My partner and I bought this for my mother for her 60th birthday and got to try it after her party. Not only does she love the container as a fan of cryptids and conspiracy-mysteries, but it is the best vodka she (and we) have ever had. Hands down, without a doubt, the cleanest and smoothest vodka we've ever had. I would like to see an unbiased comparison to other vodkas.Perhaps my opinion doesn't mean anything as I have grown up in the States, but my mother is Eastern-European and has had plenty of vodka growing up. We were all so impressed that we had to drink (not shoot) shots - almost so slowly that we were practically sipping. Mixing this vodka would probably yield awesome results but it is honestly so good that it becomes difficult to justify diluting it ... MoreMy partner and I bought this for my mother for her 60th birthday and got to try it after her party. Not only does she love the container as a fan of cryptids and conspiracy-mysteries, but it is the best vodka she (and we) have ever had. Performed okay in mixed drinks, nothing special about it. There weren’t any unique notes. It is slightly smoother than other vodkas, but only a hair above average. The bottle is the only thing that made this worth buying. Definitely won’t buy again. There are better vodkas out there. Pretty average.

This is a fantastic vodka. It's smooth, robust with a clean finish. No surprise notes, no funny aftertaste, Just incredibly smooth. I made a martini neat, one messy martini (only slightly dirty), and had it with my favorite bloody mary, Bloody Gerry, and it's delicious any way you serve it. Also the bottle makes for a good gift. Highly recommend.

Discovered this Vodka while watching a pod cast. Dan Akroy is compelling salesman...he is NOT misleading anyone when he uses the term "no throat needles" (some Vodkas burn going down) This is the first Vodka that I have ever enjoyed straight!! I cannot stress this enough...the term "creamy finish" is a fact. Yes, this is a rather pricey Vodka, but just like fine Wines in the upper price range, this is literally a "sipping Vodka", so I feel the increase in price over other Brands is well worth it. If I could, I would rate this 7 out of 5 stars.
Vodka is one of my go to drinks, in mixed drinks or shots I like it. Let’s just say my mom would do White Russians with a vodka that costs about $13 for 750ml and this costs about $52 for the same size and I didn’t know you were suppose to mix vodka I thought you just drank it alone out of a cup and I liked it. When I started going to the bar they had 8 or 9 different brands of vodka not flavors but brands, Russian, French, American among other countries of origin and I tried most if them. There have been many points where vodka is my go to drink so when I found out about this and it’s 12 awards I had to try it. So disgusting I gaged in the shot, I think it taste how rubbing alcohol smells, my friend says it tastes how paint thinner smells. So disgusting I gaged in the shot, I think it taste how rubbing alcohol smells, my friend says it tastes how paint thinner smells. I’ve had shots if 151 proof rum that is smoother and has a better taste than this. The closet alcohol I can compare this to is the grain alcohol that only became legal in my home state a couple years ago. I don’t know if this is an alcohol like wine, because it does have a cork, that if it sits too long it turns and the taste spoils but its not good. I say that because I bought another bottle because my friend wants the bottle, because it is a neat bottle, and figuring I could use it for Jell-O shots for a party and did a straight shot and it still tastes horrible but less like rubbing alcohol and more like the well vodka at the bar which costs about $5 a bottle. I’m not sure how I have done shots of liquor almost twice as strong as this and it’s smooth and enjoyable and no chaser and yet this it goes down and almost comes right back out because the flavor is that bad. It’s kinda funny that I’ve had vodka that costs and has a much better taste and is much more smooth. I’m curious to know the details of the “12 international gold medals” it claims to have won, if only to know what and how many brands of vodka did it beat and who was doing the judging. A lot of the vodkas I know and enjoy are 90 or 95 proof this is only 80 proof and that places it in the same group (if going solely by proof) as the $5 a bottle well vodka at the local bar if that’s the case it basically won an award for being the best vodka for mixed drinks like long islands where you don’t really taste the vodka.
This is the best vodka I've ever had. The clean, pure aroma and flavors will evolve in the glass. You have to be careful not to let it sneak up on you. By the way, no spirit anywhere in the world is "diamond filtered." Herkimer diamonds are not diamonds at all but simply a specific variety of quartz crystals. As such, their atomic structure is neutral and can't possibly have an effect on the flavor of anything. Never underestimate the power of marketing. That said, I repeat that this is the best vodka I've ever had. The number of empty bottles lining my bookcases will attest to that. Buy some.
Bought this as my buddy gave me a shot of it and I loved it. It's crisp, clear, and a perfect vodka to drink straight. I'm not a mixed drink guy. Most other vodkas burn going down, not this one, Dan Akroyd nailed it! No burn, no aftertaste, and without the additives NO hangovers! Seriously, I was drinking it without paying attention, when I finally gave it a look I saw I'd drank almost 1/2 the bottle and felt great. The next morning NO headaches, no sickness, no alcohol aftermath. Then there's the bottle...where else can you get a bottle that you'll want to put in a glass case after you finish it (and you'll finish it, it won't sit around long). The only downside is when anybody sees this they immediately want a shot and they always ask for the empty bottle...nope, ... MoreBought this as my buddy gave me a shot of it and I loved it. I have to admit that I bought this vodka for the cool bottle. Great colors. I also like the marketing using a “New Age” approach with an almost spiritual mystical presence. Don’t knock it. Much of the tasting experience is psychological. I am also a fan of Dan Aykroyd so this was a natural buy for me.But the biggest surprise was the vodka itself. Wow it has a peppery kick to the wheat base. It is crisp and dry, offering an alternative to the sweeter wheat based vodkas. It definitely is not a neutral spirit. It has character, that’s for sure. But that’s what I like in a vodka. So, buy it for the bottle. But be surprised by the vodka!
Usually gimmicks compensate for deficits, and often are associated with downright terrible products. I was surprised this was good and am still shocked that it was great. The excessive filtration is worth it. Seems like a cheap part of a producer's process that they'd do more of it with vodkas in general, but the vast majority of vodka producers are only too happy to produce rubbing alcohol with a hint of Elmer's glue bouquet. No idea if the Herkimer diamonds gimmick actually adds anything to the extremely clean finish ( the multiple filtrations should do), but I'll give Mr Aykroyd a lot of rope on this one as he has produced a surprisingly good product, especially in this price range. The taste has a fair amount of subtlety to it and a slight hint of sweetness ... MoreUsually gimmicks compensate for deficits, and often are associated with downright terrible products. But if you want an actual clean drinkable vodka that needs nothing more than rocks (if you don't want to drink it neat), This is an excellent choice for the price. This review only refers to the Aurora.
No rot-gut here. Very smooth and not overly bitter. Does not have that overly strong Russian taste associated with most vodkas. Light and crisp. Great with cokes, or perfect as shots. Worth the price for quality and smoothness. As you mature, you can’t handle Rot-gut liquor anymore. Save your stomach from excessive food poisonings. Live long and prosper.
