I purchased this pack for commuting via bike, so far it serves me well. I needed a pack with a place to store a laptop, inclusion of sternum straps was critical. The sternum straps are able to slide along a portion of the shoulder straps, a great feature to maximize comfort but also a little bit of a minor annoyance as they occasionally slide. The pockets are roomy. The "pencil pocket" is a bit large for pencils, qt size bag fixes that. So far there's been plenty of space and the pack has proven to be durable when I've jam packed it full of books, clothes and groceries. I'd buy it again.

This is a fantastic backpack for those who are looking for a bag that will fit the things you may or may not need when riding. For example, when riding I will carry a bottle of water or two, some snacks (trail mix/clif bar), my car keys, wallet, an extra pair of gloves, some hand warmers, a portable battery charger, my low light goggle lens. In the main compartment I keep my Burton AK BK Lite Down Jacket, which fits very nicely and is great to have in case it gets too cold out. If it gets too hot, I can strip layers and store them instead of running all the way back to the hotel or car or what have you. While I was snowboarding at Vail, I ended up losing my bearings and got a little bit lost. So I had to walk about a mile with my board. Luckily for me I just strapped it to the backpack and walked back to the hotel, which was super convenient. I also took two snowboards with me to Vail, and when I picked them both up from the snowboard valet area, I threw one in the backpack straps and carried the other. It's also a very stylish backpack and perfect for the mountain in my eyes. I wouldn't use it for something like school work, as it's a bit small for books. It may be a good travel backpack for a carry on item as long as you're packing smaller things. The internal pockets could use a little bit of improvement and a little bit bigger size with maybe some stretch lining instead of the non stretch fabric used right now. That's my only complaint.

Got it as a gift for my wife. Great for family ski days on-piste; not sure about backcountry. Probably fine, but if you're the kind of person who prefers a water bladders (HydroPak, CamelBack, etc) the pass-through on this pack is centrally-located in the middle of the space between shoulder straps. Means that your tube is exposed which can lead to freezing. I like my Poacher a little better because the tube exits into my left shoulder strap, so it's protected.

Perfect backpack for backcountry/off piste skiing. Love the many pockets and I always felt that my skis were held securely in place. I like the hard back, esp right behind the laptop section because it makes for pulling and putting my laptop back in after traveling easy. Wish the zippers in the large section went all the way down but they go down fairly far.
Nice bag. Well built and seems durable. Prefer the MissionPro for my snowboard carry. Shoulder straps and waist band more minimal on this pack - less comfortable and took some adjustment to prevent shifting. Plan to use for my trail bag when snowshoeing. Good capacity for carrying lunch, layers, and dog gear. Breast Cancer awareness print is lovely and pleased to have a woman-specific fitted pack.
First of all my fault for buying this without checking if it had an insulated hydration sleeve. However, my number one gripe is that while it claims to have a hydration sleeve and you can put a bladder in, there's no good way to access the drinking tube. You have to simply put it through the main compartment which means the zippers can loosen and let snow in. And even once you bring it out the tube just hangs since there are no clips. Do yourself a favor and buy a bag with insulated hydration support. Atleast then you get a proper tubing system.Beyond that the bag is super flat with only two pockets. I just didn't feel like I could organize my gear very well.Going to try the mission pro 18L next. Wish me luck.
This pack is perfect for skiing and packing. It fits snug on lifts and is secure with skis attached. I even ride large powder skis that are 104 underfoot and it's a perfect fit! There's surprisingly more than enough space and pockets inside the pack too. It's a wonderful find and a great purchase. Great quality and wonderful pricing! 😊
I absolutely love this pack. I love the look and style - I bought it in the green / camel. It has been my trusty companion through all conditions (rain, mud, snow) and all sorts of mountain adventures - mountain biking, snowboarding, hiking, camping. I don't know if it claims to be waterproof, but even on the days I've worn it in torrential downpours it's kept the contents inside dry, for the most part. It's also completely machine washable (hang dry). I wear it with a 2 liter hydration pack, and it still has plenty of room to hold enough gear for any day-long, maybe even multi-day, adventure or activity. It's comfortable on hikes and uphill MTB climbing. I haven't had a chance to use the snowboard/ski carrying feature yet - I have tested the straps on my board to ... MoreI absolutely love this pack. I've owned this pack for 2 years and used the heck out of it and it still looks good as new. My ONLY complaint is I wish it had cup holder pockets on the side. Besides that, it is overall just an awesome pack at a great price.
This backpack is made well but what Dakine doesn't really show you is there is not specific slots for the probe and shovel handle. They are slots for like a pen and pencil. Thats about all you can put in them. If you look closely at the photo with the shovel handle and probe, you can see that they stick up past the zippered spot which interferes with the goggle pocket. So your goggles will not be able to be in there or just get scratched when you have a shovel and probe in that stupid front pocket. Also the shovel and probe pocket doesn't have a draining point so if they are wet after use it will soak everything in the bag. I understand that is is a small bag for minimal items but it certainly is not a day "snowpack" or a skiing bag of any kind. I understand that is is a small bag for minimal items but it certainly is not a day "snowpack" or a skiing bag of any kind. This bag would not do anything good with avalanche gear and any sort of snow gear. I think that this bag would be good for hiking when you need to carry a water bottle, snacks, a small coat, and things like that. I would love to return this because Dakine does not explain what you actually are getting and they are hiding the truth a little with their description and photos. But I can't return it with out paying for the shipping back which is so ridiculous and too pricy. So thank you Dakine... it looks like I am stuck with a bag that I have no use for. Maybe my little sister will want it to hike with and then maybe I will have her make a review. So I give it a 1 star review for the explanation and the set up of the bag.
Great little backpack, very compact but still a lot of features for organizing stuff. Not too many dangly straps which is good for chairlift. Like the small size, fits great for small lady. Straps and back are very stiff and first and need a lot of breaking in to be comfy. Overall seems nice for price, like the black and teal combo very sharp. Seems like high quality construction and material, feels like it will be durable and sturdy. Only complaint is im not seeing a poke-through for camel back straw but oh well, there is a tiny pouch pocket at top that if cut could be used as a poke through, and straps do have a straw-holder strap so maybe that can work.
