I was definitely looking for an unscented shampoo while looking for something to help with my scalp psoriasis and this is. I don't feel that shampoo "+conditioner" should really be used that way, at least not this one. I accompany it with an unscented natural baby conditioner. It leaves my hair hard if I don't. However this is the only thing that has truly helped my scalp heal and prevent more psoriasis. I enjoy using it and buy bottle after bottle. Would for sure recommend this to anyone wanting to try something otc for their scalp psoriasis!

After one week it revived my scalp

I’ve been dealing with a bad case of psoriasis on my scalp for over a month, and this is the first shampoo I tried to make it better. After the first use it made it more flaky, but after the second time my scalp is not flaky anymore, the itchiness is reduced.I just wish it came in a bigger size too. The smell isn’t irritating as well. It foams up very well, so a small amount goes a long way.I think it’s a great quality, and delivers what it claims.I like pump types so the packaging could improve.

Amazing product for itchy, dry, bumpy & gunky summer scalp

I picked this up at Walmart for about $7 after a bout of itching on my scalp that nearly drove me insane. I live in hot, humid Texas and have curly hair that requires leave-in conditioner and other products and cannot be washed daily, so this happens to me nearly every summer but this was the first time it was severe enough to require treatment.I of course googled the symptoms, I also had pimple sized bumps on my scalp and specks of skin or buildup along my roots after itching my head and came to the conclusion that it was likely a fungal/yeast overgrowth or “infection” caused by the combo of sweat from hot weather and leave-in hair products. Not a big deal, lots of over the counter options luckily. l chose this immediately because it was the only FRAGRANCE FREE product for “dandruff” in the bunch and that’s a huge bonus for me because I have sensitive skin and only use fragrance-free hair/skin/face products. In my experience, a product being fragrance-free typically speaks to its quality. It’s usually more focused on effectiveness than winning people over with sweet smells or pretty packaging. It also contains “zinc complex”, kukui nut oil, green tea and safflower extracts; so I felt it wouldn’t be too harsh. It’s powerhouse though is the 3% salicylic acid, a very high percentage for an over the counter product. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) found mostly in acne products and is a super effective exfoliant that’s typically well tolerated by everyone. I believe the highest percentage allowed in facial products is 2% (without a prescription) but the skin on the scalp is much thicker than gentle facial skin and 3% at this price point is impressive. I bought this and a bottle of Nizoral (for the ketoconazole 1% in it, in case it’s a yeast infection or is otherwise fungal); though I would have purchased that in generic had they had it. I wet my hair and lathered it up with the Dermarest first and left it in for about an hour as I did things around the house. I already felt relief by the time I rinsed it. I followed up with the Nizoral, left it the same amount of time then rinsed and conditioned. The bumps dried up and disappeared within 2 days and the itching is gone after that one use.The larger size (8 fluid ounces) compared to most shampoos in this category and the frangrance-free/high salicylic acid combo made this the obvious choice for me. It’s also recognized by the “National Psoriasis Foundation” per the bottle. I plan to use it in conjunction with the Nizoral about 2x month during hot months. I’ll definitely repurchase as a stand alone anti buildup shampoo though, year round.

Excellent Medicated Shampoo!

I have been struggling with itchy scalp and intense hair shedding over last months. Decided to try this medicated shampoo with 3% Salicylic acid to remove buildup on my scalp. It is fragrance free to avoid unnecessary irritation. It doesn't have extreme foam, but it does foam up enough to spread and massage the scalp (leave on scalp for a few minutes). I do have straight and thin hair easily manageable, so after using this shampoo I don't struggle with combing my hair, but I would definitely recommend using additional conditioner if your hair are tangled easily. After hair dry I am left with fresh clean and shiny hair.. and really good volume! Also don't get oily scalp for a couple of days afterwords and the itch is basically gone!! Excellent!

I have used this shampoo for years with great results.The issue I have is with whoever packaged it without first checking to see if the top was screwed on tight. Since this did not have any inner foil seal, I probably lost a full shampoo's worth in the package. Thankfully, it was the plastic shipping package! It wouldn't have taken but a few seconds to tighten the lip and perhaps put a piece of tape on it to ensure it didn't leak everywhere, spilling what I don't consider an inexpensive product.

Good

This is a nice shampoo for scalp eczema. I usually use the one from Home Health but it was out of stock and I was almost out, so I got this one instead. I haven't had any flare-ups since I started using this one, which is great! It's fairly thin but it lathers well and easy to massage into the scalp (I have a buzz cut, so your mileage may vary). It has no smell, which I like, and the size is good; I don't need a lot so it will last me a while. I would repurchase if my usual was out of stock, but generally I would stick to the Home Health one.

Slight reduction in flaky skin

After having used coal tar products for a number of years for my scalp eczema, I thought I would try this. It seems to reduce flaky skin on the scalp a little. There seems to be little change in soreness and itchiness compared to coal tar products. It doesn't have the strong smell that coal tar products have. Hair seems just as well washed as with coal tar products. I use it every day without problems.

Time will tell

I have only used this product twice since I received it. I can only give my opinion on that. It cleans well but it doesn't suds like most shampoos, but suds doesn't mean it's cleaning. I left it on for several minutes like the bottle said. I did feel tingling on my scalp. The only thing I have noticed is my head itches sporadically for a couple days. Don't really know if that the shampoo or my skin reacting to it. The itching stops after a couple days so maybe it's doing what it's supposed to do. I'll edit my review after I've used it more.

I suffer a mild form of scalp psoriasis and this shampoo is exactly what I needed.Previously I was told that any shampoo containing salicylic acid will relieve psoriasis symptoms but will make your hair feeling dry. It’s not the case with this shampoo or at least with me.My hair is thin and gets oily fast, so if I want to maintain a fresh look I need to wash it daily. This shampoo keeps my hair oil free for longer and gives a bit of volume. (This probably because it removes all build-ups and smooth the scalp). I use this shampoo twice a week and if a could I’d probably use it more often, but it’s not recommended.If you suffer from psoriasis you know how uncomfortable it makes you feel and how itchy scalp may become.
