The Denman brush is such a great styling tool. I would not recommend using this as a detangling brush if you have thick coily hair but as a styling brush it works perfectly. I have type 4 hair and it defines my curls beautifully with the help of some leave-in conditioner and gel. I definitely recommend giving this brush a try. The “Denman” brand is a bit expensive, but there are other brands that sell the same style of brush. They all work the same. You can purchase this product at most beauty supply stores.

To start the review, please note I ordered the wrong size brush. I took the quiz and it advised me to buy a smaller brush than I had anticipated needing. But, the brush is well constructed and easily detangles my hair after a shower. Unfortunately, I don't see much difference in my 2C hair waves/curls after using the brush. the brush is too small to easily wrap hair around to help with setting a curl. It is a nice brush, but because it is so small I find myself only using it once in a while. It would definitely be a nice brush to keep in your purse.

This is the only place to get the best brushes around! I’ve tried all sorts of brushes and I thought they were great, but they fell short when it came to cleaning the hair out of the brush. This one is the perfect size, makes my waves more defined than ever before, and cleans out super easy with a grab or two around the edges. You can also use a rat tail comb to clean out the brush if you prefer not to touch the hair. I’m not sure if you can use this with heat though, as it doesn’t say on the website or packaging, so this is my shower brush basically. Also it doesn’t hold water in weird places which is very nice

It seemed like every curly girl on Youtube was using and loving this brush so I was excited to try it out for myself. I have 2c/3a hair with curls that easily fall flat and/or frizz out. After looking up tutorials and getting the hang of it, I can say the brush gives me minor to moderate results. It does help a lot with product distribution, and I noticed a slight increase in curl definition with slightly less frizz. All in all, I don't think this brush works miracles but it's not a total gimmick either. Part of me feels like the reason everyone is obsessed with this brush is because everyone else is seemingly obsessed with it, not because it actually produces great results.. Moreover, I think it is majorly overpriced. Part of me feels like the reason everyone is obsessed with this brush is because everyone else is seemingly obsessed with it, not because it actually produces great results.. Moreover, I think it is majorly overpriced. There's nothing really unique about the brush itself; it's made of cheap plastic and rubber and has a pretty standard shape. To me, it's just another marketing ploy where some white dude tries to convince women that curly hair is a 'unique and specialty' hair type that 'requires' more expensive products to achieve the desired look. Since I already have the brush, I will continue using it, but the results are not worth the price. Buy a nice curl cream or hair mask instead. I will not be recommending this brush to my curly-haired friends and family.
This is a sturdy, well-made brush. I recognized the quality of it as soon as I took it out of the box. It's heavier than a "big box store" brand and is solidly put together. I was looking for a brush that didn't add frizz to my hair, and this doesn't. My hair is incredibly thick, and the bristles reach all the way into my hair with each pass--most brushes don't. I don't have a problem with tangles normally, so I can't speak to that, but the rare tangles I do have were handled easily. I'm also noticing less hair loss IN the brush, so somehow, it's not pulling my hair out with each pass. Now, I'd been told that this brush was "for curly hair" and mine is stick straight. If you have straight hair and just need a brush to brush your hair, don't be put off by those who say this is only for the curly girls. It worked on my straight hair very well and I even used it twice with a low heat setting on my blow dryer to "bend my ends" and it worked superbly. So far, I am immensely pleased with this brush and I plan to order one for my daughter. These are the kinds of brushes that probably last a lifetime and that's what I was looking for.
I really like this brush simply because it helps all of my hair to curl the same. Sometimes I have half wavy half curly hair, and this brush helps me to make it all look uniform. My hair is still pretty frizzy after using it, but that's probably more the products I use and the fact that my hair is ALWAYS frizzy. Also I've only used the brush a handful of times and one of the bristles is already bent. I don't know how it happened, but for me the purchase was still worth it simply for all my hair to curl the same. I have 3a-3bish hair that is medium thickness and length. I plan to grow my hair out longer so I decided to go with the 9 row instead of the 7 row, plus if I need to I can always remove some rows. I've only ever used the brush right after the shower with my hair wet. I don't recommend this to be a detangling brush, I personally detangle my hair in the shower with a comb before using this brush. It sometimes pulls at the very ends of my hair but that could be because I need a trim and have some dead ends that tangle easily. Sorry for the long review but I wanted to get out everything I thought about the brush, thank you for reading.
I bought the brush because of the good description. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed..Positive:- the brush is good in the hand.- The brush pulls dog hair well out of the hair thanks to the rubber pad (have 4 Hundeli..)- when wet, the brush can arrange the hair very well and the long bristles are enough even for my thick, long North African hair!Negatives:- The brush pulls strongly and is painful.- The bristles are exrtrem Hard and not flexible (the solid rubber pad gives only a little).- I wear a vintage cut for vintage curls, meaning my hair is not layered. The brush struggles at the tips. It gets through the top pretty well, the bottom I usually have to help with my fingers.- Never in my life have I had statically charged hair! I use a Schwerses ... MoreI bought the brush because of the good description. I use a Schwerses hair oil for Indian hair.... nevertheless, this brush creates it after a brush stroke on dry hair that the hair flies around everywhere. Even "unloaded" on the heater / water tap of the brush brings nothing! Immediately it charges widee. (Hairspray also does not help...) My hair is always air-dried and kept supple with oil. The clothes I wear (even without clothes and without carpet...) does not change anything.... This one point brings me to such a negative rating.I've never had this in my life... and the brush is touted as extra static charge resistant thanks to rubber pads... too bad. Use it only wet... although I have actually ordered to the same order a Wetbrush... this wiederrum I use now dry, because it does not charge.
I've always loved Denman brushes for my hair. Picked up an extra brush to put on my other bathroom. It's just something about the way a Denman brush distributes product through my hair. I like that I can remove rows if desired when brushing the various hair types in my household. Removable rows makes for complete cleaning/sanitizing. I have lots of hair and often the pad with the bristles slides off the handle. I've learned to deal with it and adjust to where I now grip the brush. All in all I love the quality of Denman brushes and will keep one (or two) in my house always.
so like many during the pandemic, I could not be bothered to straighten my hair and decided to 'embrace my natural hair' and got caught up down the You Tube and Instagram rabbit holes, learning how to get the best results for my manic mop. This brush was recommended for styling purposes so I thought I would try it. Well I don't get the results of the influencers but sometimes I get curlier curls than just scrunching. Problem is I don't have the time or the inclination to be separating sections and brush styling so this is a now and then attempt! Brush is easy to keep clean and you can remove bristle rows to give tighter or looser curl effects. Tip for putting the head back in is to do it while the brush is wet otherwise good luck with that!!
A TRUE Denman brush is GREAT for curly hair. That's why I tried to purchase one. What I got from so-called Pro seller Black Cat Packaged Goods LLC was a straight up KNOCKOFF. The picture shows a real Denman brush and the description confirms it, but what you get is an obvious fake. Now my review shows under another seller. And my comment about why I purchased a Denman brush is misleading. The comment about the brush being good for curly hair was about Denman brushes, not the item received from this company. They asked why I was purchasing that item. Anyway, I saw another review complaining about a knockoff from another company so it's not a one off. Be sure you know a true Denman brush has the Denman name in 2 places and the Denman crown over the letter D stamped ... MoreA TRUE Denman brush is GREAT for curly hair.
