Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash - 177ml

Dermalogica has never let me down! I got a deluxe sample of this precleanse in a GWP and it’s one more product of theirs I’ll be buying a full-size bottle of. The scent is nice, with a fresh citrus smell to it. I applied it according to the directions by applying on dry skin in circular motions, and chose to opt for the second massaging with wet hands after the Precleanse was evenly distributed prior to rinsing it off. After that I continued with my regular facial cleansing routine. I found that this product made my skin feel invigorated and even softer than the Daily Microfoliant leaves my skin—which is already baby soft—and I did feel like it made a difference. In my opinion it has a mostly fresh and clean scent mixed with lemon-lime perhaps, and possibly else something fruity. It's refreshing, easily bubbles, has amazing latherability, and cleans the skin very well. This product does major work, I mean I can literally see the dirt and grime washing away. This is a staple in my skin regime and a product I highly recommend!

When I first tried this formula it was a long time ago and it was much thicker and fragrant and richer. This formula is a lot thinner feels a little bit oily and although it smells great I just can’t get the same type of use out of it the way I used to with the older formulation. I use waterproof mascara so it’s very waxy and needs to be broken down by a thicker stronger formula and this one just doesn’t really do that for me. I end up having to rub my eyes a lot to get the same type of affect as before and that makes it a three star product for me. If you’re light make up where this will probably be perfect for you or even if you just wear sunblock or bb cream. As for me I’ll stick to micellar water or makeup removing balm.

I apply 2-3 pumps (or as you feel you need to remove excess oil and makeup) of this cleaning oil first before any other product to my dry face. I make sure to have clean, dry hands and I massage it into my skin, really making sure to get my waterproof eye makeup first. I then add water and continue to massage it. It creates the perfect light texture where my face does not feel greasy. After about a minute, I rinse it off with water only and then finish my skincare routine by starting with cleansing my face. I was nervous at first to use this as I have combination/oily skin, but it did not clog my pores and removed my waterproof eye makeup like a dream. This pre-cleanser came in a Dermalogica kit I got. I was really interested in what this was exactly, because I had never heard of a pre-cleanser. But once I used it I did like it! I’ve also had friends say they prefer this cleanser over the normal cleanser because their skin is very sensitive. So this is more of a gentle cleanse and to prepare your skin before using your normal cleanser from what I understood. At least that’s how I used it and found it to be the best way for me! It has a watery like texture, but once you work it into your skin it lathers up a soft feeling cleanser. Recommend anyone trying it out!:)

Clear skin

This works really well at keeping my teenage daughters skin in check. She is prescribed lymecycline but Clearstart still makes a difference and is noticeably better than Cerave SA which is very watery in comparison. It's a very concentrated formula so you only need the tiniest amount. Although I use Dermalogica special cleansing gel daily I've also started to use this once a week or so because it's gentle and I like the way my skin feels afterwards. I also use the microfoliant fortnightly. I find these gentle acids keep skin smoother and fresher.

Gentle yet effective

I purchased this cleanser to help with my oily, acne prone skin, and body acne. This liquid cleanser is transparent in colour, has quite a strong citrus/detergent scent, is astringent, yet gentle and effective. When in use, this cleanser lathers and turns to a milky white foam. It's extremely gentle on skin! Non drying or stripping at all; and it still feels like your face has had the best clean of its life! I've found it best to only use this cleanser once per day in the evenings-to remove my SPF/makeup from the day, and clear out any dirt, excess oil and bacteria. It does not remove makeup

I rarely write negative reviews unless it is really really bad. However, I tried to make this product work and I watched many reviews of this product to convince me that it was good but the verdict is in and it just doesn’t work. Firstly, it’s quite thick which I like but it doesn’t melt into an oil as easily as other balms do. Secondly, after emulsifying it, it takes a while to rinse of thoroughly - longer than others. Thirdly, if you wipe it off with a cotton pad you will see A LOT of makeup still remaining on the face before the second cleanse - unlike other cleansing balms where I only noticed the very faintest bit of makeup residue after this first step. best makeup remover - far less dryness after cleansing

was recommended by an esthetician friend to prevent excess dryness during cleansing. my oh my what a different it makes! it seems to balance the lipid layer so that the natural oils aren't stripped from my face -- just the impurities wash away. it is a phenomenal makeup remover!!! pleasant botanical, rosemary scent. very potent too! i use just a pea-sized amount to do the job. melts away mascara instantly non-irritating to the eyes. the additional moisture it provides is a bonus. LOVE IT :)
