I had the exact same experience as previous reviewer Jengraham. I received the 7 quart oval model as a wedding gift 3.5 years ago. I finally got to unpack all my gifts and open the Crockpot for the first time last month. Mine worked fine on low for 6 hours the first time, but during the second use on low for 8 hours my oval insert developed several microscopic cracks and leaked into the metal heating base. I smelled burning, had a mess burned onto the inside of the metal base and it had leaked all over my countertop and everything that was on the counter.I am so disappointed. I just took it out of the box, used it twice and handled it with extreme care. I contacted Crockpot to ask how to clean the unit and what to do about the leak. Defective product. First one boiled on the "Keep Warm" setting and overcooked food. Replacement will not reach boil on the "High" setting. My advice? Keep buying and returning crockpots until you get one with a working thermostat. It may take several tries before this happens thanks to cheap Chinese production quality. Low should be 200 degrees, High should be 300 degrees, and Warm should be 175 degrees. Good luck!

Crock of what?

How can a crock pot heat unevenly. Not a little. Half the pot burns and the other half doesn't even cook. Measured temperature front to back is 40 F different. The front of the pot is 140 the back is 180. Really? How did they fail so spectacularly at doing the one thing a slow cooker is supposed to do. The build quality is equally horrible throughout. The handle fell of the lid the first use. No one in the factory bothered to tighten up the screws. The liner doesn't really fit right. even the feet are wobbly. Feels like it's on the verge of tipping over any second. The whole thing reeks of cheap. You can guess where it was made. Never buying "Crockpot" brand again. Sadly I've had it too long to return. Maybe I can make a flower pot out of it. It would probably fail ... MoreHow can a crock pot heat unevenly. Not a little. Half the pot burns and the other half doesn't even cook. Crock-pot has gone CHEAP
2 January 2023

Bought this crock pot for a Christmas gift. Couldn't bring myself to give it, though. It's really a piece of junk. Only THREE feet?! Wobbles like crazy. The wall of the base is SO flimsy, that one wrong glance and you'll dent it. We have the same model from a few years ago and boy, what a difference - quality and craftsmanship was in stock when we got ours. This one......nope, they clearly are all out of those things - as well as pride in their product. DON'T waste your money!!

Dont know about this

Of course it works great. The only problem which is a huge one. The silver part gets SO HOT. I have never had a crockpot that you couldn’t touch the outside of it. I touched it and burned myself, after that I moved it back so my toddler couldn’t touch it. Unfortunately my older child (5) touched it before I could stop her while trying to get snacks and it burned her hand while resulted in several minutes of tears and running cold water on it. Definitely a design flaw that can actually harm people

Received digital crock pot instead of manual
28 April 2023

The crock portion of my trusty old crock pot cracked, so i ordered an exact replacement. I received a digital instead of manual crockpot. I figured that maybe they switched to all digital, but that’s ok since technology is always changing. Was I ever wrong! The Keep Warm function is the same as cooking on high and will scorch the food in the bottom of the crock. It took forever for this one to heat and start cooking, even when starting it on High. This has a one year warranty. One year and one week later, I plugged the crock pot in to cook a meal. The digital display flashed at me, so I looked up a troubleshooting guide. Nothing worked, but it started to work suddenly on its own. The next time I tried, the display flashed at me, but it cooked on high. I mean HIGH. ... MoreThe crock portion of my trusty old crock pot cracked, so i ordered an exact replacement. Therefore, with no warranty in place, it is going to go into the trash and I will once again order a manual crock pot like I have used for many years without problems.

Saves Me Time and Money

Big enough for a good sized chicken, a large pot of beans or soup, a casserole. I am a single and cooking every day is not my thing. This larger crockpot allows me to cook those recipes best done lower and slower in big batches to portion out and freeze for later. Three or four days prepping and cooking main dishes in this beauty gives me a month of tasty dinners, hassle free. I've even cooked bread in it! Great appliance at a great price. Even though I live in a tiny home, and this pot is big, I will find a spot for it!!

Too hot to handle, but its a negative not a postive.
8 January 2023

Would give zero stars if I were able to. I don’t know if the unit is faulty or if it’s just terribly made. Listen, my expectations were not sky high, it’s $25. I bought it as an extra thing to cook in on Christmas Day as a “just in case”. There’s literally no bells or whistles, not even a light to indicate that it’s on, that’s fine (annoying but fine) what isn’t fine is the only way you can tell if it’s heating up is to touch it. Except that this thing is scalding hot. I mean, SCALDING. I have a burn scar from it. I have no idea how it passed any sort of safety testing because it’s genuinely unsafe.

Very cheaply made
11 October 2022

Firdt off this thing is extremelycheaply made! The insert does not fit snug and has a 1/2in gap all the way around which causes the insert to shift alot. The feet are not placed properly and its very unstable and it tilts very easily which is not good especially seeing how this gets very hot. The outside is made of very thin material and just looks and feels very cheap. The cord is also really short which can limit where you place this. I literally got this home, took it out of the box, saw how horrible it was and placed it right back into the box to be returned. I Definitely recommend spending the extra money on a better one.
