I recently purchased the 14-5440 latitude and I am thrilled with its performance, sturdy build and the outstanding quality of its screen. The construction feels solid and durable ensuring it can withstand daily use. The performance is remarkable, handling tasks seamlessly and exceeding my expectations. The screen's clarity and vividness enhance my overall computing experience., making it a top choice for both work and entertainment. Highly recommend.

Best bang for the buck and our needs.

The SSD still shows about over 200gb of free space. At this price point you can't go wrong.

The Latitude 5440 is extremely light weight. The 14" screen is still large enough to be able to work from with an additional monitor. The device is quiet compared to other devices I have used in the past. The overall feel is very comfortable, and the keypad is placed where my palms do not activate the pad. I have do not have any complaints so far. Currently running it with an i5, 16 GB of ram, and a 512 GB SSD.

Issues with initial out of box boot

The university here regularly purchase these laptops with the Autopilot feature to automatically enroll these into our Microsoft Intune / Azure AD. Recently, [4] out of the last [10] laptops I have set up either failed to load the operating system on the initial "out of box" boot and / or in applying Microsoft updates after the initial boot. To be fair, in both instances the "system" informed me something had gone wrong, and steps were being applied to correct the problem. In all cases after multiple tries and reboots (all initiated by the OS itself) the "system" corrected itself and the loading of the OS or implementing Windows Updates were successful. But I have to admit I don't get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling deploying these to my end users, many of which are working remotely.

Newest in the line up, but not innovative

This is a direct replacement to the Latitude 5430. After spending some time comparing the differences between this new model and the previous two Latitude models 5420 and 5430; there is no major difference. The same external look and almost the same weight. On this model Dell opted to eliminate the additional USB-A port, but failed to add an additional USB-C port.Performance and battery life is not much different and the 13th generation i5 and i7 are very close with the i7 using much more energy for a slight negligible increase in speed. You can get this unit with the DD5 memory configuration which will make this machine stand tall compare to its predecessors at a much higher price for a low-tier laptop. You want to look elsewhere for a gaming laptop like the XPS or Alienware configuration.

Reliable Workhorse for Productivity: Dell Latitude 5440 XCTO Base Review
25 October 2023

I recently purchased the Dell Latitude 5440 XCTO Base and have been using it for a while now. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this laptop.Build Quality and Design (8/10):The build quality is solid, and it feels durable. The design is professional and minimalistic, which I appreciate. It's not the most eye-catching laptop, but it gets the job done.Performance (9/10):I customized the laptop with an upgraded CPU and RAM, and it performs admirably for my needs. It handles daily tasks with ease, and I haven't experienced any noticeable lags or slowdowns.Battery Life (7/10):The battery life is decent but not exceptional. I get around 6-7 hours of usage on a single charge, which is sufficient for my workday but could be better.Display (8/10):The display ... MoreI recently purchased the Dell Latitude 5440 XCTO Base and have been using it for a while now. I get around 6-7 hours of usage on a single charge, which is sufficient for my workday but could be better.Display (8/10):The display quality is good, with sharp colors and decent brightness. It's comfortable for extended use, and I opted for the non-touchscreen version, which suits my preferences.Keyboard and Touchpad (9/10):The keyboard is comfortable and offers a pleasant typing experience. The touchpad is responsive and works well for navigation.Portability and Weight (7/10):It's a reasonably portable laptop, but it's not the lightest in its class. It's manageable to carry around, but there are lighter options if extreme portability is a priority.Connectivity (8/10):Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are reliable. There are enough ports for my needs, and the laptop offers a well-rounded selection of connectivity options.Noise and Heat (9/10):The laptop stays relatively cool under normal usage, and the fan noise is minimal. Even under load, it remains fairly quiet.Operating System and Software (8/10):I chose Windows as the operating system, and it works well for my needs. There's some pre-installed software, but it's not too intrusive, and I found some of it to be useful.Customer Support (N/A):I haven't had to interact with Dell's customer support for this product, so I can't comment on that aspect.Value for Money (8/10):I believe the Dell Latitude 5440 XCTO Base offers good value for the price. It's a reliable workhorse for everyday tasks, and the customization options allowed me to tailor it to my needs.Overall Satisfaction (8/10):On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate my satisfaction with this purchase as an 8. It's a dependable laptop that meets my expectations for work and productivity. In summary, the Dell Latitude 5440 XCTO Base is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and customizable laptop for everyday tasks and work. While it may not be the most glamorous option, it offers good performance and build quality for the price.

Small but big in performance.
4 October 2023

My in house technician said this is the laptop they are purchasing for their professors and students at his university. He listened to what I said were my needs and I listen to him and his information about the Latitude 5440 laptop. It sounded like a match for my needs and I made the purchase. It has been easy to use and to install what I will need for travel and meetings. I am hoping I can get 10 years out of this laptop. The one it is replacing I have had for more than 10 years. It had reached the age along with me that it was too big for travel. I am very happy with the size and speed of this new Latitude 5440 laptop and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small powerful system.

Terrible laptop - DON'T BUY
22 September 2023

Worst laptop I've ever bought. Out of the box without installing any third-party applications, I'm getting constantly of 'blue screen of death' crashes, bluetooth connectivity plays up every day, with the inability to turn on and off the bluetooth and unable to connect headsets, without rebooting the laptop. And all of this was after I performed a windows update to update to the latest patches, drivers etc.I'm expecting a call from DELL following this review since I will be sending this back to them and expecting a full refund, and possibly an invoice the amount of time I've wasted on crashes, reboots and headset issues!

USB-A ---> DisplayPort does not work
29 October 2023

The Dell Latitude 5440 seems to be fine, but have not been able to use it much becauseI purchased the VisionTek (model 901289) USB-C to DisplayPort Cable to connect to my dell-u2417h monitor, however, the monitor says "No DP signal from your device", but I have verified DP input worksfrom another computer with a plain DP-DP cable. Both USB-C ports on the left side of the laptop yield the same result, i.e.,"No DP signal from your device".
