Denon is one of the rare audio brands that continued to actively develop Hi-Fi components and accumulate, refine, and pass down Hi-Fi audio technologies. The DCD-1600NE focuses on achieving the essence of a disc player: ultra-high precision in reading discs and supplying high-quality audio signals to the amp. To achieve this, the signal paths are as short as possible and the whole circuitry is minimized. The engineers also redesigned the disc drive mechanism brackets and the chassis to eliminate vibration, the great enemy of disc players, and achieve ultra-vibration-resistant performance. The information on the disc is now read with impeccable accuracy and a clean, high-grade signal is supplied to the DCD-1600NE’s Advanced AL32 Processing Plus circuitry. Besides CD and Super Audio CD playback, the DCD features playback of audio recordings up to PCM192/24 or DSD5.6 recorded on a DVD R/RW for full flexibility and extended access to high resolution audio.

Come from DCD 520ae and PMA 600ne. Perfect matching with PMA 1600ne worth it!
I paired this amp with the Denon DCD 800NE and B&W 603 S2 and it sounds amazing. Before I hade the pma 800NE which was also pretty good already but this amp is just a beast. It's hard fo me to describe the sound - there are reviewers who do it better but I think you should always try these products at your home and not rely just on reviews. What I can say though is thta with this amp I finally heard the so called separation of instruments and also via the optical input - so the DAC. Great!
Great build quality and smooth, solid, quiet operation. Sounds wonderful! Excellent value! Highly recommended to any music lover who appreciates good quality and good value.
The Denon PMA-1600NE is a glorified, middle-of-the-road integrated amp and it is no better, except for the DAC, then Yamaha's A-S801 Integrated Amp for $500.00 less. The glory days of Denon are long gone and if you look at the interior, it has far too many wires and too little space. For about $1,000 - $1,200.00, it would be a worthwhile deal, although, I'd wait until Yamaha unviews its replacement for the 801.
I recently saw a review that claimed that this amplifier had too many wires. Frankly, that's laughable. The beauty of this amplifier is that all the digital circuitry can be turned off. I am so pleased with the Denon PMA 1600Ne. The sound is open and smooth. There is more power than anyone would imagine comes from an amp rated at 70 watts into 8ohms. The digital section is amazing, and the analogue section is to die for. Both the headphone section and the phono section are outstanding.
