I purchased this oven about 3 years ago from a different website. I always wanted an air fryer and I thought this brand was reputable. I read the reviews and all positive reviews outweighed the negative, I also thought that some reviews were over exaggerated in how bad it could be. I will go ahead and list the pros and cons but before I do, one of the biggest issue is that the oven cut off and stopped working after only 1 year and a half. Pros It decently fries food but the convention oven/baking was what I liked best for pizza, since we do not have a proper stove oven. So, after one year I had no idea what the exact temp was set at The fryer isnt as good as a $40 air fryer you can buy at target. Even though this was an all in one toaster oven, I ended up with nothing in the end and experienced a better air fryer that was way cheaper. The oven began turning off every now and then or not turning on at all, to the point it never turned on again I used the oven for only a year, We have cheaper ovens that have lasted 10 years but we wanted to upgrade and get an air fryer. I really regret buying this. Not easy to clean because apparently the lettering can rub off. I never really cleaned that part before but I think other folks who used it simply were turning the knob and the lettering began to RUB off not fade but literally wipe clean lol

This was only after using it for about 8 months. The company remedied the situation, and we received the TOA-70 model in exchange as we were still within the 3 year warranty period. The new one seems built to last a little more, but I've only used it once so far. The only two changes we noticed between the models were that the heaters in the newer model appear to be covered by some metal plating, which I assume makes them easier to clean (?), and there is an additional grilling plate alongside the air fryer rack, regular toasting rack, and baking tray. The controls on ... MoreOurs was a wedding gift, which was the thing I was most excited for. I will admit I've hardly used the air fryer feature, but the rest has been well used. Make sure to clean the appliance soon after use to protect from excess grease. I've been very pleased with it. I joke that if there's ever a house fire, I'd go back to save the toaster oven.

This is a stylish appliance with so much versatility. After much research I selected this combo oven. I especially like the convection bake feature and use it most frequently along with the air fryer option. I am happy overall. My biggest disappointment is the air fryer function. It works ok, but doesn't crisp as well as a stand alone air fryer appliance. It doesn't seem to get quite hot enough but is adequate. Like other reviewers the dial knob timer is a little annoying because you can't precisely select minutes as they are marked in increments of 10. Not a deal breaker. The problem occurred a mere 2 months after purchase when one of the knobs wouldn't turn and stay in place for the convection bake/air fry setting. Those 2 are my favorite settings. I contacted cuisinart and they were very responsive and are taking care of the problem. I am extremely satisfied with their customer service and problem resolution but am dismayed that my appliance broke after only 2 months. I give it 4 stars because of longevity and air fryer function not being the best. Overall I use this appliance very frequently and am satisfied with it.

I have used the air fryer but found that it does not cook things like broccoli and brussels sprouts all the way through, which means it either burns the outsides or is hard in the middle. As a result, I need to come in mid-way to adjust the settings to ensure it cooks adequately. If I am going to have to do that, I would rather cook on a stove top where I am able to make larger portions. Another thing: this is large enough to cook maybe two vegetable servings, which is not ideal for a family of four. I primarily use it to reheat frozen foods like chicken nuggets, and I have to adjust the temperature down from 425 to 350 degrees in order to get comparative cooking. I gave one star more because of the fact that this is much more energy efficient than using my entire ... MoreI have used the air fryer but found that it does not cook things like broccoli and brussels sprouts all the way through, which means it either burns the outsides or is hard in the middle. I gave one star more because of the fact that this is much more energy efficient than using my entire viking oven to heat up meals for the kids. So it definitely has its uses. It is also easy to keep clean. One time I did have the timer get stuck and didn't know it until hours later; so it ran for about 90 minutes which is scary. So there is a mechanical defect to be wary of. For this reason I cannot recommend it. On the other hand, I doubt most products in this price range are not without similar defects and challenges.

It's good depending on what you want to make

I wanted to use this Cuisinart toaster oven/air fryer instead of a traditional oven since I only make small portions. I am disappointed with how pastries and breads are always over-done on the outside regardless of temperature settings, preheating, not preheating. baking time, or tray position. I burned many pastries before throwing in the towel on them altogether. It works well for frozen/fresh meats and veggies, especially the air fryer setting. It heats up quickly and loses heat just as fast when turned off. When the timer goes off, so does the toaster oven. The exterior of the unit does get hot like every other one I have used. I regret not getting the digital model. Always wipe down the interior of the unit with a damp cloth after every use or any left over remnants will smoke and set off the fire alarm. I bought an extra baking pan with greater depth for casseroles and such as well as a muffin pan since it only came with the baking sheet and air fryer basket. Cuisinart makes them and I just waited til I found them on sale at target. Overall a good toaster oven but doesn't fully meet my baking needs.

Need to adjust recipes

When my Breville toaster oven's fan stopped working, I was planning on getting another Breville. The one I wanted costs almost $400 so I was waiting for a sale. Then I saw BB&Y offer this on sale for 40% off. I saw that it was in the "recommended" group by Consumer Reports. It didn't offer all the functions of the Breville, but the price was too good to pass up. In addition, we have very little counter space, and this model, having the controls above the oven rather than next to it, would reclaim needed work space. The first toast I made, set to the moderate position, came out too dark. When I baked my first recipe, I could see that it was done well before the timer automatically turned off the heat. I bought an oven thermometer at BB&Y and saw the temperature was 50 to 75 degrees higher than the dial's setting. I filled out a form on the Cuisinart website and received a very quick reply. I was told that toaster ovens initially go higher than the set temperature, but then cool down to the proper one. I was advised to give the oven lots of ventilation space. I gave it more space, but that resulted in a small change in oven temperature...maybe 25 degrees lower.I also read quite a few reviews, on various websites, ranging from 1 to 5 stars. Many mentioned the high temperatures. Many of the low ratings said that was the reason the oven was going to be returned. The high ratings, which also mentioned the high temperature, said that once you learn to adjust temperature settings and cooking times, the oven did a great job.I have decided to follow the advice about adjusting recipes. The price was too good to ignore, we have more counter top work space, and the three year warranty beats most other manufacturers (unless you can afford the Wolf for $750!)

Because of the built in fan on all air fryers they will get messy so you will need to clean and wipe down. Also if you read owners manual it gives you tips and cooking times suggestions. As for those that stop working after also in the owners manual it tells you how far it needs to be from counter it blows out hot air so it might of over heated. It’s always a great idea to read everything and follow instructions. I love my air air fryer!!!!

Pro Tips from Pro Chef=Great Little Oven

I’m a professional chef. I sold everything to live on a boat. I replaced the alcohol stove on the small sailboat with this. It’s small and fit into the tiny space now vacant from the alcohol stove. Having worked professionally as a chef, here are my tips. 1) Due to the size, turn the heat down 25 degrees. It’s a small oven. It heats up quickly. Thus lowering heat will help alleviate any burning issues others noted. Food can fully cooking inside before burning outside. So recipes that called for 350 went down to 325. I IMMEDIATELY saw a marked improvement. 2) Throw away the sheet pan included. This only compounds the burning issue making food burnt on bottom and raw on top. Metal cooks differently than glass, which cooks differently than say a Dutch oven. Metal heats up quickly and again contributed to overcooking issues. I used my Le Creuset stoneware, placed on top of the metal wire rack, and immediately saw a marked improvement in overall cooking. Pastry puffs came out puffy vs flat when using sheet pan. 3) Only use the bottom rack. Anything on the high rack also contributes to burning. It’s a great little oven with a few tweaks. Just wish the cord was a little longer but overall pretty happy with this. It’s literally the only oven I’m using in my boat. I’ve baked pastry puffs for breakfast, grilled cheese instead of on a burner, made pizza bread, and have been very please after making a few tweaks.

Very happy so far.

So far after about a month of pretty heavy use I'm very happy with the purchase, even got it on sale. I've seen complaints about it overcooking but if they took 5 minutes to read the manual it tells you the directions on the bags of what you want to cook need to be lowered per what the manual tells you, and that your mileage may vary. What I've found has been working for me is 75 degrees less and 10 minutes less seems to be the sweet spot for both baking and air frying. I also like to pre-heat for about 5 minutes and has worked great. The toaster feature I didn't think was a big deal until I tried it and have never had toast so evenly done. My toaster was going out and just threw it in the trash, one less thing on my counter. One person mentioned the timer is off ... MoreSo far after about a month of pretty heavy use I'm very happy with the purchase, even got it on sale. The only thing I don't like about it is if you're trying to get minutes in between the 10s, not really all that...useful. So if you need 7 minutes, it's about a guess where that's at so you're better off using a digital timer. My old oven from Cuisineart had the crumb tray come out the back which I thought was always stupid, this one comes out the front and I really appreciate that.Overall, outside I don't like the analog timer that's tied to the heating, it's pretty great.

broken in 13 months, timer not accurate enough

Overall the unit is great. Love the combined functions of the air fryer, baking and toasting in one unit. There are two different timers on this unit. One for toasting the other for air frying/baking. Both are the same type of timer that you twist clockwise and tick, tick, tick, tick until it bings when it's done. 1) For toasting, if you set it to Light colored toast and you're happy with the outcome, if you put in another piece of toast at the same setting it comes out darker. So the unit doesn't take into account that it's already warm and doesn't adjust the toasting time. That's up to you. 2) Say you want to air fry for 7 minutes. Since the timer isn't digital you can get a consistent 7 minute fry. So be prepared to babysit your food. 3) The switch on the door ... MoreOverall the unit is great. Lots of information about this problem, and if you're handy, how to repair it. We've only had our unit a little over a year and the switch seems to already need replacement. There's a 3 year warranty on the unit, so I just filled out my request and hope that Cuisinart honors it. We used to use this appliance a lot. Perhaps a newer version will use a higher quality switch and change to a digital timer and better ambient temperature calculations to lead to better outcomes. Save your receipt and register your product in case yours has a problem too.
