Some people say below 60 fps will cause flickering or tearing but I can dip a little below that when my oc is off with maxed out native cyberpunk with psycho ray tracing at wqhd and be in the 50s with no tearing, flickering, or stuttering.I thought about upgrading to the Alienware wqhd but I have one of the best OLED 4k large screen TVs and I think any good high res high refresh screen with low to no backlight bleed and vibrant colors can get the job done which is what this screen does for a lot cheaper! I usually pick this screen over my 4k for gaming so...I also use this screen for work. I previously had 3 FHD minitors and this has comfortably replaced them all. I thought I would just drop 2 but the wider screen and better resolutions allows me to easily fit everything on the screen. I have external audio and video peripheral hardware for video conferencing plugged into the screen usb ports which works great only running a single usb cable to my computer.

Stunning monitor and once colour calibrated is excellent. Huge desktop real estate, decent sturdy stand and height adjust, running at the 120hz, gentle curve works well, was a tad unsure about this as not had or used a curved screen before. Have come from a dual screen setup with a 27" 1440p and 24" 1080p side by side. Really impressed by the monitor and options available within the monitor for screen setup and split screen options. Good access to inputs and OSD controls are simple to use, not at all complicated. The sale price made it a no brainer. Very pleased with delivery service and speed of delivery too. Good price for the extended warranty.

3 December 2021

Title: Decent for 60 Hz film, but some Image Retention & Line Bleed spotted.60 Hz performance seems alright with films using the "Fast" overdrive setting. However, image retention can be an issue, especially during early use or perhaps it's something that is a characteristic of the panel. For example, during the first 10 or 20 hours of use or so, I used the monitor in 16:9 aspect ratio, leaving black bars on the left and right sides of the screen. This was because my display port cable hadn't arrived yet and so I had to use the HDMI output, which was limited to 4K or 1080P 16:9 aspect ratio, no 21:9 option. When my DP cable arrived two or three days later, I had a very, very obviously darker side bars on both sides of the screen when displaying 21:9 content, ... MoreTitle: Decent for 60 Hz film, but some Image Retention & Line Bleed spotted.60 Hz performance seems alright with films using the "Fast" overdrive setting. It's not as obvious as before though...Still, it's early days and I'm willing to overlook this as just a side-effect of having a fast response VA panel with good black levels compared to IPS panels. In some ways, this VA panel is a bit like Plasma technology, which I'm a big fan of... There is even some horizontal line bleed, like you would get with Plasma! If you don't know what line bleed is, do a google search. It's basically where bright or dark lines or bands on a picture look like they extend themselves into the adjacent areas, especially noticeable if the adjacent area is of opposite brightness or colour... Anyway, despite being a videophile, I'm okay with it as it's not as distracting to me compared to the grey blacks of IPS panels or the ghosting seen in some VA panels when showing the darker scenes of a film or such.

Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG

This was my experience with the Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG.I purchased a refurbished model initially, I had heard really positive reviews about the monitor. Unfortunately, the monitor sent had small clusters of Bright Pixels littered near the centre of the screen so I had to return it. Surprisingly, I wasn't even offered a replacement which I would of happily taken and Customer Care was a little difficult with the whole process which took all up about a month before I received a refund. After that unpleasant experience, I decided that I was just unlucky and decided to buy the monitor brand new since it was on sale. I was concerned when it was delivered, the box it arrived in had 'Damaged' old stickers on it and even the courier lady made a note of it in her scanner. It could have been another refurbished unit sent. Regardless, It wasn't to be. After calibrating and running some tests, this monitor is riddled with tiny dead pixels also. I have counted at least 10, and although they are small and not overly obtrusive, I'm really disappointed with the quality control over at Dell.If you research for a bit, you will find many complaints about this issue. It's a fantastic budget ultra wide monitor after spending time calibrating and customising all the settings, just such a pity they aren't looking after their loyal customers. I couldn't be bothered dealing with Dell's customer support again after all that so will just keep it.

After reading tons of reviews and comparing price for features, this monitor was one of my top choices. Once I saw a great deal on it, I made the leap. I am super happy I did! The extra screen space over my 27 in monitor has made production easier. That was my goal, but what I didn't expect was the improvement in media consumption. The 21:9 aspect ratio is amazing while watching movies as a large majority of them take up the whole screen and the lack of black bars makes the experience more enjoyable. It has also increased my immersion in games, which I was hopeful for, but dubious of.Colors are awesome (darks could be better, but for the price it's still great.)Brightness is more than enough for use indoors.Response times has been much better, switching from my ... MoreAfter reading tons of reviews and comparing price for features, this monitor was one of my top choices. I will say that I had to use extra spacers because the depth of the mount recess prevented me from attaching it without adding a few millimeters of additional spacing.I like the slight curve, I wasn't sure if I would since this is my first curved monitor.

Great monitor - could do with a USB-C cable though

I watched a few YouTube reviews before buying this monitor. Also, and coincidentally, the monitor was on a 40% off special. To be honest, if it weren’t for the discount, I probably wouldn’t have bought it (I had a budget in mind). But it was and I’m happy to say, the monitor fully meets my requirements.I did have one problem initially. I could not get my work laptop to achieve the 3440 x 1440 display resolution using an HDMI cable. My personal laptop was fine though. After some research I discovered that some laptops need to connect via their USB-C connection to achieve the higher resolution. Unfortunately, the required cable didn’t come out of the box, so I had to source that elsewhere.I have the cable now (USB-C to DP) and both machines are fully compatible. ... MoreI watched a few YouTube reviews before buying this monitor. From office work, gaming to entertainment this has been a pleasure. 9/10So much so that I bought one for my wife 6 months later when it went on sale.Nab it when its on sale, its a deal you cannot miss, 34 inch Widescreen magic for 50% off. Heck I even tested out old school games on it with little to no scaling issues. Many older games from 90s 2000s don't support 1440 or for that matter some even have issues with 1080 gaming so you have to descale and use some windows compatibility settings to get it to run.For entertainment (netflix and prime) that is where sometimes you may have those black sidebars because the video doesn't support widescreen but in tv shows/ movies that it does it looks great.Blacks are not too bad, color is great.FPS and refresh rate for first person shooters is great.I get a constant 144 MHZ on my 3070 for most FPS.Only the heavy duty games like cyberpunk is where I don't get the FPS I need which is where the difference can be felt but adaptive sync does a good job.It is very important to use the DVI cable they supplied to not have any issues with 144 Mhz as I noted other cables do have screen tearing issues oddly enough.

Review of Dell 34 curved monitor

This review is the performance based on the ThinkorSwim trading platform. My biggest concern with any computer system for day trading is latency. So far the Dell 34 has been doing a great job keeping up with the graphics engine. Out of the box the I didn't have to make any color or other adjustments for viewing, even YouTube videos performed well. I tested the HDMI and now I am running Displayport for trading. There is no detectable difference that I can see between the two and like how painless the installation was with the exception of where I had to plug in the connectors. A trading platform has many charts, numbers, text that have to be seen clearly. Other brands had lower pixel density. I don't game so I have not noticed any ghosting, smudging, the viewing is great. I can enlarge the text on charts, watchlists, etc and it's still really clean. I would give a rating of 4.9 but instead rate it 5 stars. This is a really good monitor and I have gone through a lot of different brands.

Superior monitor, am considering buying another!!!
20 September 2022

I've only used the S3422DWG monitor for a couple weeks at this point, but am very pleased with it's performance. Out of the box I found it needed some adjustment to get an acceptable picture quality. So after digging through several forums and ReddIt I discovered suggestions for the following settings, which I think give an acceptable picture quality. What follows I literally cut and pasted from a Reddit post.Set the OSD settings to 80% contrast ratio, Smart HDR to DisplayHDR 400, Sharpness at 50, and Input Color Format as RGB. In Windows, I set the "SDR Brightness" under the HDR menu to 45. It is also recommended to download and install the specific Dell drivers for this monitor to avoid any adverse image artifacts such as vertical black lines. I personally didn't experience any issues but I install the monitor specific drivers for all monitors as a standard protocol when adding a new monitor to my system.I hope this review helps anyone looking to buy a superior monitor, which I believe the S3422DWG is and with getting the best picture quality possible once you've set it up.
