I just used this to cook basmati rice with onion and cilantro. It came out well. The pot came up to temp and held the heat well until the rice cooked through. I managed to not overcook the rice but got it al-dente. Never was able to do it that way in stainless steel pans. Part of the reason was that the lid was so heavy and effectively trapped the moisture for the final 10 minute steam.It washed well. Not much stuck at all after a soak in hot water. The true beauty of this item is that it is almost fully glazed inside and out. I love my new small caste iron pot. However the colors way off from the one pictured on website and here. It shows a lovely bright green. My is a dull sage green and it is very hard to see the duo tones. That is my only complaint. It is just not the lovely green I had hoped for. But too expensive to return, so I will just have to live with it.

I've wanted a Dutch oven forever, but hesitated because they're so pricey. This is exactly like the more expensive Le Creuset version. It's attractive, well made, heavy, with a strong enamel coating. I've used it 3 times already, including to bake bread! Bonus : it cleans up easily and looks brand new, even after making pot roast for 3 hours.
Beautiful enamel. Very heavy pot with the cast iron but it’s great to use in the oven. Required to have a sturdy back to lift it from the oven. Ha.

It's heavy of course because it's cast iron, but I wish I'd invested in such long ago. It's also beautiful. I can't make any claims to its longevity since mine is new. It's a bit concerning there is a rough edge vs smooth finish at the top edge where the inside enamel meets the cast iron. Time will tell. Of course cast iron pots such as ... I like this pot. I bought it specifically for Cassoulet and didn't want to spring an extra $200 for Julia Child's Le Creuset. Crock Pot looks great and is a wise choice for function and style. It'll last longer if you take care of it, don't burn anything to the bottom, and don't use scrubber pads or cleansers. Little sauteing on the stove top and then into the oven. Nice
I find myself using it again and again. It's size is great and it heats the food evenly without burning it to the bottom like our stainless steel pots. I really enjoy using it for making side items at dinner time. We have a 6 quart one from a different (more expensive) company and the quality of the material and thickness seems to be just as great. I like that the size of this one is just a bit smaller than our other because it's not as cumbersome to lift it out of our lower kitchen cabinet. I've both hand washed it and put it through the dishwasher and it washes up great. I'm really happy with this purchase.
This is my first Dutch oven. It cooks evenly. I like it . I made popcorn in it. The size is perfect.
