Dead Island has amazing, next level gore physics; the first of its kind.The story is plausible for a zombie apocalypse story but pretty mid and stale; like the previous titles.The graphics alone are jaw dropping; unless you look at the ocean then it looks like a game straight from the PS2.The gameplay is fun and yes repetitive at times but there’s always something to kill or somewhere to investigate.The game should take you between 20-30 hours to complete if you take your time and explore. This game took along time coming, since the first. But for me it was worth the wait. All I can say is fun fun fun. This is the sort of game you can just past the time away and have fun doing it. Few brain teasers to do whilst doing the quests but not that difficult. Completed as one character and now doing again with a different character. The graphics are outstanding and story line is not bad.Characters could do with better speech, but all in all a cracking game. Roll on Dead Island 3.

Dead Island 2 came out 4/21/23 so I’m not sure why there’s reviews from it from 8 years ago. Seems like people were hating on a game that wasn’t even out yet! But it’s amazing! I loved the first dead island games as well! They weren’t what most expected them to be. But they were fun! They kept you entertained! This new game is amazing ! It keeps you wanting to play more to reach new levels to unlock certain weapons or see the different abilities you have. As well as seeing all the new zombies while you level up! It’s a fun game to play, it sucks it’s only a 1-3 co-op I wish it was 1-4 like their old ones but even playing alone is still fun as well!

Each of the characters has their own customizable skill trees andFury abilities which are improved as experience is gained by completing missions and killing enemies. The easily avoidable and boring plot involves the group of four survivors attempting to find a cure, escape the island, and help as many survivors as they can on their way. The mission structure is pretty basic. Groups of survivors that have holed-up for safety on the island assign the player (or players) tasks such as gathering items, travelling to certain locations, or escorting a NPC to safety. The mediocre voice acting isnt helped by the lack of depth in the story. Despite competent character designs, animations are jarringly robotic and flat out ugly at times. That said, the very large, open world of the island is gorgeous with beautiful landscapes and realistic road and building layouts. Right from the start players are introduced to the post-apocalypticnecessity of scrounging for items and money in luggage and closets.Every day tools like hammers, paddles and bats are utilized as weapons while other found items can be appended to weaponry to change their properties and add damage, for example: a bat with nails or electrified machete. Weapon modifications require a work bench, money, a recipe (which can be found or earned by completing missions) and the necessary ingredients (i.e. items) which can be found scattered around the island inside trash bins, computers and other nooks and crannies. Its similar to the weapon system inDead Rising but lends to the feeling of realism as the player is desperate for anything to fight with rather than grounded in a mall with a humorous selection of weaponry. Throughout the game the weapons and the modifications become more interesting which makes the effort put in to find money and items rewarding. That said, the speed at which weapons degrade is believably fast and, of course, requires money to repair. The game fails to introduce the player to the weapon degradation system and an uninformed player may fight with dulled blade or a broken bat for a long time before realizing that they need to change weapons. Its a good thing that the inventory size allowed is large and switching weapons is fairly simple. Dismemberingzombies with home made weapons is extremely satisfying in Dead Island. The first person perspective, which requires targeting specific body parts, can feel awkward at first but swinging a customized axe and removing a limb from an oncoming zombie is beautifully gory and so enjoyable th

Better than expected, but nothing new.

I really enjoyed playing Dead Island 1 back in the day, so I was excited for the sequel. This game has the same zombie killing action as the original. The dialogue and story are interesting, but the gameplay hasn’t evolved much. I like the setting of being in LA and think it adds to the experience. Each of the zones in the game world are unique and well crafted. However, I wish that zombies didn’t respawn even when you are within the same zone.

Bugs not zombies kill this game as the Bugs and Glitches ruin this game!!

This game really could have been called Dead Island 2.0 because the graphics and glitches from the first game were not improved. The story wasn't much and the early price tag of $50.00 should have indicated that this game would be half-assed. Just like the first game, lot of zombie killing, very addicting and fun to play with friends. There are many issues!! The zombies seem endless, and the continual respawning of zombies and just seem like a grind going from all the quests. It seems that you just back track going back and forth over and over. The game glitches a lot!! It would be forgivable but when the game freezes sometimes it can corrupt a game save. I personally lost a character save 3 different times. Its really too bad that the game wasn't polished, the addictiveness of slashing through a horde of zombies makes for one of the funnest most addictive game genres... but the overall glitches, game freezes, and bugs ruins the game.

This game is a great value for the price. It has very good graphics, great storyline, complete open world and side quests alone take hours to complete. You can play with other players, but playing alone is just as fun.Guns are rare to find or buy. And ammo is even more difficult to come across. There are more than enough melee weapons which can sometimes be confusing as to which melee weapons are better to use at any given time. Keeping your melee weapons repaired and in good shape is key to them being effective against zombies.The one complaint I have is that the map information can be difficult to read and confusing when taking on several quests at one time. Horrible

Do not buy this game. The game is awful. The story is so bland it isn't even interesting. If you removed all of the wild goose chases to collect this, that, or the other you might have about 6-8 hours of actual gameplay. I finished the game at level 23 out of whatever max level is. The game is full of glitches and you'll be hit by zombies behind you looking the other way. It freezes quite often. The characters are basically all the same except for their crappy dialogue and negligible attributes. This is not a $70 game. It's not a $20 game. This should have been a freemium game from the release. At least then your $70 would go towards improving the experience.

Worth the wait!

I was surprised by how much this game felt like the original and RipTide. The style and mechanics are very similar, but the strengths/weaknesses of the individual characters and the perk cards factor in a bit more heavily which is a nice, subtle change. The maps are similar, and while a bit more free-roam would have been nice, the travel areas are no more rigid than the prior entries. I am only a few hours into the game and looking forward to seeing some of the additional weapons that pop up, but as a first impression, it is a very worth sequel that fits into the series perfectly. Solid graphics on Xbox Ones S as well.

not the best zombie game

This is a matter of opinion, but the game was really more of a pain to play than enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I like a challenge, but in this game you get highly outnumbered when there is a zombie attack and your "teammates" seem to do almost nothing to help (on single player mode), You have to constantly save them, if you don't -guess what? you have to start all over. You cannot save where you want and to be honest it felt more like working than playing a game. sorry, but not my style. I like to have fun when I play a game, not get constantly frustrated. If you want a good zombie shooter get "dying light" or "Zombie". much better!!!
