Daiwa TD Black Rod Beowulf 601XHFS

(63 reviews)

The Daiwa 20 TD Black Beowulf 6' Spin Rod from the 20 Team Daiwa BLACK range is the best yet, incorporating Daiwa's Next Gen. X45 blank technology. Utilised in the bottom half of each rod blank, Next Gen. X45 increases torsional stiffness whilst reducing overall blank diameter and physical weight. The result of this is a rod that resists the twisting forces which are generated through casting and working lures, meaning every inch you put in, you get out twofold. Rods featuring Next Gen. X45 are more responsive, cast further, and are more sensitive than rods without, and this is certainly no exception with 20 Team Daiwa BLACK. As has become a staple of Daiwa rods in this price point, HVF Nanoplus graphite is used. HVF or High Volume Fibre is a densely populated graphite sheet, and Nanoplus resin technology allows Daiwa engineers to precisely monitor and maintain precise resin control, allowing them to make not only a lighter weight rod blank, but a much stronger blank as well.

I recently bought another Daiwa TD Black series rod the other day as Daiwa thru Freddy's were offering a considerable discount on this range - to be honest, I now have 4 Blacks ranging from baitcaster to 3 piece spin/travel outfit to now a short stumpy spin rod called a Swamp Donkey...All in All: excellent construction & equipment in a well made outfit. And, when offering a considerable saving it's hard not to pick up a spare!

Beautiful rod at a great price

This is a beautiful rod at a great price. If not for Freddys fantastic pricing I would have purchased a TD Hyper. My order was processed and shipped the day after placing my order and the free shipping arrived in a timely manner. I will definately purchase from Freddys again.

Really nice light rod. I use it for soft plastics in Port Phillip Bay. Pinkies, Flatties etc. Really good components. Only issue I have is the front fore grip is not foam. It is made of hard, smooth plastic and after fishing for a few hours make my forefinger a bit sore. I might put some tennis racket grip on that bit. The fore grip of my Atomic Arrowz rod is more comfortable.

Great all round casting rod
4 July 2021

I had the previous version of this rod and it was seriously the best rod I've ever had, so when I broke it pulling in long tail tuna chased by sharks, I went out and bought this one the next day. Its spectacular for casting slugs and small to medium stickbaits and I've caught tuna, mackerel, kingfish and mahi mahi easily. I also used it float lining for snapper and mackerel, and jigging for reefies. Paired with Daiwa TD Sol 6000, its a fantastic combo.

Great lightweight whiting rod with power to spare!
14 October 2021

A highly sensitive, very lightweight rod I chose after a great deal of looking and procrastinating to use for whiting fishing off a boat. It has heaps of ability to load up and land a bigger fish if the unexpected happens. I coupled it with a Shimano Vanford 3000 and you can hardly feel the weight of the whole setup, it balances really well. Highly recommended.

My TD black

A great rod. I couldn’t believe how much lighter a rod could be compared to my old one. BCF also priced matched. The staff there are always really helpful and friendly. A far cry from the stereotypical big chain staff who don’t care.

Nice sales Discount

Great rod for flicking plastics for some bread and butter estuary fishing. So far it’s been great fun for Flatties, Bream, Whiting and surprisingly I’ve had 6 decent mangrove jacks so far this season. You will love how light this rod is and also how great the bite feels. Get one!

Ok for single use

This rod casts superbly, which is just as well because you'll only get a day or so of use out of it before it breaks as you're casting it.When mine broke after a few days of use I thought it was an anomaly. Just one of those things that happens. But I had two so I wasn't worried. My second one broke after a few hours of use.I switched to a Shimano Catana for a week or so and that was so much better. The ability to cast a 4 gram lure and not have your rod break is highly underrated. The Daiwa was worse than useless because it looks like it will work when in fact it won't. You're better of with a handline. Get any other brand of rod instead.I know graphite rods aren't the toughest rods on the market but I've used them for years and had no trouble. For $199 each I'd ... MoreThis rod casts superbly, which is just as well because you'll only get a day or so of use out of it before it breaks as you're casting it.When mine broke after a few days of use I thought it was an anomaly. I haven’t get a chance to use it yet but, I felt really good with this rod which was on special that made feel even better.Strongly recommend!!

Geelong Nth best BCF by far, great service!I'm super happy with my new TD Scratchy, well worth the retail price ( got this on sale for $139 so even better value) matched with a TD Freams 2500, rod is super light and casts like a bullet and has a beautiful action.
