is still 52mm. Bearings are sealed and well-protected. As with many of their pedals, the inner bearings are Igus LL-glide bearings and the outer a super-durable and smooth Enduro cartridge bearings. Even with all this material, the pedals weigh only 320g per pair. In terms of setting up the cleats, know that Crank designed theirs to offer two different release points. Array the cleats one way, and you shoe will release at fifteen degrees. Array the other, and it will release at 20 degrees. The Crank Brothers Candy 7 Pedals are the sweet spot choice for cyclocross, cross-country, epic, enduro, and so on.

I?ve been on crank brothers pedals for a long time. Many years and miles. Mountain and gravel bike. My knees feel better due to their float. The 15 degree float is more than enough to mask anything but perfect alignment while installing the cleat to you shoes. The Candy 7 is the ?Goldielocks? of the range. You get the better bearings but still a steel spindle. A lighter spindle material sacrifices durability for weight savings. Really, any pedal in this range is going to be great. Reading some other reviews here and I?ve experienced all the negative ones with any pedal. It?s a consumable item on a bike much like a chain or cassette.

I love how easy these pedals are to clip in and out of, plus the added float provides a bit more comfort too, without giving up any of the energy transfer. Great pedal for XC mountain biking and can take a beating.I bought these as I was just getting into mountain biking and have beaten them up on numerous rocks and they've held up great. As a beginning it was nice being able to reverse the cleat and be able to unclip very easily and then as I became more comfortable in them, switch them around for a more firm hold (what an awesome design).Would highly recommend these to any rider.

I have multiple sets of these pedals because they shed mud and dirt off your shoes every time you clip in, have 4 points of engagement so there’s never a missed clip in, they don’t need to be greased, they come in Great colors to match your bike, and they have a nice sized platform (so if you need to ride without you Cycling shoes you can).I highly recommend these pedals for Bikepacking, Cyclocross training & racing, MTB riding, and Gravel racing! I’ve been out Bikepacking for 10 months and have nothing but great things to say about these pedals!!!

I have been racing CX and Mtb XC for 20 years. I have always used Spd and hated whenever there was mud or snow because of how bad the pedals pack up. I was in a race last week vying for 3rd place and was neck and neck with the competition until the run up. I bet him up the hill but could not lock in no matter how much i tried clearing them. I couldn't keep my feet on the pedals to produce good power on the final sprint. I bought these pedals and raced an equally muddy course last week and was so happy at how well they worked. I will be switching over my snow bike pedals shortly
I've been riding these pedals for ~2 years now. I prefer the Crank Bros. mechanism to that of the SPD's. I find it much easier to clip in/out of these pedals while having few experiences of unplanned releases. The generous amount of float helped me resolve an issue I was having with knee pain. I have slammed these pedals in to several rocks and they have been holding up very well. Only recently have I felt some play in the pedals, but you know what, Crank Bros. actually offers a rebuild kit. This is one of the few companies that actually want you to continue to use their product. Serviceability is a high priority for me on wear items such as pedals. Top marks on these bad larrys.
I race cyclocross professionally, and ride mountain bikes religiously. Candy pedals have been my go-to pedal since 2008, when I went through 5 different pedals before finding these to be the best in all conditions and quick, easy, and safe to get in and out of while supporting my aggressive riding! I just ordered two pairs of the Candy 7 for my race bikes!
I have migrated to using Candy pedals on al my bikes - XC, all mountain, MTB ultra-endurance, gravel and even road. I love the consistency of having the same pedal and can swap shoes any day. On my road rides. Can walk with ease using MTB cleats instead of sliding around of road cleats. Solid & reliable. The cleats work in every condition including heavy mud. Candy’s do love a tiny bit of maintenance - just check the end caps every several months and rebuild once a season & you are good to go.
The pedals are all around solid but in that great way. weight is not overly crazy. clipping in and out is very simple. the maintenance is simple and have repair kits if need be. I chose the candy 7 because of the platform that is provided on them, I wanted a little something under the foot, but nothing ridiculous or overly huge. I get total support out of these pedals and use them on both my hardtail and gravel bike.
This is the second set of Candy 7 pedals I've bought and they have been great. Super easy to clip in and out of, even as a beginning biker. My old pair I rode with for a number of years and they've always provided solid contact and stability. Truly a great pedal and I'd recommend for beginning and experienced riders.
Fantastic pedal! Very light weight. I can’t believe it. Quality is exceptional. That being said, it was fairly confusing trying to increase the clip tension, because the standardinstallation was wayyy to easy to slip off. Discovered some tricks but it took a lot of googling. And those tricks will be different for each shoes. CB should add these tips to the manual.
