This will be my 3rd M.2 Crucial SSD Drive and as ALL of my past Micron/Crucial components rangin from RAM to SSDs to M.2s, the P3 does not disappoint. With games and programs and digital camera pictures/videos inflating almost as fast as our economy, the older 500gb HDDs are no longer cutting it. Some newer FPS will eat up almost 200GBs alone. Downloading them even over a Gig fiber connection is a PAIN, but the 2TB P3 is giving me ample space as a storage/game drive as it is a companion drive to a 1TB WD Black M.2 SSD (for the OS drive).The P3 is packaged like most other M.2 SSDs and Crucial, like always, include that tiny philips head screw. It never ceases to amaze me that this much storage can be packed something about the size of stick of gum (especially when you consider that there are 4TB monsters out there) and with the speeds they offer at that. Transferring about 500GBs from a external 1TB SSD drive took just under 40mins. Although it could've been a little faster as it was in the background while I was doing some other work on the computer and did not actually see when the transfer was complete. I have mentioned that cell phone pictures and videos have become ridiculous in size?... especially when you have an active kid and both parents always snapping pictures of... I'm glad to have the space. I would PAIN me to see how long it would take to off load that drive onto a platter disk ... on an older windows machine.Somewhere in the not too distant future, 2TB will as inconsequential as 2GB drive is today and maybe then that will be the base storage size for Apple/Samsung phones. But for now my home media server which is 12TB in a RAID 1 across HDDs is where a large portion of that 500GB will eventually migrate to (thankfully in the background). But 3TB of SSD on my primary machine gives me LOTS of breathing room for the time being. Seeing these small numbers like 1 and 2 TBs make me think of when 128MB HDDs were considered MASSIVE and "No one needs that much disk space". I'll think the same when petabytes come along.

A year later 1/4th of the speed.

I purchased a total of 6 of these drives a year ago. Used both Sabrent and ACASIS Thunderbolt Enclosures. At first I got 2600MBS speed on the ACASIS and about 1200MBS on the Sabrent.A year later I felt something strange is happening and 3 of the drives have dropped speeds in different low stages between 300MBS and 500MBS. I took those drives formated and tested them in new houses where other new drives perform at full speed. And this is always the outcome in all houses.I do know speeds on SSD will drop by time but one year with moderate use is by no means ok.I just purchased 3 more of these drives and am regretting the purchese knowing how short they will last. But I need them for a project now so that is how it is.Will NOT buy again.

Alright. There are better

Havnt quite got the speed and Performance id hoped as my new gaming tower's c:\. In all honesty it pushes crsates littld to no noticeable change than my 2 gen prior Sony evo ssd. Wasnt even an MVME. Still a workhorse in ny gaming pc. Ive probably git sone configs wrong and definitely need a more powerful GPU. anot not to mention that even though it may be latest gen, doesnt mean software will run at that PCIe gen speed. Wish i woukd have got an old gen Evo wirh slightylly staorage and a comparable read/write. First gaming huild in 15 years and already went rrom budget build utilizing old tower tower, mobo, 2 radeion 5500 GPUs to SLI(i kbiw its pointless now, but i missed the boat when it was big and know i can find a practical use for that piwer), old 750w power ... MoreHavnt quite got the speed and Performance id hoped as my new gaming tower's c:\. Anyone need ddr4 or ddr5 RAM? GOT a lot). And spent hundresds on fitting my room and desk out with so much RGB you'd think you were at a casino. i dont even game that much. Bright side still got a whole last gen pc i can build for machine learning so im not replaced in 5 years. For me it was tge learning experience. 4 months ive picked up soldering SMB, RFID hacking(Flip set flip set flip set), machine learning with dual edge TPU modules and one SBC sporting a rockchip at 11 tops. I hope to work with Ai or hack the API. Got a little off track. I can build anything about now. All self taught. Didnt even know about power a couple months back. 40 years old. Total change of career. Bo school, no degree, just drive, youtube, google dorking, and SOME Ai models

Not up to Crucial's standards

I have been a loyal fan of Crucial SSD's for years as I produce large image datasets for my work. This is my first time having a problem with any of their drives. It arrived not working with a fatal hardware error when I tried to format the disk. After filing for a warranty replacement with Crucial, I had to pay my own shipping to send the drive to them. I just received the replacement and it has the same fatal hardware error. This process has taken a month and I still do not have the extra TB of storage I need for my latest backup. I will be switching to Samsung SSDs from now on. Very disappointed with the quality control and customer service.

Solid Performance, Great Price

I recently had to consolidate my storage from 2 hard drives onto an nvme ssd and was looking to purchase a second 980 Pro. This drive is definitely not the fastest out there, only able to read at speeds around 4000mbps and write at 4800mbps. However, it still performs capably with moving 3TB worth of steam games without any hiccups. I use this drive strictly for my steam library and games load much quicker than before, and I haven’t had any issues. Overall, if you’re looking to get a large storage drive and don’t need Gen 5 nvme, super fast read/write speeds, and are trying to fit within a budget, this Crucial P3 should perform excellent if you’re upgrading from 2.5” ssds or any hard disk drive.

iMac 27in 5K 2014 SSD Upgraded Successfully!

I purchased this drive for my 2014 iMac 5K A1419 15,1 mod. I installed it in the fusion drive SSD slot using a Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME adapter. I knew full well that my drive speeds would not be anywhere near the top speeds that this drive is capable of, so I was quite pleased when I saw nearly 800mb/s read and write. Previously I was lucky to attain 95mb/s with the original 1TB HD with fusion drive. I spent more time backing up my original drive and formatting the new drive than I spent installing the new drive. I spent just under $300 in total to do this upgrade. I really love the iMac 27 inch 5K display……still and probably for at least 3 more years.
