Crucial P2 M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB

I have recently purchased one of these in the last month and couldn't be happier. It is an m.2 drive giving you the quick boot and loading times which are substantially quicker than a HDD or SSD. It was also cheaper than all of the SSDs on the market for a 2TB drive making anything but this purchase a no brainer. Getting 2-7 times the speeds of a sata SSD for a cheaper price really makes this stand out as It shows how good the value is. Although it is just marginally slower than my boot drive, it costs twice as much while producing 4 times the storage space.Max

Be careful with buying this one as the write performance is abysmal. Crucial initially released this with TLC flash and that performed well enough but more recent units use QLC flash which is much, much slower. Like just barely 5 MB/s write slow.Spend your money elsewhere on something with decent write performance.

Pros:- Extremely affordable- Quick to boot into Windows- Quick to open ApplicationsCons:- Slow transfer speeds for larger files (10gb+)Overall, this is a great drive for your OS, applications and for day-to-day tasks - It displays a noticable improvement versus sata SSD's and HDD's.However, the slow transfer speeds of larger files is where it falls short (dropping to below 100MBps after a minute or two of sustained writing) and this is frankly a bit dissapointing.It may not be the best option for "fast" storage where quick (and consistent) read and write speeds for larger files are necessary.

Good drive in a poor OS 4/5 Eggs

Installation was super easy. BIOS detected the drive, Windows 10 did not. Using the drive manager I was able to mount and format it. I spent a good bit of time filling it up, however I noticed a lot of write errors, particularly with Steam. Seemed like the drive could be bad, after investigating, it appears to be okay. I disabled all drive security in the BIOS and disabled Bitlocker. A new format and I am up and running, but wait, still having issues. When the Windows 10 is writing to the disk the laptop cannot be suspended. Otherwise, the data gets corrupted. This makes sense with the write speeds and everything, I just never had the issues in Linux. Also, this is my first Windows install in over a decade. Good replacement for my laptop

I bought this drive to replace the old drive due to it's limited size. It was practically full all the time. This one has double my storage and is just as fast as my old one. SSD storage has definitely come down in price over the past few years. I can honestly recommend upgrading to a SSD if you haven't already got one. You will notice a huge performance boost.

Great little nvme SSD for a laptop.

Realistically I just enjoy using crucial products. You could say I love the brand. They have proven reliable and when I can find them at a steep enough discount, they are very affordable. I've heard the whole spiel regarding "There are only 3 or 4 major chip manufacturers who produce for all the solid state memory providers so you really don't need to worry about brand names" and I guess some of that is true. But I also know that each batch of chips has to undergo testing before they even attempt to pass the lot on to an actual device manufacturer or assembly plant. Guess who gets the best chips with the least defects found - you guessed it, not you and me...military, very high price or ultra dependable manufacturers like medical, NASA, military, airline ... MoreRealistically I just enjoy using crucial products. So far they have bought the best quality chip the makers have for sale (on the commercial market). Crucial has always come through, their SSD nvme software or firmware driver magic portion of the SSD is pretty doggone good, other than how BIOS and Windows seem to obstruct a new drive's recognition. But the Crucial RAM and SSD that I've purchased have been recognized with only a little difficulty (RAM is always recognized if seated) and performance is more than adequate - Crucial is Superb! This puppy (Dell E7470) boots Windows almost as fast is it boots my Linux multiboot systems - and a good 30 seconds faster than the original windows installation ever booted. Of course I upgraded the RAM about a year ago, and the SSD just this Christmas, so of course it boots faster now. I'll continue to use Crucial among a few other quality producers in all my electronics because dependability and expense are my major concerns. The speed difference is just "icing on the cake" so to speak. If I have to carry a laptop and boot up several times a day, I appreciate the reliability and dependability.

Meh performance

I can start by saying the drive worked fine and I had no fatal issues with it. I loved the price but quickly realized why it is cheaper. I purchased the drive with the intent of editing videos from the SSD and storing them on my external drive. Sadly, the sustained read/write speeds were no faster than my internal hard drives for large files (4k videos totaling upwards of 50GB). For those wondering, yes I have verified this SSD was the bottleneck. Overall, for a boot drive/gaming drive it would be wonderful! For any application dealing with large file transfers quickly, look into something able to sustain the read/write speeds.

Price performance trade off

Price performance trade off. It's not a fast NVMe drive but it is a cheap SSD with sufficient space to be used as a storage drive. Now for the first time the storage drive can be quickly searched... and seek times are instantaneous compared to a mechanical drive. The only problem is that most boards don't have a second NVMe socket... so it ended up in a mini PCIe adapter... which means it's running at SATA-3 speeds. The next motherboard will have two NVMe sockets and it will provide full speed access. NVMe drives should last >2x as long as a traditional mechanical drive... which in the long run saves time and money... while giving a huge performance boost (even if the drive is slow by NVMe standards). :-)

Suffered freezing issues

Bought 1TB and loaded windows 10 pro as clean install. Initially worked great, installed on MSI B550 pro mb with ryzen 9 proc. After about 2 weeks I started getting issues where the whole system would freeze as soon as windows started to load if I restarted it. I think I was eventually able to kind of solve this by enabling secure boot + TPM and switching the mb from auto detect for PCI gen to gen 3 only. The real resolution was to switch to a 1TB Firecuda for my main drive and I'm going to try and use this one as a secondary.

Super Fast NVMe

If you have not used an nvme drive for your pc, then you do not know what you are missing. With this Crucial drive, my computer boots up in literally just seconds and my computer operates incredibly fast.I used this for my first pc build, which is a gaming pc. 500gbs is more than enough to get you started for your operating system (windows 10 in my case) and even several games.Overall, I am very happy with it. I would not recommend using a harddrive for your operating system. It will be too slow. Although a basic SATA drive will work too, another benefit to NVMe drives is that they use zero cables. Just make sure you motherboard has a slot for it. My only complaint here is that, as the picture shows, this drive is half white and half blue.
