I ordered two pair of bull run moc toe boots in two different colors. I liked the appearance of both and had a hard time deciding which color was right for me. What made my decision more difficult with the inconsistencies in the boots. The color I like the least fit my foot much better, but was clearly made of much thinner leather. The boot I liked the most was a much bigger boot, even though it was the same size. The boot was 1/4 wider overall, much roomier inside (too big), but was clearly made of better, thicker leather. I understand the idea of “handmade boots” but with they were more consistent.

Im medium happy with this pair. The fit runs a bit big- i wear 10-10.5 in most boot brands and got these in a 10, wish I had gotten a 9.5 now that these are broke in.The break in wasn’t noticeably bad, It went easier than most leather boots ive owned.They do a good job of protecting my feet, but Ive snapped and replaced the laces already, and worn to the steel toe on one boot already too.The foot itself is very comfortable, but the upper part never really sits comfortably even with thick socks.Id buy these again, but different height and smaller.

I’m slowly losing my confidence in danner. I’ve owned 4 pairs of bull run mock toe. Ever pair seems to be getting worse. First pair were great 2nd the sole wore away very fast and stitching tore. 3rd and 4th pairs the soles cracked at the tread patters and one separated from the seem at the sole. These boots were all under a year old! It cost just as much to resold these as a new pair. The vicious boots were comfortable as well but hold moisture stay wet and smell horrible. Those boots are only 4 months old!!!!

Ok this might but kinda long i don't think anyone knows what true to size means, on The brannock device im a 10.5 on the dot with narrow feet and but my redwings, nikes, Converse and basically all shoes im a 9 and my pf flyers im a 10 but i like a tighter fitting shoe maybe like 1/4 of freespace with normal cotton socks and these fit just like how i wanted them and i kinda took the chance with this size because i had an 8.5 with the danner rats and they were just slightly to short. I guess bottom line if you want heavy duty boots these are not it but for looking good and moving around alot or just not really caring if they will last because its a great price for a boot thats made in the states good for it. ps i know there is shims in the boot to give arch support which i think its neat because boots with heels do that but people complaining about it comming out of the soft outsole over time, just get pliers and pull that baby out you dont need it alot of moc toe boots dont even have is (thats what im gonna do if it happens )

I usually wear superfeet green insoles in all my boots but had to use the superfeet carbons instead just due to the top of foot tighteness. After 2 weeks of wear at work they finally broke in enough that I could switch to my usual insoles. Comfort is pretty good. Use your own insoles if you have picky feet as there is basically no arch support. With my insoles I had no impact related pain nor plantar fasciitis pain. My biggest gripe however is the quality of the leather. I use these as work boots which is how they are marketed, I work distribution in a post office. The shoes look great and treatment is awesome, but I was disappointed in the consistency and comfort. First off, the shoes are not very comfortable. It does not offer much in the arch support department. I could not see myself wearing these all day and be on my feet. The boots are beautiful, except there was a significant difference in material of the tongue. The right shoe has thick stiff leather material the left shoe tongue material was much thinner and flimsy. I assumed this was manufacturing error and I was going to exchange, but I couldn’t be bothered shipping them back and wait another couple weeks. Unlike the Redwings I've typically worn, the seams on these boots will let water in faster should you find yourself spraying them off with a hose or walking through a puddle. Perhaps there's something to put on the seams to mitigate this, but out of the box it's something to be aware of.Finally, you'll have to work on getting the lace placement correct for ideal comfort. It's taken a bit to figure out just how loose to leave the toe box area of the laces vs the shin. I've found I've had to leave it a bit loose all around in order to prevent a pinch when leaning forward. This means the boot can feel less supportive and secure; however, as the boot has broken in I've been able to adjust a bit and get a tighter lacing all around.In general, after a month of use, I'm impressed with the way the leather has held up. The stitching is in place, the soles fine. Looking forward to seeing what 6 months does.
This is my third pair of Danners and I absolutely love the boot besides one major flaw. I ordered my first pair as a width size (D) “narrow” size 11 and they were way too small. No big deal, I’ll just get another pair wider and bigger, right? Well after getting this pair at size 11.5 and width (EE) “wide” the sole is the exact same width. I placed the width (D) on top of the width (EE) and they’re exactly the same. Obviously the length is a half inch longer but why isn’t the shoe wider also..? Really wish I wouldn’t have ordered another pair but I was under the impression the sole would be wider.

My issue is with an untreated seam inside the boot near the base of the tongue where there’s a small flap of fabric, about 1/4”. To lay flat that flap must point up toward the opening of the boot (where your foot enters the boot) But, when I slide my foot into the boot that small flap folds over and points toward the toe. It doesn’t sound like much but it’s incredibly uncomfortable. To fold the flap back to lay flat I have to squeeze my finger down into the boot. Once the flap is flipped over it lays flat and it’s fine. I feel this is a bit too inconvenient to have to do every time I want to don my boots. These were purchased for construction work, as a work boot. We were happy to pay an American Co for a product made in the US.The break in was very minimal. They run pretty true to size, maybe slightly on the bigger side.However…they soles were completely trashed by 6 months of hard work.So far Danner is NOT honoring their “365 day warranty.”They are saying “normal wear & tear” is not covered under the warranty.I would agree if these boots were a couple years old.We are now on month 8 & water comes into the boot through the soles that are trashed.These have been used for construction work 5 to 6 days a week since being purchased.I would think even the soles should last a year.At just shy of $300 I am not sure the should be considered “unrelenting standards.”
