Having various shades of black gives me a bigger range of colour options for my work. Easier than having one shade & trying to use pressure smoothly to gain same shade over larger area. Quality is beautiful. Try Derwent ranges of coloured pencil crayons with confidence.

One if the most useful colours in the entire gamut of Derwent coloured pencils. Beautiful on its own, subtle, low key, one of the best blending agents for creating shadows due to its content of pink and brown. Derwent should not discontinue these Artists pencils that have served artists for do long, my heart goes out to loyal users of the Artists brand line, counting me among them as it has been a staple for us. Remember brand loyalty has to do with being able to rely on a company's continued production of certain products.

I use Derwent watercolor pencils for on the go creations and doodles - appreciate not only the bright colors - but long lasting - can sharpen at home and generally not need to when outside in places it is not easy to do. The long lasting is valuable as well in that i live overseas and do not get back for a year or more.

The pigment in these pencils is good, the price is reasonable, but this line doesn't offer the same color variety that other watercolor pencils do. The pencils also "shed" a bit on paper; the color builds up and flakes off the paper. If you aren't too careful when you wipe or blow the specks away, you can end up with pigment where you don't want it. They do blend nicely, though, and I you are looking to see if watercolor pencils are for you, this a good place to start.To be honest, I prefer the Derwent Inktense pencils to these watercolor pencils, and would recommend them before I recommended these.
