Tod intends to clear his brother War's name, since he was accused of having initiated the apocalypse early.

Cards on the table: I love the first Darksiders. It's a great zelda-inspired game that elevates the combat to something closer to God of War or Devil May Cry. It isn't without its flaws, but given the noticeably-smaller budget than games in its class, it does a bangup job.As for Darksiders II, the scope has increased compared to the first game. This (mostly) leads to a bigger, better world with a lot of interesting things in it. My only major gripe was the hamfisted inclusion of a loot system. It needlessly slows the game down without adding anything of substance or value.Without the gear system, this would be a top-tier game worthy of recommendation to basically anyone. As it stands, it's an interesting continuation of the franchise for anyone who played the ... MoreCards on the table: I love the first Darksiders. Of course, I received this game quickly and as advertised. I have beaten the original Darksiders twice (once on the Xbox 360 and again on the PS3), but I never got a chance to play this sequel until now. It is a little different and has more RPG elements than the first. Now, I'm not a huge RPG fan, but I am thoroughly enjoying this game! I look forward to completing it, so I can dive into part 3 in the series and continue the story.

Darksiders II: The Deathfinitive Edition is really out there for those who have not played it and hardcore fans of the series. I played through this originally on the Xbox 360, and I'd consider myself a big fan of the series. If you have already played this and are not the type to play through games multiple times, you could pass. For new gamers, I'm giving it a 4 as a whole. Don't expect mind blowing next gen graphics. It's looks good, but obviously a remaster. It certainly looks cleaner and the lighting looks nice, but nothing like some of the work done on other remastered games this generation. The gameplay is a bit faster but response can dip when the visual effects get under a heavy load. Those new to the series that like Zelda and God of War games will find a ... MoreDarksiders II: The Deathfinitive Edition is really out there for those who have not played it and hardcore fans of the series. Those new to the series that like Zelda and God of War games will find a nice mix of the two here with some light RPG elements and unlockables that game access to new areas. Also, it seems like an odd release unless they are gauging interest in a sequel...so if you want to see more Darksiders, you may want to support this release and throw some money at it. There's a lot of fun to be had here.

This took a complete step in the right direction, I loved the strong rps elements of collecting armor and weapons. Death's agile fighting style is so unique, i'm just afraid that they may stick to this agile fighting style with the last 2 riders. With war he was much slower but powerful. Although inexperienced it rarely showed. Death is the eldest of the four and it really shows as you see his relations with the NPC's. My only wish is that this was longer because the farther i got the more i wanted. I should've went after the last few side quests i had left, i'm sure I would've got a sweet weapon from one of the Makers. The amount of secondary weapons really effect your playstyle, from having slow heavy weapons i.e the hammer and broadsword to having fast weapons ... MoreThis took a complete step in the right direction, I loved the strong rps elements of collecting armor and weapons. I should've went after the last few side quests i had left, i'm sure I would've got a sweet weapon from one of the Makers. The amount of secondary weapons really effect your playstyle, from having slow heavy weapons i.e the hammer and broadsword to having fast weapons like the gauntlets and tiger claws. What they fast lack in power they make up for in critical damage and elemental damage. I love this game so much, replay value is pretty low. Only reason why is because you can do all the secondary quests right before the final battle. Not to say that it's a terrible game but there's nothing new on a harder setting. It's best to play this game to the fullest that way you have no regrets.
I have played the 1st one and still in the middle of it and played this one also. Compelling story, controls seem pretty easy. A hack and slash God of War type epic, level up system. Puzzles and challenges sometimes dont know what to do or execute in some instances, but Well executed, vibrant, easy flow, you have your spells and combo system. Im glad the 3rd installment is coming, and Ill be sure to get it. Totally worth the money foe this item, glad its brought to PS4 to enjoy the game all over again and refresh your nostalgia if you are into these type of games.
I initially played Darksiders 2 on Wii U back around the launch of Wii U. Back then, I thought the game looked great despite having less foliage then the 360 and PS3 versions, I thought it played great, and I thought ran well enough. However, the Wii U version missed most of the DLC. The Switch version has all of the DLC, looks better across the board, and has a much more stable framerate. While the Switch version isn't as good as the remastered version other platforms, it's hands down better then all of the non remastered versions. And, because it's on Switch, you can play it portably which is a big deal for me. I highly recommend it.
I use my switch in portable mode 90%+ of the time. There are some games I worry about on the small form factor screen, but Darksiders II works well. This game series is one of my favorites. The game is very narrative driven, with RPG components, a dark theme and art assets based upon the work and design by comic artist Joe Mad.If you’re looking for something that played like Ocarina of Time, or the Soul Reaver series as a narrative driven action RPG with lite leveling and upgrade components, give this series a try. They look great on the Switch and I’m glad to have bought them again and being able to play them on the go.
It's not a heavy Role-Playing Game (RPG), but it's enough to keep the gamer busy. There are some obstacles that may take a few times to get through, not because of the game play itself, but learning the controls to accomplish those scenes. There are some scenes where you'd have to run sideways, along the wall, to avoid falling into a pit. You're able to choose which type of weapon you'll use based on the weapons you picked up after killing enemies. You're able to use two different weapons and utilize both in combination or on its own. It's a basic RPG where the map is pretty straight forward. I've not come across a level where I had to unlock a door by first finding characters that hold pieces of the codes and are in different sections of the map. I've not come across a level where you'd need a guide book just to figure out, where on the map you'll need to visit first before trying to complete the map section you're currently stuck in. It's a pretty basic RPG setup.
Was expecting this game to be a bit more like the first but they almost appear to not be related. This game's combat is much more fluid and you've got a few more types of secondary weapons to use so you've got more of your own choice but this is still limited because you're mainly going to use your scythes as they're quick and strong and the secondary weapons split really only into heavy or melee. Death has a great personality as well as the side characters. Environments are varied gorgeous and the music really fits the mood. The puzzles in this game aren't difficult but they're still clever and concepts are introduced slowly so you're not thrown in over your head. Also they're plenty of side missions you can go back an do even after you finish the main quest. This game uses a loot system for equipment so your character will be more or less unique compared to anyone else. Personally I don't like loot systems but for each his own, it feels more like a weak reason to continue playing just to keep getting minutely stronger equipment. Around 18 hours in I'd already found an equipment combo that kept healing me over and over in combat so it killed the difficulty.
THQ is doing an awesome job with porting these great titles over. Darksiders 1 for the Switch was a good port, but I'll admit that some of the control were lacking just a little. Mostly the aiming for that matter. However Darksiders 2 is great all the way around. It looks fantastic, it runs very well, the controls feel good and the action and story are pretty solid. Very happy I picked this up. Definitely worth $30, even though it's been out for many years now. If you see it, get it!
