My cricut arrived yesterday, used it right away. Easy to set up,as had older one. All I can say is, my oh my this is absolutely brilliant !! As old one needed fixing, decided on this upgrade. So glad I did ! Was able to finish a project that had start which was for Christmas, gift boxes for families presents. One word of advice, it's alot faster, don't be suprised if it makes you jump when it starts to cut/draw,as it did me , also if you do use a mat,a long mat, make sure you have the room,as it goes all the way back, then forth,as I found out,as it's measuring the size of mat. Also it saves your settings for projects, 1 click and go. My project was done in a couple of hours. All in all amazing and so very happy indeed ! I got this for Christmas from my husband and I'm hooked! I've played with it everyday since I got it a week ago. Luckily, I was also gifted a Michael's gift card to buy the essentials to get me started. I've made stickers for myself and all of my friends and labels for around the house. My favorite part of this machine is its ability to draw pictures so quickly and so beautifully with a variety of different Cricut pens and markers; it's so mesmerizing to watch! I can't wait to start making my own cards for friends and family, the things I can create with my Cricut Explore 3 are endless!

Ive owned and used the Air 2 daily for years without any problems. I actually really loved that machine, but the rollers were getting worn and I figured it was time for an upgrade. This machine has been nothing but a headache since I opened it. I figured there would be a little bit of a learning curve, as there is with anything, but its awful. Im constantly getting a flashing red light. I can no long cut my mats in half, which I prefer because of the small intricate cuts I usually make. It supposedly faster, but measures the mat each and every time, says its 100% done, long before the cutting actually finishes. This machine seems to have been made for the use of Cricut vinyl only, which I don't generally use, its torn up countless feet of vinyl at this point and has ... MoreIve owned and used the Air 2 daily for years without any problems. It cuts stuff. I really only use it for iron on and regular vinyl varieties, and it is cool how precisely it can cut designs that are very small. I used to screen print t-shirts, but I am an amateur; the Cricut had leveled up the quality of my product immensely. And yet, I expected more. I paid full price for the thing, never having seen one in person before. Everything is super controlled by Cricut, from the pre-made designs you can download for a price, to the prompts you have to go through when setting up a cut. I was hoping for a little more leeway for creativity’s sake.I figured out the software pretty quickly, but it doesn’t have all the tools I find myself searching for when creating designs, which can get frustrating. I was hoping for a little more leeway for creativity’s sake.I figured out the software pretty quickly, but it doesn’t have all the tools I find myself searching for when creating designs, which can get frustrating. The program is also slow on my MacBook … Soooo sloowwww. I cannot do anything quickly. I have troubleshooted this numerous times, to no avail. Everything from clearing old data from my hard drive to re-calibrating the machine. And yet, there are still issues with bluetooth losing connection, or just not connecting. The machine freezes sometimes, requiring a restart. Any time there is an issue in the seemingly 30-step process to cut a piece of vinyl, you have to start all over again from the canvas screen. For example, if I get to the part where I am supposed to load the vinyl into the machine, but I noticed I’m supposed to have mirroring on because it’s iron-on, I can’t just quickly hit the button and get back to it, because the software and machine can’t keep up with that quick change. It freezes. Drops the connection. I have to go back to the canvas page or just restart the cricut program on my computer. Another really frustrating one is with smart vinyl or iron-on, if the machine doesn’t pull in the vinyl at the exact right angle, it gets all crumpled up, confused, and freezes. The computer program has no idea what’s up. So you have to turn the machine on and off again and hope that it releases the vinyl upon restarting. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t and off it goes again. Then when I finally do get the vinyl out, it is mangled, I have to cut it down (or, god forbid, cut a whole new piece), and restart the stupid computer program. It ends up taking so long to do anything, and I can’t help but wonder, in this day and age, shouldn’t the process of cutting out shapes with a machine be a little smoother? It’s clearly a complex process, but I feel like the issues I’ve had could easily be fixed if anyone paid more attention. Or is it just me? There are so many people raving about their cricut machines, sooo many videos of different crafters explaining how to use them, as well as tons of other online resources for all the crafty possibilities with these machines. I have not read ANYTHING that mentions difficulties with the machines, or that warns of the high potential for developing a migraine when using Design Space. Am I the only one questioning if this thing is really worth all the hype (and the money)??
I bought one in August, 8 weeks later it was cutting anything requiring the sensor like a mad thing, wasted A LOT of costly paper and drove me to distraction. The sensor could not cope. Asked it to cut the bassa wood purchased from Cricut to make a few xmas decorations and it took 7 hours, yes you read correctly 7 hours to cut them requiring 14 cuts for each design. It wasn't long after that the sensor lost the plot (excuse the pun as its technically a plotter)Credit to CRICUT they replaced it after a phone call, so customer service was great, bt the replacement was still techy about somethings and bottom line is if I need to create and cut stickers or anything with positioning, I use another machine altogether. It cuts vinyls beautifully and does lots of other ... MoreI bought one in August, 8 weeks later it was cutting anything requiring the sensor like a mad thing, wasted A LOT of costly paper and drove me to distraction. Just madey first project with my maker3. It's a sign for my mailbox . Didn't have outdoor Vinyl so I just used the sample in my kit. Hung it out in my workshop. Looks pretty good. It was fairly easy to navigate through design space. Like learning a new software program for the computer just using the delete and go back button quite a bit. Glad I bought it. I think once I get the hang of it it will really help me in my woodworking making stencils.
Every Cricut machine is different and what works for me might not work for you. But I am SO glad I chose the Maker 3. I chose this one because the Maker 3 does not have a limit to what you can make. The only real limit is your imagination. I am not a creative person AT ALL and I am a beginner, and I still learned how to make several different projects within minutes of going through each tutorial. The installation and setup was very easy and they literally walk you through how to do all the different projects on this machine. I loved that it came with a bundle full of tools and different types of material so that I did not have to guess which items I needed as a beginner. I recommend you do your research before deciding which Cricut and bundle is right for you. But I definitely do not regret my purchase! Oh, one thing: It is NOT compatible with Chromebooks! Thank goodness I had another computer because that would have been a disaster! Read ALL the compatibility details BEFORE buying!
I have wanted a Cricut for ages and finally but the bullet and bought the Explore 3 last week. We have to pay to have work t shirts printed and vinyl signs printed but not anymore! The young lady at Hobbycraft was lovely, we were on our way to buy a machine at another store but thought would pop into Hobbycraft on the way to check out their pricing. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and showed us all the machines available and their features etc. She was genuinely interested and made us feel comfortable. We left to go to the other store and spoke to the man in there who obviously didn’t have a clue, he didn’t even know what the machines did! I have printed a few new work t shirts and loads of signs! Looking at making Christmas presents now!Love my machine and love Hobbycraft
Worth the upgrade! If you get it at the right time, it's worth the upgrade. The Good:Quiet, faster. The Bad:no variation in machine color, the set-up takes longer and is frustrating (not as easy as 1,2,3 like explore air 2).Imo:You will have software issues if you are running M1 and/or Windows 11 running on an unsupported pc. If that doesn't work or if you want to skip all this:TLDR:the fast way to set up the machine is to use your phone. don't use mac m1 or windows 11 to set up & register the machine. I just saved you an hour or two of frustration, still don't get why it's not as easy as explore air 2 or every other cricut machine.
This is a fabulous machine which you can use to draw, cut, stencil, emboss projects using a variety of products such as cardstock, permanent vinyl and iron on.It can be a bit daunting to start with, so I would recommend looking at lots of YouTube videos to get an idea about how it all works. You will need a device such as a smartphone or laptop to use the Design Space where you can find a variety of projects and templates to use. I also bought the basic tool set and cutting mats which are essential for projects. It takes practice but this is a great versatile machine.
